Wasted some tenths with cautious driving and then minimal wheelspin on the final turn.

I had the same trouble on a few laps. Turns out my fastest lap is right on the edge on turn 10! My two right side tires are fully on the pavement, but I had to check the replay 5 times due to my OCD :sly: It's definitely clean... I just hope I have time to go faster this week... That turn has got to be one of the hardest....

It's funny... if the first half of my lap isn't quite up to par, I can push turn 10 to the absolute limit. If I had an awesome T2, I have to back way down to keep myself out of the wall! Must be psychological lol

Let's just say Nascar and I can't seem to get along (but yea good pic), but a buddy of mine really is. I'm more of a F1/WTCC/Rally kind of guy.

Yeah.. sometimes they don't try too hard to get along with anyone. I get annoyed by rule changes/the sanctioning body all the time, but hard to break the habit growing up with it :sly:

No new times for me, but seeing as everyone else is posting Infineon pictures, here's one from the Historic Trans-Am race at the Jaguar Wine Country Classic from a couple of years ago! (Between turns 8a & 9 on the stock car course.)

Couple of 'Stangs, a 'Cuda, a Camaro and a Cougar. :D

This combo is fun, I gave it a try today and must say that I am impressed by the times posted so far. I got a 17.5 at one time at T1 (screwing up elsewhere), but most of laps I got no less than a low 18 at T1 and make a mess at the next right. Anyway I'll post my best lap's intermediates just for the fun of it:
T1: 18.4
T2: 37.6

About 2 hours in on this and running out of time to play. There's another .2 out there that is sitting right in front of me but I can't pick it up. I spent about 1.5 hours just trying to get T1 down below 17.5 and I just can't do it consistently in this long car on RH's. Seen only a few 35.9's but they weren't for me apparently, maybe they are for you Nick? lol.

I just got home from a good night out in Utrecht (it's like 3 a.m. right now) and noticed that my name made it onto the leader board. Thanx for that. But that also gives me the obligation to improve on my time tomorrow, because I know that I can do better. It is just that I also know that I'm gonna have a major hangover tomorrow. So when I do improve my times, just pet me on the back and say that I did well. And when I don't (most likely), well...feel free to call me anything that comes to mind. I deserve it. :ouch:

new splits

17.800
36.906

No improvement on the leaderboard.
I improved the total time by over a second and its a nice clean run.
I think I'm at my limit on this one. :)

Had a fast first sector. :D

splits:

T1 0'17.290
T2 0'36.445

submitted this, can't concentrate ebought to improve my time
due to current health state :D
just a flu, but my reaction times are gone.

Well I just can't seem to get that .2 in T1 so you got me this time Jack :) I've spent too much time trying to even hit a 17.3x but can barely seem to do it AND finish the lap :indiff: I'll get you next time! (I hope lol)

T1 - 17.530
T2 - 36.025

Time Submitted

EDIT: The leaderboard on the first page is out of order Kevin, stidriver is in 2nd place with a 36.3x, fyi.

:dunce: Sorted. Will have to look for a new updater. :dopey:

And updated your splits on the board. 👍

Going back for what will probably be my last session now.

Last session splits. "submitting" now.

17.593
36.544

Still used 300 gearing, I tried the 270 you guys liked so much and I just couldn't be smooth with it. Lost about 0.2 in the last sector, so you guys don't have much to worry about.

Back from vacation and after managing a clean three laps with the Mazda spent about a half hour with the Camaro just to get a feel for it.

18.296
37.865

Used 350 (don't know why, there's obviously no way this car can go that fast in this track). I'll give it another shot tonight and hopefully move up the leaderboard before submitting tomorrow..

I think I'm at my limit on this one. :)

I'll second that.

Spent another 1 hour session on it and never got below a 37.0 at t2.

Reminder to all of the deadline in less than 24 hours. (Tomorrow at 7pm PST, 2am GMT Wednesday).

I'm starting now on posting the next race. 👍

Damnit Jerome.
6/100ths?
You just had to didn't you? :p
I know you'll be about 6/10ths quicker at the line too, since my last sector was shoddy. :grumpy:

Going to submit tomorrow before the deadline, and if all goes well workwise, maybe sneak in another little session, but I don't hold out much hope for bettering what I've got. :(

Submitting

Managed to run another session. Wish I'd had more time to run this - it's frustrating to submit knowing there's so much more time to get, Oh well.

17.966
37.021

By the way, after going wide over the curb through turn 4 like the stockers it ocurred to me that there was room to do the opposite. It was at the end of the night so I never got a clean lap but going inside the inside curb was between 0.3 and 0.4 seconds faster than going wide. Anyone else try this?

Kenny (01GTP) tried it, and I gave it a try. I found that if I did not hit it perfectly, it launched the car and was hard to recover. My best laps were with the corner taken at high speed and riding the left rumble. It's just that you can stay inside near the wall once rumble runs out, and not worry about your line in that corner, which was really my only intent. :dopey:

Thanks for spending some time on it and submitting. I'm sure you'll make up some places on the board in some of the other races. 👍

Got home in time for one last session before the deadline, and boy am I glad I did. My attack of the final sector has been bugging me, but haven't been able to get any seat time.

Submitting these splits:

17.887
36.583

And since its not often I get a NASCAR-themed race to enjoy, bare with me for one more pic :sly:

This time, going a bit old school with the guy who got me into motorsports to begin with... Rusty Wallace! Couldn't find an action shot from that far back, but managed to find one there before the race started .

Oh dear... jmgyro really did lose a bunch at the end of the lap. I had a 1'03.624! Maybe I can take a video with a camera... anyway, great driving, everyone! Particular congrats to jmgyro for his win, but also to Smallhorses for an alien-caliber lap! :scared: This was a fun one, EDK, keep 'em coming!

Excellent driving everybody!
I'll post my replay later, I've been having trouble with the PS2 since last weekend and getting frequent DREs with my GT4 disk. :scared:
I took it apart completely, down to stripping the power board off the processor circuit board and removed about 7 1/2 years of accumulated dust bunnies and things with the Dyson. :yuck:
Checked all the fittings and fixtures for the laser and reseated all the ribbon cable connectors.
Worked OK occasionally after this, but would still give DREs about every 3 out of 4 tries. :grumpy:
Stripped the cover off it again twice this week and played with the laser height adjustment, the first time seemed to work OK, but then it crapped out again today. Got in from work today and took it to bits again, cleaned the laser lens with a Q-Tip & acetone and readjusted the laser height again. It seems fine now, boots GT4 before it gets to the browser screen, which is good, however, it still abjectly refuses to boot my MAX Drive disk unless I turn it up into a vertical position!! Oh well, at least it reads the damned thing!!! :D
Midway through another running of Euro Hot Hatch League at the moment so it'll have to wait until I'm done with that. :guilty:

Austin343: Thanks man, that's the first time I've been described as an
alien.gif
with regards to my GT4 driving! I'm usually mid-table mediocrity! :indiff:
You really should lay out for a MAX Drive though, sounds like you could teach us a thing or 2, and $30 all in with shipping isn't that much to find, is it? ;)

Will post my replay once the Mrs. (man thats weird to say now :)) is done hogging the TV, lol. Congrats all, I really wish I had that .2 in T1 now :ouch:

Thanks, Smallhorses! While my parents won't let me buy a Max Drive (they say I play GT4 too much - how silly :dopey:), I do have this... I know it's not the same as a Max file, but at least it shows I'm not making up my times. I've had T1s .2 better, so this lap was not perfect by any stretch! I could have gotten a sub-1'03.5, and Zikwik surely could have managed a 1'02.xxx...

As promised before, here's the replay of my lap, and I'll be checking EDK & stidriver's replays shortly. Back soon with an edit....

*Edit* As if there was ever any doubt anyway, both EDK & stidriver's replays are absolutely clean and
gflagjn4.gif
-able!
That's a storming final sector that stidriver ran, picking up a full 0.5s on me!

Also, nice video Austin343, too bad on the MAX Drive thing. :(
Still as young as you are, your parents are quite correct, and one day you'll thank them for it!! (If it's any consolation, I'm more than double your age, and my parents think I play GT4 too much!!!)

OK guys, I stand corrected. I guess the green car IS faster than the red one. :dopey:

Thanks guys, for the quick posting of your replays and for checking mine as well.

I'll plan to return the favor tonight, for my own selfish reason of learning from your faster driving. :sly:

I'll post my replay tonight. Sorry to say but showing a video of a replay doesn't count for squat Austin. Holl01 went through the same drama in the wrs and I hate to see another one fall victim. I can't stress enough how valuable a cheap max drive disc is around here. You had a great lap and deserve to race with us as long as we are all on the same playing field.

Jerome

I had a nice start, right after T1 had little problems controlling car.
Also after T2 I took last 2 corners slower than usual :ouch:

Here's my replay from EDK's request:

No, I know that, Jerome. You can see what my problem is if you read my previous post. :) I know what holl01 did and I know what came of him in the WRS. As I'm not officially competing, this wasn't for verification - all I was trying to accomplish with the video was to show I wasn't making my time up or cheating, nothing more.
