I avoided the wet races in GTS like the plague, but decided to give this one a go since the cars seem less "darty" or "snappy" in GT7 when driving in the rain.

Slot 1: I finally managed to get into the same split as @Geauxgreddy. Too bad we were in different brands this time. @mohitraina91 was also here. I was too timid on my first flying lap in qualifying; so timid, in fact, that I went several tenths quicker on my next lap in spite of the track having less grip after the first attempt. It was still good for a mid-pack start in 11th (out of 18). I got shuffled back to 14th early in the race after losing momentum to people battling and colliding in front of me, but made up a couple of those spots due to an Atenza and a GT-R, who should've been way quicker than me, being on Hard tires when conditions required inters at least (I was on full wets). Another pass on a 458 put me back up to where I started in 11th to start Lap 4.

At Lap 7 I was back down to 12th as the pole-sitting GT-R, that got spun twice and got a wall penalty as a result on the opening lap, drove by me like I was standing still (he'd eventually finish 5th after being in last place at the end of Lap 1!). 1 lap later and I was up to 10th when the McLaren that was now directly in front of me went way too deep into T2, bounced off the the GT-R that was making its way back through the field, then got collected by another 458 and spun, allowing me by the 458 as well. This put me up to 10th. I had a scare with the outside wall at the final turn and nearly spun it but avoided a penalty at least. For the next 9 laps I was mostly by myself, slowly gaining on a Jag that was 3+ seconds ahead, while being caught much more quickly by an Aston behind. The Aston got into my slipstream but made a mistake at T2 and picked up a penalty, after which he wasn't a threat again. By now the rain had stopped and I was hoping the track wouldn't dry too quickly and ruin my full wet tires. Fortunately it didn't reach the "crossover" point with slicks until the very end of the race, by which point I'd caught the Jag at the end of Lap 17 and passed for 9th, which is where I would finish for the 2nd consecutive race. Also for the 2nd consecutive race, I came up just short of 200 points with 197. Unfortunately most of the tracks I want to run in this championship are Gr.4 races, and the Gr.4 Corvette just isn't that good with this BoP...

Slot 1: Entered, ran 2 laps of qualifying (if you can call it that). Realized 2 important things . . . I am running around with RH tires because I forgot to purchase rain tires, and that I am a D/S driver who cannot handle this track in the rain with RH tires. Quit the race before qualifying ended. Not sure if I lost any DR and/or SR by quitting during qualifying but who cares.

Slot 2: Entered with the correct tires, qualified 13th, finished 5th. Good race but don't know why I didn't get a Clean Race Bonus. Never hit another car, got hit by another car, or touched a wall. I am going to have to watch the replay to see if I missed something.

Off to Round 5 in Tokyo with the GR.3 Hyundai.

Enjoy your racing.

High Speed Ring

Slot 18:00

Qualified 12th with Intermediate tyres.
Let all drivers get out of pits, exit pits when was 8 mnts left. I now know that the track became wetter, as time went by.
And best qualy times were made at the beginning of the session.
Never mind that. It's done, it's done.

The start was very good and decent for all, once again I must commend all players for respecting each other in wet conditions.
I have done all race with wet tyres.
Finished in 14th - lost P13 for about half of a car - right behind an NSX.

The Jaguar seemed quite consistent on this combo, although quite consistently slow (the driver, I mean). >Hahahha
Seriously. I didn't go for another try, because I had lots of fun. It was not a boring race.
Many over takings during all race. All clean, I must repeat.

Last but not least by any means, a nice variety of cars.

Cheers

2022 GTWS Test Season 2 - Manufacturers Cup
Round 4 - High Speed Ring - GR4 McLaren
GT1 - A+

Slot 1
- Ok, lets just be honest, this is a great race for McLaren owners. I felt a little bad for my former Corvette ManuMate @GTWolverine who qualified in the mid-pack. Typically he has me by about 3 to 5 tenths. McLaren made up for the defiiciencies behind the wheel in this one! I had a error on qualifying and lost my best shot at pole on Lap 1. But managed a great lap 2 and brought in an 1:18.3xx on Intermediates.

After the GTR took a weird line in T1 and collided with P2, I followed the new P1 for about 9 laps, just stalking him really. Ready to pounce, until disaster struck and I got a penalty for tapping turn 2 wall with my rear end. Tha penalty probably cost me the win. Ended up battling for 2nd/3rd. But, I took home a podium and 289 or so points. Good enough to call it one and done.

Manufacturer race, GT1 DR A, qualified a dismal P14 on Wets, looked like most people used Intermediates. Race starts and I keep up to the group ahead, gain 2 positions, then a Cayman does a brutal tankslapper right in front of me. I barely make it around, almost went into the pits. The rain persisted and by mid race people are sliding all over, spinning, getting penalties etc, I guess they stayed on Intermediates. Now my Wets are really paying off. Had a nice clean battle with another Vette and a WRX. I kept it clean until the end, finished P5 with clean race bonus, 138 points, I'll take it.

Did the last slot and got an unexpected error during qualifying. The first time I've had a problem in seven races. That's going to wipe out my DR gains from my six-race podium streak. Oh well.

Nearly a thousand GTS races without a hitch. Seven races in GT7 and already had a problem.

:banghead:

I felt the same way.

It was clear beforehand that I would only be able to use 2 slots. ( Others claim that I have way too much time to play and therefore have an advantage.. well it doesn't seem to be the case )

Car = M4

Slot 1 at 6 p.m.:
Warmup starts, all good.. loading qualifying = error message :(

Slot 2 at 9 p.m.:
Warmup starts, everything is fine, I'm 4th on the track, immediately overtaking 3rd and then 2nd, while 1st has a half-lap lead (WTF?)
Qualifying starts.. I immediately get on RH and put the pressure on, come out of the pits as a ~6-7 driver and squeeze past the others as best I can, but one driver won't let me pass and even pushes me to the edge . Mind you in the lap after leaving the pits.. really great thing.
So I try to create as much distance as possible without being overtaken from behind. Start my lap where it is already getting wetter on the track.
Unfortunately, in the last corner, I catch up with the driver from before who had pushed me off the track and this time too, instead of just letting me pull clean, he sits in front of me and prevents me from passing on the straight, even though I have significantly more momentum can pull.
Result unfortunately only P2 for the race.
(In free practice I was able to achieve a low 1:16.2xx here I only achieved a disappointing 1:18.xx with a few tenths behind P1) I then tried to set a better time by changing to IM tires, but I couldn't more successful.
By the way, the driver who blocked me reached P12 for the race... great, isn't it?

So the race started and because I was a bit pissed off I forgot to change my RH to IM before the race.
The race started, I was able to move up to P1 immediately, but the other driver didn't drive well... not exactly clean... in every corner he braked inwards and then pushed me outwards, which happened in the rain and on RH in the first lap is still halfway, but is already impossible to hold in the 2nd lap.
So I spun after another touch in the last corner and had to let the field go.
So I went to the pits Im on it and GO.. I wanted to see what could still be saved... Unfortunately, a latecomer came from behind who probably also had problems with his tires.. and he caught me in the 2nd corner.
When I got going again I was already more than 1 minute behind the 1st in lap 3 and therefore I finished the race and my race day with 0 points.

We don’t get to run the High Speed Ring event until tomorrow in Australia. We do have Nations Cup tonight, of which Slot 1 was the dreaded black screen of death when Qualifying was meant to start.

Got the fabulous black screen of death with @Raptor013 I'm slot 1 of Nations. So much for a quick night.

Made slot 2 work somehow. Q8 on some fairly pedestrian pace, was 0.5 off my FP time. Got killed off the start, but survived a wild 3 wide through turn 1 anyway. Down in p10 and saw @Raptor013 punted into the walls in the 4 brothers, and others had a couple of issues. Somehow came out making places as people ran wide or caught penalties and I was p6. But there it ended. My utter bewilderment at this track even after 4 years caught up with me, and I dropped to p7. While I was well withing sight of even p3 I just cannot lap this place consistently enough and dropped back enough in pace that my last lap was simply cruising to hold position.

Overall not bad and had a couple of laps of good solid racing, clean except for a few minor mistakes. I'll take it. I hated the car and the track so having some fun and moving up a spot counts as a win I guess. I still feel this track is far and away my nemesis, everything on it feels wrong. Might revert to my earlier GTS procedure of skipping anything that involves this track and doing something else for the night.

And PD: your server maintenance didn't do much from what we saw. Lag, disconnections and a dead lobby.

I did the Nations race last night...two slots, one for my main and one for my alt (both B/S and in GT2).

I used the AMG SLS for both. The first race on my main opened the lobby with 19 racers. When qualifying started, only 9 of us remained. I went from Q9 to P6. I had a nice steady rhythm and ran consistent laps the whole race on intermediates. The wet meter remained in the middle the whole race.

My alt is a higher B than my main and I figured I would have the same race as my main....WRONG!
I qualified 11th and finished 11th because everyone behind me quit and I got lapped by the top 3. The main difference in this race was that the wet meter moved into the upper limit of the middle and at times it would breach the last third......I hit so many unseen puddles and spun so many times that I do not know how my car was drivable for the whole race.

If the meter reaches the upper limit of the middle, use heavy wets. I did not have them as I expected the same wetness as my first race. Heavy wets handled the puddles with less problems.

All of this leads me to a question....is the wet meter based on drivel level? In the past, when I have run back to back on my accounts, the second race is always better since I already had a race of practice but the extra wetness on this second race makes me think it also had something to do with driver ratings. Did anyone in GT3 need heavy wets? Were those in GT1 have heavy rain the whole race?

Replay from todays race featuring @Redneckchef and the other merry members of the Black Screen of Death gang.

As @Redneckchef said, this track/car combo wasn't great. I like the track, the racing in the early stage until I got punted was great (and yes that was me that forced the three wide into Turn 1). But the car. It was truly awful. Volkswagen should hang their collective heads in shame that they designed a built a car with all the handling of a pile of bricks, the acceleration of an overloaded truck and the braking performance of a cargo ship.

So, what's the verdict on the Gr4 Lambo in wet conditions?

The 4WD does help somewhat in that you can chuck the car around some but the understeer is even more pronounced to where I hit the barriers at least a dozen times the first time I tried running right against the wall. Decided for safer lines the next time.

Also, you can still spin the car in the rain as I found out the hard way, as did two GT-Rs!

Finally, the Lambo still got spanked by the BMW brigade, McLaren mob and the GT-R grunts on the straights. BOP changes can't come soon enough.

Qualified 18th, I'm typically pretty poor at stock road car racing dating back to Sport so was considering just quitting this one and going credit hunting on the world map instead. But I'm glad I decided to stick it out as the first few laps especially were a hilarious penalty fest as these little titanics slipped and rolled their way around the circuit.

All I really needed to do early was just not be aggressive and I made up places as at one point it seemed like every car around me was serving penalties.

The downside being the cars are so slow that those penalised were quickly back in the mix so making major gains remained difficult.

All in all this bump fest was an enjoyable few minutes and 11th place on a stock road car race I had a couple of practice laps at is a result I'm pretty satisfied with.

No need to sell yourself short! I could tell by the finishing gaps at the front it was a great race up there. Apparently I wasn't as quick as I thought I would be judging by how many other Corvettes managed to score more points than me yesterday. The Gr.4 Corvette still isn't great, but it's apparently a bit better than I've been able to get out of it so far...we'll see how I do at Fuji.

That view was mine too on lap one.

I only qualified P13 but the midfield was tight so it wasn't too bad. Predictably the lap 1 'snout' hairpin was predictable. Cars all over the shop. I went deep myself but didn't hit anyone. I went in 12th came out 10th. Ahead was about 4 or 5 cars with a penalty. Once they served them I was in 6th and on the tail of a Spaniard. I gradually closed on them and on lap 4 I was given the move into the snout hairpin. I was going to sit there for one more lap but they broke too straight and a little early so I went for the apex, made it and came out ahead. I pulled away as they made mistakes behind me. I could see 3rd and 4th battling and this allowed me to close before the end but was a lap too short of joining them. So a very welcome P5 and my best GT2 race with 70 odd points added to my bank.

Dragon Trail
VW Scirocco R Cup.

Qualified 15th on a 19 field.

Too many side contacts, maybe because of the kind of car/track or the driving style from players. Or everything mixed.
I keep watching pushing cars with unfair side contact, without penalty. It was a feast on early laps. No penalties.

Then, seemingly, drivers started to over driving (my guess), trying to catch the front cars.
That is when many began to hit the barriers and finally get some penalties.
Last two laps, were a decent and fair fight with 2 other players.
Luckily, I haven't any penalty and managed to finish in P8.

Cheers

Finally starting to look like something in the GTWS races. Only did 1 lap of practice for rd.4 of the Nations Cup, Scirocco one make at DT Gardens. I was improving literally every lap from practice to qualifying, last lap of qualifying was a 1.53.6, enough for a P2 on the grid. This was surprising given my quali struggles so far (best GTWS quali before today, was P8). Maybe I had talent for this combo, and maybe I wasn't the only one who barely did any practice? 🤔

The race then, I had a better launch than the pole sitter, took the lead into the fast t1. Could not break away immediately, so I was forced to defend most of lap 1. Noticed the pole sitter Spaniard being very fast behind me, so I did not defend and decided to let him go on last turn of lap 1 and started to work together instead of fighting. I wanted to ensure a P2 at least, and I did not want to invite others for the fight. Since I practiced so little, I figured the consistency is not there. That was correct, however the middle sector was where the race was lost, not due to occasional inconsistency. But hey, P2, 186 pts, I take it, way ahead of drivers in P3 and worse finishers.

This proves that sometimes it is better to race smart, instead of being very aggressive and desperate to win at all costs. Could have been involved in some fighting and lost out more than a P1 or P2, very easy to do here (done some dailies at DT Gardens in GTS, using sports cars, daily race a).

I felt bad about lunging into the back half of the sausage chicane because the first half put me way off the line, but then I felt better watching it back as two people came across into the corner and left no space for me anyway. They then proceeded to cut across the grass and T-bone me into the 3rd sausage corner.

Still finished P2.

Felt great until I saw the point spread. Good lord I thought I was starting to sniff DR C lol

The new patch doesn't address the GTWS connection problems and doesn't appear in the known issues, either. That's worrying unless PD is working on it server side. I was perusing the standings and there are a large amount of players with zero points in some races. You can only get zero points by finishing dead last in a room where no one disconnects and given that we always seem to lose a player or two before the race, I find it improbable that top split players are going from 400-point races to finishing dead last for zero points. The number of zeroes in the standings clearly reflects disconnections, and there are lots of them.

So ran slot 1 of the delayed manufacturers race in Asia at HSR in the rain. It was a bit of a mess to say the least. I just ran straight wet tires the whole time, even in qualifying. Qualified p10, but knew 7 of the laps ahead of me were set on Racing hards on first Q lap.

At the start it gets messy, an Atenza Goss around the outside but starts spinning. There's a wrecked car at the first sharp left. Then as we head to the final corner there are cars everywhere.
And a yellow flag appears.
And despite all Hut 1 car being sideways, and all cars being ghosted I get a 3 second yellow flag penalty as I drive up to p5. This is the beginning of the downfall. As soon as I'm done serving that I get slammed in the rear by someone going 2 wide and not seeing me. 5 second penalty. 2 laps after that I graze the wall in the final turn, 1.5 penalty. 2 laps after that 3 leaders wreck in turn 1 as the rain gets heavy. Yellow flag, 3 second penalty. A couple of laps later a 1.5 as I wiggle entering the tunnel, and then on lap 17 a 1.5 for apparently touching the wall in the final turn.

Despite all that there was some good side by side racing with a couple of people and somehow moved up 2 spots to finish p8. So I'm classing it as a good run despite it being quite possibly almost as frustrating as my quest to not be lapped at Interlagos.

Did slot 2 at HSR in the rain. Ran qualy and the full race on inters.

Qualified 11 of 18, by lap 4 I was p6 as people went off all over the place. My hubris was short lived as, on lap 8, I touched a puddle just off the drying line out of turn 1 and hit the wall. Spin, 3 second penalty and DFL by the time I was facing the right way again.

The rest of the race was spent running alone and only making up spots when people spun or pitted. Finished p15 for 101 points. Didn’t enjoy it, won’t go again.

Yep got the dates mixed up. So tomorrow is a kart race, find those near impossible using a G29

They can be tough, G29 player myself. For me it helps reducing both the steering sensitivity and forceback sensitivity, compared to the setup I use for all the other cars. That makes the steering of the car less 'light feeling'.
