I've been worrying about this for a bit. I loved the challenge that, say, the kart challenges are capable of providing (You have to be near flawless to complete them), but because I'm not really challenging myself.

Whenever the game forces me to challenge myself, I get frustrated if I fail consecutively. The other licenses had some challenging tests, but I've managed gold on them. How much harder are the S-licenses to gold? Should I have any problems? Are there any tips you can provide? Thanks in advance.

I can say I am a pretty decent GT player, but the S-licenses are the last thing I will get to. I got silver on most of them, but I can tell they will be a PITA to finish on gold especially that Ascari one with the Veyron. Not GT5 Vettel Challenge hard, but hard enough that it will take some time to finish them up.

I found them a mixed bunch, I think I have 2 gold and 2 silver but I've yet to navigate the supertanker up the serpentine :banghead:

For me at least the s licenses were not much more of a challenge than the ia ones. Maybe two to three tries for gold on each with 2-3 seconds faster than the gold time. The veyron one was actually the easiest for me I think I ran somewhere around a 2:11.xxx on my second run.

Not nearly as difficult as GT5. Only the Veyron was a bit of a pain. Just need smooth driving, get a few laps under your belt and learn courses.

lets just say they aren't as hard as the redbull-goodwood challenge....i did get a 27.928 in that challenge though.

They are harder than the rest and the veyron is quite easy if you do a sighting lap or 2 to learn the track then its just a matter of late braking and giving it power after a corner.

The one I found hardest and took me many tries to gold was the first one with the gt86 some reason I could not gold it then I followed @FaisalBnNasser video and changed my line. Only 3 braking points for that test, the first corner, the hairpin and just before the chicane that corner. The rest is flat out.

I found the S license in gt5 easier since the aventador gave me trouble sometimes but managed it in 5-6 tries.

I was in good shape until the last two, but they're definitely more difficult than the other license tests by a significant degree. The Aventador gave me fits in the first corner, but once I got that sorted I was in good shape. I'm stuck on bronze in the Veyron at Ascari though. Of course, I'm not very familiar with Ascari and the Veryon is oil to my driving style's water; I really have to work hard to adjust to a fast car with understeer.

Ive played every Gt series & golded every license test & I guess most people on here have as well. Previous S license tests they utilised different tyres on varing surfaces. Gt6 however they use the same crappy SH tyres so most of the cars handle identically so all you get is brake understeer, I wish they picked better compounds then tighten up the gold times.

I think they are pretty easy compared to the GT5 tests. I managed to gold them all. You just have to learn how to get the most out of the car and build on your lap times.

I think of them as practice sessions like in the F1 series, go out and set a time, even if it fails and then go and build on it, trying to make each corner faster and tighter.

Just have to work on it. That's my only advice, oh and change the ghost to a line ;)

So basically the same strategies as all the others, play till you either:
Memorize the course enough to late break and still make all the turns.
Get lucky.
Or, throw your controller at a brick wall (I did this on Gran Turismo 5, then gave up on the licenses).

Thanks everyone, I'm going to unlock them over the week, and use the weekend to clear them.

I've got gold in all but the 4th one. It's an Aventador around Brands Hatch and you sort of have to drift the thing through the corners while accelerating. I worked on it for an hour or so last night and I'm still 3/10ths short of gold. The other 4 weren't that bad. People say S-5 is hard (the Veyron on Escari) but I found it was just a matter of braking very early, turn the wheel well before you've reached the corner (so that massive pig will have started to turn by the time you reach the corner) and sliding it around a bit. The first three tests weren't bad, you just have to get used to the cars handling and work out your braking points and figure out how much throttle you can give the cars in the corners without the back end spinning out. One of them at Willow Springs is in the dark, so just turn the driving line on so you can see where you're going.

Lambo at Brands Hatch drove me nuts today, got it though. First three weren't bad... Haven't tried to gold the last one yet.

in the same boat. just cant find that extra 0.5 of a second on brands

All the tests Ive had tcs on 0, Golded the 1st 3 without to much drama. However the Lambo at Brands Ive found switching the ASM on Ive ripped a few seconds off my previous times & Im 1/2 a second off gold. This track reminds me of laguna very hard to find braking/exit points on corners. If I nail this Ill do the same with the Bug at Ascari.

With the Veyron, I tried not to cut corners my first few laps cause I was afraid of being penalized, but only when I realized with Ascari, you pretty much have to plow straight through them, I golded it instantly. Sheesh, driving that was like someone putting a pair of wheels to a bag of bricks, except the bag of bricks has better handling.

Bingo. I bronzed that one and took that and ran. It's not that it's *hard*-hard - it's just that the car's a pig, and its weight tends to carry it waaaaayyyy wider coming in and out of turns than you'd expect it to. It's fast, but not very fun, and Ascari is just too tight a course for the Veyron to really do anything but wallow around like a pig in mud.

Just golded the Lambo at brands & veyron at Ascari everything off except ASM & ABS on 1. The gold at Ascari came on only my3rd full run. HaHa.:p

Basically just treat it as practice laps, know which corners you can cut to prevent DQ or ones that you have to go around. With Ascari, all the corners are cuttable to an extent, the hardest thing is finding the apex of the corner in a car that weighs nearly 2000kg and has 900hp. Even if you do find the apex, the car is so heavy it swings around it but understeers like cement.

I really wish the license events - at least the full-lap events - were set up like the seasonal time trial events, where you could just keep turning laps, even if they didn't count because of one small mistake or off you might have - just keep going, trying to work on that "golden" lap.

Of course, that would mean they'd have to be a rolling start, but that doesn't seem to negatively affect the time trial events.

I managed to gold most of them with ease, however the X-Bow challenge I kept mucking up and spinning at the end when I had a gold in my reach(my friend was behind me and he got gold) but I still got it eventually and the Veyron challenge, took me like 10 tries to do it.

I did them last night in around an hour.

I was going to wait until I'd got my wheel set up, but decided to try the 1st one with the pad and golded it 2nd try. So I thought I'd try the others. Used traction control on the Alfa, but other than that I thought they were very, very easy. Beat the XBow one 1st try, and the Veyron by over 2 seconds once I worked out the braking points.

Use to be a time when License tests were a real challenge :(

But I guess this time around the challenge is of another form. Golding them might be easy, but beating your friends or people on the leaderboard for that matter is where the challenge truly lies. That's what makes the licenses fun for me.

Yeah, but then people complain about how they're too hard and elitist and the special prizes for doing it count as "locked content" they've paid for and so should have access to.

Everybody's special now and must be told they're good. Failure is, literally, not an option.

No. No, they're not hard.

I barely got bronze on all of them.. The Willow springs night run frustrated me to a point I just had to quit and move on with the other tests. Then did it again and got bronze on the 2nd or 3rd try. Sometimes it just best to step back for a while and re do them with a clear head :)
The Veyron at Ascari was a pita (for me) though. I think I at least needed 30~40 tries to finally get bronze :banghead:

I golded every other license without too much trouble, but with the S license I just took what I could get and ran....

The upside though, I pretty much know every inch of Ascari now xD

But like Kwicko said, I too wish full laps were like time trails.. Having to restart every time really frustrated me to a point I almost ripped my wheel off of it's stand and threw it out the window...

For Willow Springs, I turned my TV brightness up to full and the in game brightness setting to +1.0... looked terrible, but at least I could see where I was going

I think all are very easy (compare with GT5), is normal to obtain the gold improving the gold time over 1s and in Veyron licenses over 2-3s.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys, didn't get to play Monday, but I'll try and unlock them today.
