I bought GT5P in both the US & JP CD additions. I also bought the new Gran Turismo 5 sponsored "Driving Force Pro" steering wheel.

After this latest update I just cannot seem to find a group of people that don't want to punt you into a wall or sand trap on every corner. What gives?:grumpy: The anonymity of the Internet seems to bring out the worst in people. I have started to regret the money invested into this game and find myself using the steering wheel on GT4 more and more now. I really hate to feel this way about the latest in my all time favorite game series. I mean I have every GT game ever made but this has turned me off to the "real driving simulator".

BTW, I am living in Japan now and so the hours I get to play might be the opposite of the GTP crowd here. We also have a new addition to the family which drastically reduces my game playing time. So when I get a chance to play it is precious to me. PLEASE HELP!!! I hope that the newest update allows for a friends list or something to avoid these idiots....

I also miss the format of GT4 where you can actually go to tune shops. Am I alone in these feelings.

Thanks for listening and good luck for good races to all of you!

I hope to see some of you online soon,

-Nate

Unfortunatly you'll get idiots in all online games. Its a fact of life, they have no social life so they seem to want to proove theyre the best by cheating on some online game. People like you just wanna go on there and have a good race but theyre obsessed with winning :grumpy:
I can't comment much because I dont have GT5:P and a PS3 just yet, but one of my friends has them and he has a similar problem with online racers :(

Thanks for your thoughts. I hope that you get a PS3 soon.

Hey Nate,
You cant help the punters, but every now and then you will find a good crowd, especially in the JPN timezone when the servers shouldnt be so full.

Try adding a few people from here, who are in your same time zone (or APAC), as friends on your PS3 and you can orgnaise some racing through the forum or the PS3 Chat.. the more "friendly" racers you have who all join at once will limit the number of punters you get in a game. (I'll add you tonight when I get home)

Use the Online Racing PAL thread to try and tee up some people who are online when you are...

888tuning thanks I too will add you. I guess that we can organize and at least have a little fun.

Do NOT go to BEGINNER or INTERMEDIATE races! There is biggest problems cause they are full of kids and morons, who cant drive clean. They cant handle PRO-physics, so they mostly stay on those races. Only EXPERT is recommended.

I have too agree with you wholeheartedly and I must add that I do race 99.9% of the time in the expert races. I also agree that the pro physics are much better than the lower levels. The current Expert PP750 race is ridiculous with the punting. I'll stop whining though. Also I want to add that I am not claiming to be the best driver but I am usually pretty competitive.

Thanks for your input,

-Nate

I wonder if the PRO races simply have a more skillful level of punter since, unless they DL'd a gamesave, they'll have had to unlock PRO mode through single player events.

If on expert races there aren't any punters ...
Fuji T1... Sometimes it's worse there then on T1 at suzuka.

@EVO9NATE,

I find it a challenge to outrun or predict the punter actions.
In that way , I do like racing online at intermediate Suzuka.

Grtz

Yeah everybody's annoyed by these idiots but there is really no way of stopping it unless Polophony Digital ban them all from the game. That would be great.

I miss the tuning shops and wheel shop as well :) Your not alone! :) I'm not going to whine about punters... done that enough already.... such a waste of time...

The tunes shops and wheel shops and probably 800 more cars (random guess, who knows) and a whole heap more tracks will come in the full game guys.

I played a game in intermediate or beginner the other night where I think half of the pack were just cutting through the grass to get around a corner. I'd look left on Suzuka and see 5 or 6 cars all kicking up dirt and driving through the run off. WTF.

Yes, thats right 800 cars and all the tracks... the old school ones... Trial Mountain was one of my favorites :) I also miss B-spec mode... hehehe then I could just sit on the couch and eat chips while I told the driver to pass or push hard heheheh :) those were the days ... LOL :dopey:

yeah.. penalties seem to not exist in the beginner classes, but even in Pro you can totally short cut Degner : ( I really cant see this being coded on purpose.. maybe an oversight from PD here.

Well it's just a prologue :sly: the prologues where always a bit short of everything ( specially GT4p....)
I f you find the right [time frame/ people] you can have lots of fun online, but it can be very time consuming, try to make Japanese friends, some of the fastest and honourable players i know are from there :)

edit / Do you have PAL or NTSC game?

EVO9 like others have said, try add some gamers from the forum or GTP Team members, i race with them alot and its all 100% clean and very close racing, I know what you mean about random n00bs just going for gold and pushing you off track etc, but you will get use to these ppl and enjoy your racing, just thank goodness its not Forza2 were a little love tap will cause you a massive spin and a blown engine and zero downforce for the rest of your race now that stinks.

Trial Mountain was one of my favorites

that's because trial mountain was ballin.

What PD could do, is convert the races needed to play in 'expert races' to online, and when you beat them the server stores your account saying that you're allowed to compete in those events. That way, people who didn't earn it can't just download save games and start punting in the expert events.

Ah well, who cares about downforce when the engine is blown ;p

In my experience the japanese players are quite clean, maybe it's the excelent ethics they have over there (never been there but i heard stories of people forgetting their wallet on a car while going to rave, to find it untouched when they returned; don't try that in europe.

I could go and rant how some european countries are worse then others, but hey it shouldn't be the loosers that determine what we talk about.

I find the HSR pro reasonably clean, had lots of nice races there and i try to stick to the 10 minute interval timings, the more gtp/gtrp/tew players on, the better the racing (and the worse my finishing, lol).

Fuji is a bit rough indeed, but still a lot of fun winning in a ferrari 599 or 430 from frustrated punters, lol.

I think i'll go and spin a bit in the corvette on the HSR, it's time i learn how to handle that slippery machine

I hope to see you there one time Nate.

(keep an eye on the 'race events' and chat to try and get yourself a race with all tagged racers (not a recipy for no punting at all, but it seems a lot more sportive and enjoyable).

race you later.

I am not sure if I consider myself a enthusaist or not. But I do play a lot, however I find myself growing weak from the lack of competition, few tracks to race online and shoty physics. So it is safe to say that I won't be playing GT5P too much longer.

But hey, we have a online chat room in the events part of the forums. You might be able to find some fanatics left there.

Good Luck,

Chad

Yea the chats a good place to find a couple of good guys, i need to get on there more. Last time i was in the chat i got some fantastic battles on Fuji :)

3 lap races encourages rash moves, a 10 lapper would allow you to gradually move through the field.

I have to agree that 10+ lap races would eliminate most guys with the First name "Mo" and last name "Ron" coming on a ruining the game play. There are a lot of "Morons" playing online currently. I also hate the current race track choices and level of PP700+. I prefer to keep it below PP600 it seems to be more realistic and produces closer matches.

I have also noticed that lately if someone comes into a corner hot they can cut you off and although you are full on the brakes you will still get the ramming charge. I cannot tell you how annoying that is when trying to run a clean race at all costs. I even run an un-prefered slower racing line to avoid the "Morons", to know avail.

Cheers,

-Nate

I find one solution (for Fuji 750 at least) is to use a Tuned car so you can brake later, harder, faster and keep a higher apex speed then most of the drivers out there. Yes you get beat on the straight but they're less likely to hit you there.

Me and my friends were yesterday racing in Fuji. We had 700PP cars for everybody. All Morons passed us before first corner, and we got what we wanted... clean tight race together, and we manage to get final straight every race in 30sec after winner.

Everybody won...morons got their win, and we got good racing.
