I'm pretty average to bad but my excuse is that I'm waiting to learn to be better for when I get a wheel. Don't want to waste my time learning on a controller :sly:

That said I've got all gold in N-B and N-A but only silver my first run through, it took me a revisit once I got the hang of the game a bit better to get gold. I did the first two Top Gear tests alright, but my strength seems to be in late braking to overtake which is what those tests are all about.

I drive with all default settings (TCS 5, ABS 1, Wet/Loose surface on easy) except the oversteer corrector thing that's on by default. If I get too frustrated with something I turn it on. Yes I still use the driving line because I don't know the tracks well enough... even the GT4 ones since it's been 5 years since I last played GT4. The driving line is pretty useless on some tracks though.
 
In the earlier games I would be 100% complete and gold all licences. I used to do licences etc over and over to get good times to post online. Most times were ranked very high. One licence entry was the fastest I could find in the online databases. but I am most proud of a time from GT4P. A mid engine race car that had to do I think 15 laps at fuji speedway and overtake all the other racecars. I was maybe 6th fastest. That challenge is difficult and exciting.

I drive MT, with a wheel, no aids. now I just attempt a good time in the licences a few times and I get gold on first attempts sometimes. My starting car was honda civic and the only mods I have done are gold paint, carbon bonnet, rear wing and new wheels to give it a nice riced up look. I sell all my prize cars and only buy nice rides from showroom and I mostly keep them standard.
 
Thing is, all this traction/ abs talk depends on the car. If it's a 700 bhp rwd monster, I'm sorry, but tcs on 5, abs on 5. If it's a fiat 500 (even one tuned up to 60bhp), I'm quite rock and roll, I turn EVERYTHING off. I am crazy like that.
 
No matter how good you are remember, there is always somebody better.

I am ok, nothing more. I can gold all the license tests with pad + auto tranny, that's about my biggest achievement in GT5 so far.
 
Gold licenses and such aren't really a good way to measure the skill of a driver. The licenses and events are just an obstacle to getting money for the cars. Its all about the online. đź‘Ť
 
I'm considering I'm normal - Good driver.

Im Rally driver in real life so I think, I know in wich direction the thing goes đź‘Ť

Also I was Karting driver in the past.

Driving in Simulation mode with all the AIDS and driving heps OFF. No driving line and of course CLEAN driving :dopey:

I complete the game around 45 % and level 22.

I complete all licences in no more of two tryes for each one, with some many golds and the last two licence categoryes with whole golds too.

More than 85% of especial events sucessfully completed with full Seb Loeb Challenge, Top Gear Events & AMG Academy Golds.

I have 100% in all GT games. Gold on all licenses on every game.
GT5 Gold all special events up to level 15 that I'm on right now. Gold on all
licenses. I'm a top 3 driver on F1 2010 online time trail under the name of kanelbulle_eu.
Havn't lost a race online to this date.
Always race offline races with no help, online i drive with ABS1.

ATM I'm focusing on B-spec mode, (signature edition competition) but I'm deeply sorry that it's not gonna be decided who wins the SLS amg on driving skills.
 
Once upon a time I thought I was at GT master (days of GT3). Then, I found :gtplanet: and I decided I was terrible, only better than the people who had briefly played a GT game, and decided they liked painting tribals on the sides of Mitsubishi Eclipses more (don't get me wrong, I want a livery editor so bad for GT5!).
As I look at this thread though, I guess I am maybe Average or slightly above. I never had GT5P so I don't know how I would have stacked up. The time trial was right while I was trying to finish my Comprehensive project so that I could graduate from college, haha. Here are my current stats:

Only completed A and B licenses so far because I haven't needed the others. I have 2 golds and 18 silvers. In Special Events I have all golds in Beg and Int Karting and Nascar, Gold for sambabus, mostly golds and silvers in Intermediate Rally (but haven't done beginner rally yet, haha) and Grand Tour. I haven't tried the other Special events too much, but to those of you who lack confidence in yourself on the Nurburgring, the AMG event is a godsend. It lets you isolate the sections and run them over and over, which was always my problem with the track: it was so long that by the time I got back to the corner I messed up on the previous lap, I couldn't remember what went wrong.
I play with a Driving Force EX with no aids except ABS on 1. I think all this puts me around a 6 or 7 on the scale?
 
I don't use any assists except ABS 1 simply because its too hard to gauge the feel of the brakes to properly use them 100%.

I don't know how many times I attempted my license tests for A & B, those are the only ones I have done so far I haven't spent much time with GT over the last few days.

I do know that I have experience driving real cars on race tracks, and driving other sims. I was in the first group to ever hold a "Pro" license with iRacing.com simulations.

Tons of people are going to be good, tons of people can pull fast laps, its who can stay consistent and safe while doing it that is impressive.
 
The only time i use ABS is if im driving a standard road car as they all have it, any race car or really tuned one everything is off, no ABS or TCS.

Iv got 22 Golds, 27 Silver and 11 Bronze.

Any special challenge is Golded, ill keep going till i get Gold, same with the race series.

I use a DFGT, and not using ABS is tricky but the feeling of accomplishment is fantastic.

I havent done any online racing as no-one wants to race without ABS or TCS, its a bit frustrating.

I consider myself rather good and used to win regularly online on GT5 Prologue but im gonna complete GT Life before i delve into online.

Playing GT4 taught me how to drive and i passed my test after 4 lessons first time with 3 minors.
 
ABS 1, everything else OFF. Over the years there's no1 I know in real life that could actually beat me at games I played. Online there seem to be some people that own me any day of the week. I guess I could blame that on becoming old and being under the influence of certain substances :D I used to be a pro-gamer about 10 years ago in Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 and Counterstrike 1.6 / Source. Won several tournaments, prizes and fame. Today I'm just a gamer for fun, and obviously not as dedicated anymore since I have a job and gf now :D

About GT5 again: Don't have too many golds yet in the licenses, but about 90-95% was silver or bronze in the first go. If I tried some more I could get gold on pretty much all of them, i think :P

All in all I can be a great race, but usually I lose my concentration somewhere (especially with 5 laps or more) and fly off the track horribly :D I play with a driving force PRO steering wheel.

For now, I have all assists turned off except ABS=1 and TCS at 1, only because I am still getting used to using the other joystick for analog throttle/brake, and can't mimic what I would be able to do with I could use a foot to do it. Eventually, I will evolve. I am probably not going to use input pedals and steering wheel. If I had a dedicated room for games, I might.

Personally I do not see where using ABS or not using ABS makes one a good driver nor TCS.

Yes these two features makes it easier in some cars especially for those who can not throttle or brake smoothly they can also make you slower. I can drive with or without TCS and normally use ABS=1, TCS varies based on car, track and tires equipped, no ASM or other handling aids.

It appears that tire wear is a non factor in career mode which to me is a bit of a dissapointment since you can now run race soft in most A-Spec races and not worry about needing to pit.

I learned in GT4 that TCS could make a major difference in a race no matter how well you drive. I did some testing and found that I could run med race tires with a TCS = 7 on the CLK GTR, I was faster off the line, faster laps and more laps before needing tire change than if the TCS was set at 5. Tire choice and tire wear was a big factor there and the bumpy tracks would tend to cause a bit of wheel spin over each bump wearing the tires out faster on several tracks where a little higher TCS setting would help reduce this effect at full throttle down the straight on Lemans for example.

As for how good I am I guess I am somewhere between middle of the road and good depending on the car, track and day. I only have 4 Golds in the driving tests so far but have not did the Ia nor S yet and the others I just took one run at them and whatever I got is what I got. Later I will go back and gold as many as possible. Also recently started driving with a wheel PWTS and am still getting used to it. Had an issue with the throttle pedal when I did the A and B tests without knowing it I was only getting 95% throttle still got silver on several of them the first time out and at least bronze on all of them on the first an only try.

Special events I reached gold pretty easy on the first few most on the first try. The most noteable would be the rally intermedate Alaska track. I never was much for rally races but that one was pretty cool. I ended up beating the oponents by a little over a minute on the first try even though I had 3 wall contact penalties from skidding into the barrier and got spun out by one of the AI cars in one spot bad enough that I had to use reverse and turn around. Apparently that is an easy race to win.

I also got silver on the first try in the first 2 parts of the AMG school.
 
I'd rate myself decent. It depends on the car and the track. I still have trouble clocking a clean lap on the Ring. When I'm clipping corners and sliding just enough to be fast but not out of control is when my confidence begins to rise. Then, I'll underestimate a turn and find myself in the grass attempting to countersteer and downshift my way back to safety.

I manage a few golds in license tests. Mostly, I get bronze (the "you bought the game so we have to give your sorry butt something for being here trophy).

In my past online racing experiences, I find that I spend a lot of time trying not to be a hinderence to competitors and so my focus on that cuases me to be too slow to get anything other than an "also-ran" rating. I hope to improve on that in GT5 online events with racers I can trust here.

I use a G25 on manual with ABS set to 1 for most racing events. Sometimes I'll dial in some TCS but mostly I go with only the ABS assist. When I'm feeling really frisky I'll turn everything off. I still use the line while I'm learning tracks and developing my comfort zone. Maybe I'll turn off the line after a few weeks into the game.

One thing I've learned is that the wheel doesn't make me much faster. It does allow me to control my cars in finer increments; especially with accelerating out of turns. But, it doesn't give me an automatic win over controller racers. But, I'm an old guy and I need all the help I can get these days.

Ah well, the bottom line is I love this game and I am having fun. I'm very good at having fun with GT.
 
I suppose i'll post my stats.

I try to only use the aids that the vehicle would offer in real life. If the car had ABS, I use it (as you can't really turn that off unless you have an Audi coupe from 1990). If it didn't, then it get's turned off.

Same with the TCS. Quite a few higher end cars won't let you turn it off completely in reality, so those get turned down to 1. Others get turned off.

No driving line. It's pretty evident by the rubber groove on the track anyhow.

I've got gold on the B License and wouldn't settle for anything less than silver on all the others, but that was before i hooked up my steering wheel. I'll head back to better those later. Few golds in there as well.

Gold on all Super License.

Same goes for the special events. Nothing less than silver. I've got gold on the beginner AMG Nurburgring, and one silver on the intermediate (last challenge with the SLS and the dead weight cars on the track). Gold on advanced (wet 300SL), once i hit level 24, i can challenge the expert level.

Honestly, i've had to make quite a few attempts (90% on the special events), but really only because of the disqualification by touching other cars. Mainly when having to pass 16 cars in the time span of one lap. I mean come on...really?

Oh, and for the ice race with the Lotus Elise on the Top Gear track.

I've also been playing racing games for as long as I remember. Really don't want to sound like i'm tooting my own horn. I just hold myself to a high standard when it comes to driving/racing. I love studying race tracks and how cars react and feel differently. I like finding the perfect line through every corner and memorizing the tracks like the back of my hand. Doing all this in a car that I modified and tuned just the way I want it makes the experience all that much better.

I am normal - good. Not very close to the best but close enough for me.
In Prologue I was 1.5 to 2 seconds of the top 10 in the world in time trials and that translated to winning many races online and usually being at least top 3 in online races and always in the top 100 in time trial rankings. Can't wait till we have time trial leaderboards in GT5 :) . I drive clean and move over if someone is on my tail in online races.
I don't bother with gold licenses, especially not now that we still can't back up our saves.
I do not use driving aids except abs on level 1, because like someone said it is too difficult with the toy pedals to find the right pressure.
I never obsess about winning or record times. The main reason I play the game is having fun with driving.
 
I suck at time trails,but i consider myself a very good 'racer',meaning being able to judge situations with others on the track(seeing things before they happen),and then react accordingly.This sometimes causes me to be overly careful,and mess up ''my'' race.:dunce:

I found that in GT5 unlike any other car game, it gives you an advantage if you know how to drive good in real life. So to me it seems not as much a game as it is a simulator of real driving. In this "game" I am the closest to the top people in the world compared to any other game where you have to learn how to play the game (like a shooter or something). In GT5 its seems all you have to know is how to drive. Not how to play.
 
I've never touched driving assists, despite being a god-awful driver. It's not that I can't control the vehicle, I just seem to lap slower than everyone else. :lol:

I am "mediocre".

- I use a dual shock:
- I use all the driver aids I can.
- I ALWAYS use the driving line (although I have started to take my own lines on certain points of the Nurburgring).
- I usually get bronzes first go on the special events and licences, all silvers with a bit more effort and the occasional gold.
- I spent an hour and a half trying to get gold on the top gear beginner challenge.

I was usually ranked somewhere between 300 and 500 on the GTp time trials.

The final stage of the nurburgring in the intermediate AMG special stage actually frightens me at times. (I have silver - still going for gold).
 
I am amazing, easily the best sim racer in my house.

In actual racing I do pretty well. I always use comparatively outfitted cars (no McLaren F1 for British Lightweight Cup) and usually always get gold on the first try. I don't have the balls to go online yet. I have reservations after experiencing racing on line with Forza 3, it was a joke and full of immature retards who do nothing but bump, block, run you off the track. When I get my skill level up (I'm going to go back and get as many golds as I can in the licenses...as I now have a DFGT and did the licenses with a control pad) I'll join the on line racing. I'm hoping the GT on line racing community is more mature than that of Forza.

So, with all of that said, I would put myself in the "upper-intermediate" skill-level zone with this game. I just need to get some more seat time....

In licenses and special events, I have all gold medals (apart from the ones I haven't tried yet.

I can not run one lap of the Nurburgring cleanly for the life of me. I need to memorize it to stand a better chance.

I can pass the special events with gold trophys.

I haven't even tried online yet, but prolouge I was coming in the top 2 alot of the time, few people may remember me (GTP_NOS).

In prolouge I was #1 for ALOT of the cars on fuji speedway time trials however I then stopped playing prolouge.
 
I am not good thats for sure. Because i know some people from other games and ohh boy compared to them i completely suck.

I drive with ABS 1 and everything else is off. Using a G25 shifting with manual with the paddles.

I mostly get Bronze or silver when i try licenses. Have done some of them a few times to get gold.

Most importantly for me is i have fun, and i like the challenge when not using any aids. I will defenetly try to gold, and complete everything in the game, although im sure it will take me very long time. Thats not a problem for me though. Since i plan to spend a lot of time playing over the years to come.

bronze first time unless I hit a wall or something. Ive had a few silvers first time. And just 4-5 golds first time

on a scale of 1-10 I would say Im a 6. Better than most of the people I know, but some of them just kill me
 
I usually play simracing on PC but with the high expectations of gt5 I just had to buy it.

I´m using a G25 and I don´t use any driving aids,
Really impressed with the drivers using controller, can´t imaging driving with it :)

I´ve golded all licenstest and special events except the last amg academy event beacuse it demands lv 24.

So far I enjoy the game very much even though it has some issues.
My biggest dissapointment is the online mode, think it´s way to complicated to invite friends and have som fair races. If anyone is up for some nice clean races pm me!
