I will defitnetly be playing online it gets old racing computers all the time why do that when you can race your friends and stuff I mean I got high speed internet just for these kinda games Im ready to roast some tail with that saleen lol :D

What cheats are there for online ps2 games when their [ps2 game companies] dnas system prohibits of any machine running none sony signed code from being connected tot he online servers?

Online Racing would be the best. The ability to race with other GOOD people and not the crappy driving ability of your cousion. :irked:

I also heard of this penalty where if you hit a wall or an obstacle you will slow down. (no more flying at 100mph on a 40mph turn :D)

What kind of cheats were their for any Gran Turismo game that affected your car handling  only ones i've seen are infinite money or getting cars in garage.

I probably won't be playing online for a long time, since although I have a broadband connection, I don't plan on getting a network adapter for a long time since I will want to complete the SP part of the game first, which will take months just to unlock all the cars.

I'll be playing online if I can get a straight answer about my connection. NTL:Home advertises their ps2 online capabilities but only with the 600k and 1Mb connections. I have the 150k. It doesn't say anywhere that 150k WON'T work but it doesn't say anywhere that it will. Of course if you phone them up then you get the "oh yea you'll need the super expensive option" lines so I'll have to get emailing people.

It'll work fine with a 56k dial-up.

I say "fine"... It'll WORK... :D But quicker is better, obv... :D

It should be alright on cable,
Danm FS Broadband only supply USB modem so need to get myself an Ethernet modem now as the network adaptor apparently requires an ethernet connection.

P.S I thought the network adapter was designed to be broadband/cable only no 56k phone connection.

911 any connection will work, just some connection types (not speed) might need more expertise help to set up...I will be for sure playing online, dont have 10 mbits for no reason:

PS there are usb:ethernet adapters I think and it does support 56 modems...xbox only supports ethernet connections

Anyone know if the network adapter will work through a standard little hub + Internet Connection Sharing through PC?

Heard that you could somewhere, I certaintly hope you can, otherwise if I wanted to play online I'd have to buy a new ADSL modem + the adapter :irked:

no high speed...
no network adaptor...
no money...
no time...

Are thoughs good enough reasons?

Oh and don't want to waste my time.

i would almost say that this is a pretty stupid question....

got the PS2 and the broadbandconnection so the answer is: 👍

He meant the question in the thread title not your post. Are you going to play online???? If someone is replying to your post, they'll usually quote you unless it's the next post down.

There are usually too many cheats online. With the absence of patches to make up for cheating, online play is not something I'm looking forward to.

This may be true, but since it's a closed system (console) it's not possible to run additional code or modfiy the game as is required by most game hacks/cheats on computer.

It is possible to run arbitrary code - Gameshark does it, it also allows you to edit memory as you like. You can also intercept the outgoing data with your pc and modify it on the fly. These techniques are already in use with PC cheaters.

The only way I will play online is if my family gets Cable for Christmas. This is highly unlikely though. I really want it too because I am sick of 56k. It is too slow.

I would play online bit Im guessing you would need broadband and I dont have broadband.

I have Broadband but I'm not sure if my PS2 will work properly through my modem. I'm gonna try NFS underground to see how it is untill then I'll sort it out eventually:)

Has anyone yet run arbitary codes on the sony online networks? Because the gameshark by passes the some sony protections but has it yet worked online? Because isnt it so that the ps2 server checks that you arent running arbitary codes?

You need to get a Linksys Router preferably with a 4-port switch. That way you can have your computer and your PS2 online at the same time. It manages all the connection setups and stuff then creates a private network for your home.

They're less than $100 at any computer store.
