My truck doesn't have a HUGE V8 or V10 in it and no way a 1.6 Honda would pass me. .

I'll give you the design, some do look like crap, but every car company has a few crap designs.

Gas mileage? Sports cars are built for performance not for gas mileage. But I could name a ton of good mileage cars that come from America.

Reving? I'll give you that to since I can't think of any high reving cars in America

Hey BlazinXtreme... I just want u to know im not going out to start stuff with anyone.. just voicing my opinion. Now Im not sayin I hate all American cars cuz that would be ignorant. The viper is pretty sweet, the Blazers in your Avatar look hot too... And honestly, even though the mustang is a gas guzzeler.. I would gladly accept one if it was given to me.. but im more of a German or Japanese person.. At the end of the day what counts is we all have a common passion... and that is an unconditional love for cars

I hate lamboginis because they look like boxes....thats all i have to say on the subject. oh i also disliked any cars from italy from 1970 to 2000. no offense to them but they looked like boxes. very deformed boxes but yea. oh and everything look like it was 100 degrees and i hate lots of heat.

and i hate what GM did with the new GTO, i think they were hoping that no one would notice that its a holden, they really disapointed me cuz the old GTO was a great car and it started the whole muscle car thing.

Pontiac GTO, introduced to the world 1963 as a 1964 model.
Plymouth Fury, Max Wedge 413, introduced to the world 1961,
Chevy Impala (409) introduced to world 1962.
Both a bit bigger than the "Goat", but indisputably "muscle".:D

Toyotas are 👎, and I'd never own one.

The only Hondas I'd own are CRX's (Which is what I'm looking to buy right now), S2000's, and NSX's. All the other cars from Honda are ugly.

Go right ahead :D

Ghost C: Toyota Supra MkIV? That's a pretty good one. In general though they are a weak brand and not a lot in the current line-up inspires me to buy one. I wouldn't mind the Yaris RS, and I wouldn't mind the Celica (192hp one though), but I wouldn't go saving up for one either.

I had to think really really hard to come up with a single barand of car I'd hate...

...couldn't find anny.

Not even Lada. Certainly not after the Lotus Lada episode of Top Gear.

I think every car has it's place, and differents in marketing/manufactoring are there to fullfill teh wishes of car drivers in their own Demography.

American cars have no need to be fuel economic becuase the fuel prices are 3-4 times less then in Europe. They also don't need sporty suspension since most roads in America are straight as they aren't outlined on roads dating back to the middle ages.

There are of course always exceptions.

i personaly think each car has it's own charm, and we may not like a Nissan Micra for various reasons, but that car was build with a specific reason in mind, to provide reliable cheap transport from A to B.

Not everyone buying a car does so for the same reasons, we can't all be pertolheads. ;)

America does have a reason to be economical with fuel... 2.35-2.79 a gallon isn't cheap. Wait till you see us this summer, prices are predicted to be 3.00-4.00. But I guess Europe has it pretty bad too.

Also I'm guessing you've never been to the US, or at least driven out west. You want to see some bad roads go out west, were talking twisty down hill runs. Also in the northeast its the same way. But once again Europes got it worse.

The only place I can think of straight roads in through the plain states.

It still hasn't climbed above $1.60 anywhere I've been, and I get gas more often than all of you combined.

You do realize the GTO is a Holden brought to America. And the only reason they did that was because GM was strapped for time. There will be a redesign soon from what I've read

It's not as if there was pressure to release a new GTO. Redesign 2008, as it should be. The GTO is the best new 2004 model, and I include the new F150 and Quest in that.

Im a car person, i love CARS.

There are fast cars, and not so fast cars.
There are gorgeous cars, and not so gorgeous.
There are nice cars, and not so nice.
There are practical economical cars, and there are not so etc..

Just pick what you like, and as long as you arent under the impression that your slow car is a fast one, or you ugly POS is gorgeous, you'll be fine by me...

I'm only biased against mercedes, because i think they are too overrated.

M5 this was taken at the gas station next to my house. This is the cheapest place around.

I actually meant '$1.80' in my post, but still, you said $2.35-$2.79, and it's nowhere near that anywhere in the US but in a very select few markets.

Ferrari's.
I'd take a TVR or Lotus or Vette or Nissan etc etc. over one any day.
They just spell out jet setters with little willies and who have no freinds to me. but that's just IMO.

oh yea i also hate american cars...well all expect the ones that deserve recognition like the ones john lingenfelter had somthing to do with or um maybe the GT or maybe just maybe the sledge hammer vette

That depends on your definition of "good".

Average, in my book, is 30mpg (Imp). Good is 40mpg (Imp). Very good is 50mpg (Imp). Let's convert! :D

30mpg (Imp) = 25.0 mpg (US) = 10.6 km/l = 9.4 l/100km
40mpg (Imp) = 33.3 mpg (US) = 14.2 km/l = 7.0 l/100km
50mpg (Imp) = 41.6 mpg (US) = 17.7 km/l = 5.6 l/100km

1 Imperial gallon = 4.546 litres
1 US gallon = 3.785 litres
1 Imperial gallon = 1.201 US gallons

But your book goes by British gas prices, which I'm assuming to be $5. Proportionally, 13.6mpg is 'good' here, and practically every vehicle gets that.

The only name brand i can think of that are horrible is all DSM's (Mitsubishi and Eagle). My brother has a Eagle Talon and the engine gave out only 10 days after he bought it! Bogus huh?

Don't forget Plymouth. I have always loved that slogan:

"DSM's, turning normal people into mechanics since 1989."

It's roughly $4/US gallon.

But how much you pay doesn't affect the range of the vehicle, nor the amount of pollutants chucked out. So while 13.6mpg (US) is "good" on your pocket, a 16.0mpg (Imp) car would be on the receiving end of hate mail for causing global warming.

Which it doesn't - but who are we to let facts get in the way of a good Luddite revolution? :D

And isn't UK petrol a higher Octane (RON) rating than US gas?

I don't like Mitsubishi and VW. They were arsenals during WWII and they still carry the same signs. Just hate that bloody inheritance. They grew big making weapons.

Yes, they have a "bloody inheritance". However, most of it was in German and Japanese blood.
With the notable exception of the Me-109, Most of the airplanes made by the Germans and Japanese were utter crap.
The Zero was only good because of it's tight turning circle.
However, it was also pretty slow. It was still outclassed by the Corsair, and the Mustang.

I'm less than fond of VW's (as I've owned one), and Mitsubishis. I have friends who have had poor luck with them. Life-threatening, poor luck problems.
By the same token, I also have little love for Mopar products. I have personally had poor luck with them.
Though, If I can get a good price on a PT Cruiser, or a one of those really Hot little Neons, I might buy one. (Of course, I'm only gonna drive it 3 years or 50,000 miles before I trade it for something else. )
I'm also disinclined to buy another Pontiac. I've had two. One grew to be reliable, after much sorting out. The other was reliable until the first serious breakdown. Then, It was like trying to catch water with a net. I finally got a cell phone after it went completely "tits up" the day after my 37th birthday.
It prompted the purchase of the 'Scort.:D.
Now, the 'Scort has given me no major fits, but it currently needs about $500 worth of work, before I'd feel comfortable driving it.
(brakes all the way 'round, two tires, and some exhaust work, and perhaps a scheduled maint. replacement of the timing belt).
But the little beast has nearly 200,000 miles on the odometer. And I hope to get at least another 50-100K more.
