ARL Gr4 Americas Cup Wednesday Nights Starts Jan. 22 2020
Welcome to the ARL Gr4 Series page! We are now starting our 7th season. What started as a developmental league for the Gr3 series has grown to become its very own series.
This season will see a huge overhaul to the way the series has been run in the past. The biggest change is the qualifying and race format.
Our other big change is that we have now switched from a 6 week season to an 8 week season.
Whether you are an experienced driver or new, there is competitive racing for every skill level. So please look over the race info below and feel free to join us on Wednesday nights.
Lobbies will open at 9:30pm EST and racing will begin at 9:45pm EST
Heat lobbies open at 9:30pm EST
Open practice until first heat start
First 10 minute heat starts at 9:45 EST
Second 10 minute heat to follow immediately after results are recorded
Top 6 drivers from each heat lobby move to the feature lobby
Remaining drivers head to the Best of the Rest lobby
10 minute Best of the Rest race starts as soon as grid is set
Open qualifying for the feature race to run during the Best of the Rest race
Top 4 drivers of BotR race will move on to the feature
20 minute feature race to start at approximately 10:30 EST but no later than 10:45 EST

There will be two 10 minute "heat" races and a 10 minute "Best of the Rest" to determine the starting grid for the main race.
All confirmed drivers for the race week will be given a random number approximately 1 hour prior to the lobbies opening. This number will determine which qualifying lobby you are assigned to.
All odd numbers (1,3,5,etc.) will head to Lobby A.
All even numbers (2,4,6,etc.) will head to Lobby B.
Once in your lobby your number will determine your starting position for the first qualifying race. For example; numbers 1,3,&5 would start 1,2,&3. The second qualifying race will be a reverse grid of the first race's results.
Once the 2 qualifying races are completed we will average your finish position. The top 6 finishers from each lobby will move on to the feature race.
The remaining drivers will then compete in a short "Best of the Rest" race. Grid order will be determined by the driver's average finishing position for the first 2 heat races. The top 4 finishers from this race will then move on to the feature race and make up the final 4 positions on the grid.
While the "Best of the Rest" race is running the "Feature Race" lobby will have a short open qualifying session for the top 12 drivers.
Positions 13-16 will be placed on the grid according to their finishing order in the "Best of the Rest" race.
In the event that a driver misses the first heat race but shows up for the second heat race, they will be given a last place finish for the first heat race.
***It has been brought to my attention that this format can only accommodate 28 drivers. Below is some additions to the qualifying procedure in case we exceed that number***
In the event more than 28 drivers show up for race night the top 6 from each heat lobby will still move on to the final as normal
The remaining drivers in the lobby (if over 8 drivers remain) will then compete in a 5min shootout. With the grid determined by their average finish from the heat races.
The top 8 drivers from the shootout race will then move on to the BotR race. The drivers who do not make the cut will be given 1 point towards the BotR championship.
There will be 2 points championships. The ARL Americas Cup Championship and a Best of the Rest Championship.
The Feature race and BotR race will be scored separately but use the same 16 driver point format.
There will be bonus points to earn. The overall winners of each heat lobby will earn 1 bonus point each.
There will also be a bonus point awarded for fastest lap in the feature race.
The winner of the BotR race will receive 1 bonus point for the feature race.

* there is 1 drop week in the 8 week race season, the drop week will subtract your lowest scoring night to hopefully close the points gap for the winner
The penalty system for the GR.4 league is a little more relaxed than the Gr.3 series mainly because this is more of a learning league. If you feel like you need to file a IR on a driver please fill out the google sheet @Herimopp89 has made, He is our Chief Steward and will review all IR along with the other BoD members.
MINOR ACCIDENT: causing minor damage to another drivers car, unsafe re-entry, cutting corners to gain an advantage
MEDIUM ACCIDENT: dive bomb, making a pass using out of bounds, not adhering to flag rules, blocking/weaving
SEVERE ACCIDENT: causing major damage to another drivers car, not conceding spot if you have ran another driver off track/ bumped them going into a corner intentionally hitting another driver, retaliation, dive bomb with no intention of using the brakes
GROUNDS FOR BEING KICKED OUT OF THE LEAGUE: intentionally trying to wreck other drivers, driving wrong way on the track, pretty much being a jacka$$ I don’t see many of us having a problem with this major point deduction because overall this is a clean group of drivers but you never know when you might have to use this penalty
DISCONNECT
With the recent update on GT Sport there have been many instances a driver getting stuck on the grid (including myself). Hopefully this will not be a problem going forward but until GT Sport fixes this problem we will need to adapt a rule for being stuck or disconnecting.
The rule we are putting in place for the time being is that if a driver gets stuck on the grid we will move the driver to the rear of the grid and restart.
If problem persist we will ask the driver to please exit the race and issue last place points to the driver/drivers for that race.
It really sucks being stuck on the grid and I want everyone to race each week but at the same time we can’t restart more than once for the same driver it’s not fair to the others.
CONFIRMATION
With the new qualifying format it is crucial that all drivers state their intentions to race every week.
Confirmation will open for the weeks race on monday mornings and end wednesday evening around 8 pm EST.
I’m kinda surprised (not that Pd or Kaz ever make sense to me) Gt sport doesn’t have a gr4 Camaro. I’ve seen plenty of real life Camaro race cars that would comfortably fit in gr4 spec.
