As of v1.32, what's the most affordable car that can clear Nostalgic 1979?

So for those who haven't been keeping track, here's the current listing of eligible cars for this event, and further sorted by credits cost:

20,000,000
Ferrari 330P4
Ferrari 250 GTO
Jaguar XJ13
Ford GT40 Mk.IV Race Car
15,000,000
Shelby Daytona Coupe
10,000,000
Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2
Aston Martin DB3S
Is it really possible to win this event with one of the three cars that don't cost 20 million? Better yet, is it possible to do it with one of the two cars that only cost 10 million? I think I heard that it's possible with the Daytona Coupe, but what about the TZ2 and the DB3S?

with the DB3S fully maxed out I've won the event with 330s starting 2nd and almost won with one on pole (but that was more because of me messing up. You pretty much have to be perfect if one starts on pole). You can hit 220mph on the Mulsanne and you'll blow by everyone but you gotta be kinda careful on the brakes afterwards. Also the P4s and company are much better in the corners than you, but it's straight line speed makes up for it. As long as you don't make any major mistakes you'll win. It's not as fast completing the event as the 330 would be, but half the price isn't a bad trade off.

But tune it to N200 and it can win the premium lounge races at Dragon Trail and Maggiore. (Haven't tried it at the other races.)

Good to know. The lowest I've won with is N-300 so I'm definitely trying this out.
I also like racing every event in the premium lounge since the payout is the same as Blue Moon.

All I did was to tune the power to N200, minimum weight, race softs on the back and race hards on the front. The Mazda RX500 and the Fugu Z can win at N200 too.

Technically, if all you want is to win, then even the Giulia can win easily if you cut Dunlop/Tetre Rouge/Ford Chicanes.

If you want to race clean, the only one that can't is the Giulia. Just bought the DB3S and at full tune it can win rather comfortably.

I found the Daytona to be simple on the tracks that arent Le Mans (Monza and St. Croix?)

Max power, max weight loss and the 5 spd box. Easy.

Le Mans... I think the car isnt fast enough on the straights, even dropped on its belly and low downforce.

You need to roll a good field or cut.

The DB3S might be cool if you get it in a daily. Otherwise 10 mil. can be used elsewhere to better effect.

The Alpine A110 and Porsche 356A can also win Dragon Trail Premium at N200. The Porsche is an absolute hoot, but needs a bit of suspension work.

How about the tracks that arent Le Mans, can those races be won in a DB3S?

I haven't tried the other tracks with it but I'm going to say it will probably be very difficult. The DB3S has a very fast top speed but doesn't handle very well at all so anything more technical than LeMans is going to be a struggle. Again that's just my opinion.

I just purchased the Aston Martin DB3S '53 and installed all the upgrades and found that it can win at all three tracks in the Nostalgic 1979 race series.

The hardest track is the Sainte-Croix track, so I cycled the starts until the Ferrari 330 P4 wasn't in any of the first three grid spots, which gave me a chance to catch the fastest Ferrari 330 P4 before it pulls away and builds up a lead. @Rinsky , @MIE1992

The Aston Martin DB3S is a beast in a straight-line, so you just have to hold on for dear life in the corners!

I'm only an average driver at best, and haven't yet managed to win the Circuit de le Sarthe race with the Cobra Daytona, so I was very sceptical about the idea of me being able to win the race with anything other than one of the 20million cars. However, I decided to splash out and treat myself to the DB3S and to hell with the consequences. The Aston Martin can be a bit twitchy at times, and I wonder if its1953 brakes are just slightly less effective than those on the more expensive 60s trio, but maxed out the car really is a rocket. It can hit 220mph on the Mulsanne straight without any need to slipstream and, provided you do hit the brakes just that little bit earlier than when driving one of the 20m cars, even mugs like me can win the race!

TZ2 is the only eligible that can't clear Le Mans once you max it out.

The series is a rort when half the AI grid is filled with cars that PD think are just too cheap to be eligible for the player to use.
