Ubisoft can go F themselves with the Assassin's Creed Franchise it's over this should be a case study on why you don't overdo it on franchises period.

Unless it's a racing game/sports game etc. Even then you can overdo it.

Too soon for a new AC, they should let the series get a little bit out the spotlight so it can get more attention, there are a lot of steam punk setting games lately (like The Order 1886) so this might fall into obscurity.

I was interested in Unity until the reviews, then it kind of lost al my interest, this is out of my interest from the get go and I quite like Assassins Creed games.

I'll pass, JC3 and Mad Max will be out or close by the time this does, and they look already more interesting.

Oh, and pre order bonuses + potential DLC, that puts the cherry on the cake.

Unity did prove the danger of review embargoes being used as a weapon to protect the sales of bad games, fair enough, but I don't think that, from a overall standpoint, one bad game shouldn't ruin the franchise.

I agree. As long as they go back to Assassin's (I never played Unity and Black Flag was just a pirate game) all will be well.

That looks really generic and boring, this franchise needs a major refresh to die. They did learn some stuff from Unity though so kudos to them.

Why aren't you calling out Call of Duty? They committed the crime first. The FPS market is so over saturated with COD that it reached the point where they don't rededicate their servers to retire the online for games that are running on ten years old.

I never bought Unity, should I not buy it at all?

I love AC but like you guys say it gets way over done. I loved the first 3 games as they were so different to what I had tried before but now its just overkill. Id rather them spend more time on a game longer between releases rather than just rehashing it all the time.

I think I will buy this one though as the British scene sounds great.

They have said that they won't neglect the seventh-generation consoles, so I'm curious to see where they go with that.

Oh I already know about COD trust me and even Battlefield, but just because someone jumps off the bridge doesn't mean you should as well.

Looks like a good game but it carries the same problem as most AC games except AC4, all the cities look VERY similar, the series needs to go to asia or egypt.

Japan would look beautiful with the Unity engine, Egypt would look amazing aswell.

Re-using old assets and editing them is a lazy move.

I like the game. I don't need to be told why to hate it :p
You are twisting words here. You asked why there are so many negative comments over unity, and I told you why through someone who can actually explain it better than I could (TotalBiscuit). It is not my fault that Unity ended up to be a buggy mess upon release, something that developers are still patching as we speak with video evidence.

I held off buying the game because of the 12 hour post-release review embargo. The last time that I pre-ordered a game was NHL 15, which I bought digitally. It was the biggest mistake of my life.

To be blunt, you asked, I answered. No need to be hurt over the fact I actually had video evidence to support my claim.

I was being playful :)

I can't really see either working. Feudal Japan and ancient Egypt are fan favourites for future titles, but I honestly think that India, East Africa and/or the Dutch East Indies - Indonesia - would be better.

Absolute turd of a game! Barely worked for weeks and the UI was by far the most counter-intuitive I've ever used.

Assassins Creed Syndicates looks considerably worse than Unity. So there's that.

I have to give myself some credit. I preordered the game 30 minutes before release.

1080/30 is the maximum I think.
Their engine is only maxed out at 900p/30fps, and even at that it is not cutting it. TotalBiscuit got pissed at Unity not doing 1080p/60fps, but the truth is that Ubisoft intentionally developed that engine to under-perform across the board to discourage parity. There are a few articles floating around that prove that.

How can their engine be maxed out at 900/30? doesn't the PC version run higher? plus there will always be optimisation, first time I've heard of a maxed out engine.

Syndicate is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec, who did a lot of work on the likes of Brotherhood, Revelations and Freedom Cry and Dead Kings. Although these tend to be shorter games, they do have a tendency to experiment with new features a bit more. And they generally build on the related title, overcoming issues of previous titles.

Given the issues with Unity, I think Syndicate needs to be a full-length title in its own right.

@prisonermonkeys The setting seems decent enough and the era is certainly one of the most exciting, but the gameplay is just really lackluster, the combat in particular. But they seem to be focusing on the single player aspect heavily but the Protagonist isn't inspiring me so far (the male) the sister (aspect)atleast looks interesting.
