The prettiest whale around but were they not even allowed to use the real Martini colors? I get that the logo and name may be prohibited, but that one looks black and white where it should be light blue and dark blue. Hopefully it's there in another livery.

The beauty of having AC on PC. I'll give it a week and we'll have a real replice of the Martini livery :dopey:

Sorry if this has been asked already but how did AC manage to get Porsche in the game? Is it because the license rights with EA has expired?

AFAIK they haven't. It's just because it's a very solid game and Porsche (apparently) noticed and wanted to work together with Kunos Simulationi.

And the license expired ;)
Other games will have Porsche too soon.

There's no official statement about it as far as i can recall, but i read a bunch of times on the forums that it expired this year.
You sorta just got to put 2 and 2 together because once you think about it wouldnt another company have hyped Porsche to oblivion, think about SMS, Polyphony and Turn 10 even Codies. Porsche could do a lot to each of those brands so if it was something that they had secured we would 100% hear about as soon as possible. Marco said that this was outside of the deal with EA, i do hope that the exclusive license ends as it is just silly but for now there simply isnt enough information to say that Porsche is a free agent for all the companies that want to get a license from them.

Whether the EA license has expired or not is not related to any current other NDA's that may be in place. That you're not hearing anything doesn't mean there's nothing coming. :)

I think it's fair to say that Porsche is not likely to come as DLC to any other existing race games than Forza Horizon 3 and Assetto Corsa.

The future might bring Porsche to other race games, and to other sims. But no point in hyping that until those sims are released, now is there?

Not sure if this figures into it but I recently learned that Martini has actually trademarked the stripe motif used in their liveries.

In that case, this shouldn't stop them from licensing the colors and stripes unless Kunos didn't bother. It's also possible that Martini didn't agree to share the design without its logo.

Just look at the Martini Williams F1 in F1 2016 to get your answer. Or why in Forza some of the older Cars don't have their popular tobacco liveries but others. I think video games are a medium where it isn't aloud to promote tobacco or alcohol, or where it isn't done cause in many regions it's not aloud.

I don't own F1 2016 and it's easier said than done to find a plain image of the car included in the game. Does it also use different Martini colors / stripes or does it simply not wear the logo? If I'm not mistaken, the McLaren MP4/4 in Forza Motorsport 6 came with an accurate Marlboro livery which only lacked the tobacco logo. I'm aware that FM6 went with alternative liveries for other cars to circumvent this barrier, but what does it really answer in relation to the colors chosen for the Porsche 935 coming to AC? I already implied that it makes sense that we're not going to see an official Martini livery in AC.

PC gaming comes with more freedom. However, it's ultimately the developer's "fault" when console players are faced with limitations such as default liveries. For example, when FM6 on Xbox One received machinery like the Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo and Jaguar XJR-9, it didn't take long before some talented painters had created and shared near perfect replicas of the respective Martini Racing and Silk Cut liveries associated with these cars. It's almost comparable to buying a scale model and some logos are included as stickers which you can choose to put on the car.

SMS teased that something will be happening in pCARS, too. I would be surprised if we dont see any Porsche in pCARS 2.

The funny thing with this license mumbo-jumbo is that people are speculating a lot, but the devs and publishers usualy dont talk about it at all. Dan Greenawalt had something to say about the whole EA deal when Porsche DLC hit Forza 4, but no word at all from him or his company about the deal for FH2 and Forza 6. Porsche isnt present in FH3 and the devs dont talk about it. VW is missing, too. We dont know why. Ruf has vanished. We dont know why. We can still pretend that we do but we simply dont know.

My theory: the Porsche/EA deal is still intact, thats why there is no Porsche in FH3 so far. But that deal will expire this year. When this has happened, will will most likely see Porsche in FH3, as part of an pCARS 2 reveal, in Forza 7 and MAYBE, just MAYBE, even in GT Sports (for the love of god!)

Unless of course, Porsche is doing another exclusivity deal again with someone (propably microsoft)

The story with Kunos is indeed different. Many people claim that Porsche aproached Kunos for being featured in AC, but i doubt that. Porsche approached Kunos because they wanted Kunos to develop the new Porsche simulator. Thats what they did. My theory is that Kunos asked Porsche for their brand being featured in AC, too. And it seems Porsche approved that within their deal and partnership.

And there's gonna be more Porsche DLC in the future? Guess Porsche really liked how AC stacked up in terms of simulation.

I thought SMS moved all development to pCARS 2?

Kunos were the first to take advantage of the Porsche license being freed up, good for them and understandably they were able to hype it 100%. But as @NLxAROSA says it's not because other devs haven't jumped on the promotional bandwagon yet (as they are still busy with licensing their next games and NDA's), that they are excluded from it.

I believe the EA deal is still intact until the end of this year but Porsche worked out a separate deal with Kunos. Turn 10 "leased" the Porsche rights from EA, not directly with Porsche, which could explain why they're not in the new Forza games because they know the deal is about to lapse.

Not that I'll lose sleep over it, but could Kunos' deal be exclusive but on a temporary basis, which would be why they'd be releasing so many cars in such a short time?

Or maybe, they just don't care and are about to release the cars like that because they can and we're just over thinking it, and we'll find out at some point if their deal is exclusive or not. I always prefer the theories where we shouldn't over think it. :)

Of what have been said, besides these 24 cars, there may be a few more.

This is a one of a kind deal outside EA. As someone posted a few days ago, Porsche noticed AC/AC Pro's huge potential and decided to exploit that.

Marco confirms it at 1:32:30 in this video:

If anything, I think the lineup revealed so far suggests that Porsche gave this partnership some strategic consideration. It doesn't have that typical "approved by the licensing department" vibe to it. Cars like the new 718 siblings, 991.2 Carrera S, Cayenne, Macan and Panamera indicate that Porsche wanted to showcase their current lineup in a simulated environment. I'm not saying that Kunos would never request some of these particular models, but I'd say they weren't to be expected like some of the more track-oriented evolutions, classics, and race cars were. Even the semi-confirmed 911 GT3 Cup is something I can imagine is arriving on Porsche's request.

Kunos' statement that they're the only simulator with Porsche in 2016 is still valid. None of the potential other titles/expansions will be released in 2016 (not sure if FH3 was even confirmed having Porsche as DLC?).

AC is the most advanced simulation featuring Porsche in 2016. FM6 simulates things too and it has Porsche.

But that was a 2015 release of Porsche expansion. We're talking about 2016 Porsche activities here.

This is one area where the size and budget of the dev team matters. Unless you have the kind of 1st party budget of T10 putting in a livery editor takes considerable resources away from other tasks.

I mean, look at pCARS: Clearly that game would also have benefited from a livery editor, and you can be sure it was discussed on WMD, but at the end of the day priorities had to be set and the livery editor is a relatively large cost for potentially a relatively small "sales" benefit.

Heck. There will probably be 3 different ones within a week.

From Marco:

There's a funny story behind these pictures, that tells a lot about how Porsche cares about our partnership. As you can see taking a look to my profile, sometime I had the chance to shoot the most beautiful and iconic cars we have in Assetto Corsa right in the respective factories, but never in a photographic studio. Before Porsche. Also, usually it never happens that you receive CAD data of a model that has not been unveiled yet, nor that you can take pictures, or even that you can have the chance just to see a new car before it is officially unveiled. And no matter what you work for the car manufacturer, unless you are directly involved in the development of THAT model.
Well, when last Spring we gone to Stuttgart to take the pictures of the Porsche models included in our project (and the project itself was far to be revealed) Porsche granted us the access to their new car - not to a dark, hidden, anonymous garage - but in a beautiful photograpic studio. A huge studio, and right in the middle, the new - and still not unveiled - Panamera G2 was waiting for us. I'm not a professional photographer, but I'm good in shooting the kind of pictures we need to reproduce each car detail. And, even if I take care of other responsabilities in our company, this is a role I still keep for myself, since I love it so much. So, we did our job and then we moved to a different location to take pictures of many other - and more interesting :D - cars. Then we gone back home. Just few days later, some pictures of the Panamera, the same car, shooted in the same studio, have been leaked on internet, before the official presentation. Potentially a bad issue: when we was at the studio, I didn't taken any picture even on my smartphone, just to be sure to do not show any picture accidentally to my friends. So, in our weekly call with Porsche I wanted to make sure that Kunos wasn't behind the leaked pictures, and they said "we didn't thought for a second that was you, anyway don't worry, we know it: the car was pretty similar, but wasn't the same, since the pictures show a different car plate; it was the other one, used for road tests. But thanks".

That's interesting. He also mentions that the P1 GTR and GT86 GT4 are in the works. Audi Sport TT Cup '15, Maserati MC12 GT1, Alfa Stradale Tipo 33, BMW M6 GT3 and Audi R8 LMS '16 too. :)

No, the Porsche Expansion for FM6 was released in March 2016.

Yeah, it's understandable why Kunos doesn't have a livery editor at this point.

But not for us console peasants.
God forbid you come in contact with alcohol or smoking companies, dont worry if you ascend now then you can be peer pressured by Assetto corsa skins to ruin your lungs or liver, remember all the cool liveries are doing it.
(before someone gets angry this is a joke)

I think he means to say that forza 6 didnt have actual cars from 2016 not that its bad.

I wasnt too happy about the car collection in Forza 6s Porsche pack. Its no secret they got a bit lazy and brought up some cars we already knew from previous games instead of bringing more new cars. Its good that Porsche picked their cars - more or less- themself this time around ;-)

I really like the Forza 6 Porsche expansion - 20 cars, Virginia International Raceway, and a Porsche specific campaign with 48 new events. And it didn't hurt to get it all for $5 (normally $19.95) :)

With all the talk about Kunos and the Porsche Simulator, does anyone know if the AC-based simulator is currently used at the Porsche Experience Centers?

On that page, they mention Le Mans, The Nürburgring, Watkins Glen, Laguna Seca and Daytona among other tracks. Laguna Seca has been mentioned, but I wonder if some of the others are potential future releases. Or is this simulator running a different software?
