I saw a Ghost in AC! It made me pause for a bit... Looking at the liveries I found A. Simonson's SLS... He died last year :(

This game is great but it's not ready for release... It's an amazing drive but the little things really add up... They need to fix the fmod version of 5.1, icons missing from liveries, UI can bug in settings on tripple screen and switches to a side screen, won't upload an image for your profile, and a few other polish items I've forgoten because just the driving alone feels so good...

On the more subjective side, career is a bit shallow. I yearn for a meaningful progressive career mode in a racing game...
There is no menu music, this is likely to keep those who use simvide and buttkickers from flying out of their seat when launching menues but it makes things feel a bit desolate in the menues.
Needs a bigger track selection... I'd love more tracks more common in other racing games so you can compare experiences and leverage the countless laps and experience gained.
Tires should lock up so easy at 200kmh, they need to have a threshold that lowers as the speed of the car decelerates... Flat spotting is just to easy, though I can't feel the effects...

All its its an amazing product and I don't think I can go back to a console game...

Aris had this to say about career mode...

"A couple of things about the career, that might interest you.
This is of course a taste of it. Later on we will release much more series and as you move on, most of them will be full blown championships.
The good thing about the career is that we can simulate championships with it. We can also open different seasons at the same time, without the need to force someone to do a boring season if he doesn't wants to do it.

The best thing about the career though is that it is totally moddable. Completely moddable, you can even erase and backup the whole thing and do a completely new career alone, or a championship season, just by editing a couple of text files. Setting your own opponents, cars, tracks, points, seasons...whatever.

We couldn't do a proper career when all the content is already unlocked in Assetto Corsa, but we can tease you gameplay with it and give you championships. Plus you can do your own. We have high hopes it's going to be fantastic for gamers and modders

P.S. about the low number of laps. You'll have to wait until we implement pitstops for the AI, then we can crank the lap count all the way up! ;)"

Alright, I'm just going to try then. So far I only have interest in Lake Louise and the Nordschleife anyways, so not that I really have that much to loose, eh? :)

Hey mate, did you get out on the Nordschleife yet? I actually did the update via Steam and it took a few minutes but overall no ill effects (apart from having to go do all my settings again, and the Corvette DP no longer has engine sound). Ran at Spa first, and wow, even on low detail my machine can't quite handle that circuit without input lag and a bit choppy video (but the track still looks epic, amazing feel of realism). Nordschleife 1.1 works great, and I'm loving the improvements to the FFB, it's much more of a rubber-meets-road feeling and a lot more of a gradual reaction according to gradual inputs. Tiny mistakes don't throw you off the track or into sudden spins, basically... and the feel for weight transfer is a lot more lifelike.

The Formula Abarth is really fun now and somehow traces the lines better. The Corvette DP, I'll have to see if I can get the sound working again first...

None of the mod car sounds are working at the moment due to the switch to FMOD. And unfortunately we have to wait for Kunos to release some tools to make it work. How long that will take, I don't know. Hopefully soon.

Also, Abandon All Hope is pretty much the best song of all time. :)

Wow, haha didn't expect to hear that. Thank you :)

Yep, did a couple of runs with the Giulietta, E30, Lotus Exige V6 and SLS GT3 and it works flawlessly.
I have a feeling that they've reworked the grip model of the Semislicks. Much closer to reality now, at least it feels like it. I always found that the Semislicks did not have a whole lot more grip that the standard street tyres and no they're gripping a lot better, I actually improved my E30 in the first run by 3 seconds.
The Force Feedback is as good as it was before, didn't really had all that much to complain in the first place :)

if I run Post-Process and everything on max I get 40FPS :\.... When I turn off P-P and turn down Reflections/Mirrors I get 60-70 :I

Before update I was able to run everything on max and Post Process. at 60FPS

Note that now there are a couple of new graphic options. Mainly, as reported by someone else before, the new Reflection Rendering Frequency (RRF) make FPSes drop a lot while turned from static to low, while just light difference from low to higher settings.

Tried a race for first time against alien AI IIRC with the 458 around Silverstone with this new update and they seem very slow on first lap or two but then speed up. By then have massive lead so even if you go around slowly, it is a comfortable win.

@fatkrakr Hey man, did you get a chance to try AC with Simvibe? All I've gotten so far is that it's working with AC, but I'm not sure if more effects have been added or existing ones have been improved. You need to be using Simvibe 4 Beta from what I've gathered.

Have any of you gotten AC to work with 5.1 surround setups? FMOD was supposed to bring 5.1 to the table but my game is still in stereo. My audio config in Windows is correct.

Unfortunately the game still crashes when minimized which is a major inconvenience. :(

EDIT: No 5.1 sound is a bug, workaround here:

http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/rc-1-no-5-1-workaround-inside.15806/

Haven't tried it yet, will report back.

EDIT the second: Surround sound is fixed with that workaround!
I will have to change my original reply to that. I have just added road textures and they seem to be working, and must say it feels really nice with it added. I haven't tried any other effects yet.
There was a small update for AC a little while ago as well, so not sure if that had any effect. This is using SV 4.

So far so good for me! Glitches here and there though, the driver animations on the F40 S3 are still bugged. As others have reported there are some UI glitches around, most notable is the colour selections missing previews or not working. I'll make a full review on saturday for this after testing everything!

Figured this would be the best place to ask... I saw that Steam had the game at half price earlier this year, anyone know if they will hold another sale? If I don't buy it in Early Access, will the price go up to $60?

100% sure they will, when? IDK.

Yes, the reduced price is for early access, once the game is released it will be full price.
Thanks. I saw something about Version 1 being released which usually signals the game will be full priced fairly soon.

I might as well kiss goodbye to my social life, girlfriend etc right now. See you in a couple of years...

Had my first qualifying session and online race this year. Managed to get pole and win although everyone seemed to drop out by lap 3 out of 7 lap race around Spa which by then I had something like 27 second margin so wasn't surprising.

Mine is also fine, I am using the latest version (1.1?)

Mine is fine too, using latest (1.1 I think). Although even before the update, I would occasionally experience the Nordschleife glitching out completely - in that suddenly I have no control and the throttle is stuck wide open so the car just pinballs all over the place for 30-60 seconds before I can get it to snap out of it. (I'm usually madly mashing the keyboard to get it to wake up.) Last time it did it for about 2 minutes and I was tempted to Ctrl-alt-del when it finally released control back to me. Very weird. Hasn't done it yet with the AC 1.0.0 RC but I didn't play that long last night. Just about to now so... let's hope that's a thing of the past.

I was damn hyped about the career mode but was not able to try it yet. But from what I read here, it also delivers 5-10 lap races then? :scared:

Well then Pcars must be the game I have to wait for.

Well, unfortunately its already happening here :ouch: starting to stay at home and racing instead of going out with friends. Well, winter is cold outside anyway

But good lord, how awesome is the 458 GT2 @spa? Really an mindblowing experience it was. The game is getting better and better.

Disappointed with the sounds :( some cars sound like they are inside a bottle... i've tried with 5.1 and headphones (sennheiser pc350), still have to wait, hope they fix it. When i was using 5.1 surround system, before the race start, when we see the car, all my house shake, but after that, when the car it's in grid the sound it's low again. :S My wife almost kill me... :)
Also the DPad on the T500 should work, its just a simple thing.
I have an old pc GTX 570, Xeon 3520 and 6gb of ram, i disable post processing efects, and put the aa at 4x, its better for me and its smooth at 1920x1080.
I've installed the game again, and i like the FF out of the box with the T500, maybe i will do just a little tweak, but not much.
I really like this game, but how much will they charge after RC1?
I think this game needs more content until they make a full release, 35$ for early access its ok, but more for this content i think its too much.

The only cars with reworked/new sounds are the Ferrari 458 GT2, Cobra, and the Z4 GT3, all the others will be completed before the game is released according to the devs.

IMO even $60 is a bargain for AC, for $60 you can buy 4 or 5 cars and 1 track in iRacing, not counting the monthly subscription, and rFactor 2 cost like $80 if you don't want to pay online subscription if i'm not mistaken.

I liked the Z4 sound, but the 458 GT2 it's a bit weird, i don't know how to explain, but it's to low, sound like the car it's miles away. I will look to my sound card settings, maybe i could do something.
I know iracing its expensive, i've tried it for a couple of months, but PCars its 37€ and have much more content, i recommend Asseto Corsa even if it stays like that in the release, and costs 60$, but i think for this kind of content the price should stay the same, just my opinion. ;)

Edit: before the rc, the sound of the 458 s3 feel much more alive then the GT2

Carear is limited to 10 laps until pit stops are integrated into single player. AI can't handle them yet. And tires only last so long.

The 5.1 sound is bugged and is rendered as mono. Check this for a quick workaround that involves editing some ini files. They are working on it, of course. After applying the fix I noticed quite a difference.
