FIA Class 1 touring car that Alfa Corse raced from 1993 to 1996 in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft

Well yes. :D

Yeah the newer Merc C-class and the Calibra raced vs the Alfa, that you can see after 2min mark in the vid.

Dream pack within the next month or so too.. Very excited for that.

I've always wanted to learn the ring, but never felt comfortable in any other game to drive lap after lap and learn it. Assetto Corsa is that game, thanks to AC I've learned Spa properly and I love it, same with Silverstone. For some reason I just couldn't get in to them in GT6.

My question got lost in the discussions in the other thread so I’ll ask again here. Is the 5.1 surround finally fixed? Last time I tried it (3rd of January according to Steam), it was still not working properly. Engine sounds came from front speakers on a mid/rear engine cars. It is beyond me how they call it a final version and still have holes like this in it. So is it fixed?

No offence, but can't you just try it again?

Well will have that opportunity in about a week. Was just wondering should I get my hopes up till then, or is it back to waiting for the final-final version again.

I only have speakers in front of me (four of them) as I don't have a system on my rig capable of doing surround sound yet. Somehow, I'm still able to play fine. Weird, I know!

OK I get it. I’m not going to get an answer here. Obviously people are not using 5.1 setups and/or prefer to just troll around.

Yes I can switch my setup to stereo, but that isn’t the point. I haven’t put five speakers around my head to use only two of them. Since it has been a standard for a long time now I just expect from a racing “simulator” to properly simulate directional sound. Am I asking for too much? I can’t imagine that it is too hard to move the engine sound front to back depending on the car. For something that is called a simulator, and final version of it at the same time, I would assume that sound simulation for better immersion will be taken care of.

Anyway .. don’t mind me my stupid questions regarding better immersion in racing sims on a forum based around a racing sim ..

I use a 5.1 system.. as my main speaker setup. Except I don't use Rears. since... no where to put them. lol.

Despite being labeled as "final version" it clearly is not a complete sim, in many departments, including the sound. This will improve somewhat when v1.1 drops, but it still has a lot of underlying issues that prevent it from being as good as it could be. I personally think the sound in AC kinda sucks on all cars, but that doesn't keep me from playing it or cause me to make angry posts on a forum. I'm certainly not threatening to take my toys and go home over it.

Just remember this, they have ONE guy who is responsible for creating all the tracks in AC. So I imagine they have maybe 1/4 of a guy responsible for sounds and it may take some time for that partial dude to get everything up to speed. This is the nature of AC, accept it or move on to iRacing (which, according to those who play it, is absolutely perfect, greatest sim ever).

I've updated, and this is what I've found:

- I didn't receive the message in the post I linked to above, and the poster has removed his comment

Hmm.

Well I was working on/testing a mod, backed out to do some more adjustments and unpack some other mods I downloaded last week and the game auto updated.

The unadjustable resolution setting bug has gone now, so has the stuttering problem I had because the game would only cap to 58.8 or 62.5fps. Funny thing is, in the frame rate cap settings, I can only choose 58.8 or 62.5fps but on the actual track, it's a perfect 60 and finally everything is silky smooth again.

Just tried heavy fog at Silverstone and indeed it is heavy lol, especially in replays. I often set my own weather by adjusting the .ini file to my preference but it's nice to have some preset options now. Also spotted a HDR adjustable settings app at the top of the in game app list which I haven't seen before, I have no idea if that's new though.

It's a shame that modded cars are broken again hopefully that will be fixed soon, but of the quick hotlapping session I did in the Step 3 tuned F40 was great, with the replay looking at sounding amazing (1440p, max settings, 4xAA), I honestly think if someone walked by my TV during a replay they'd do a double take and ask if it was real.

Can't wait for more updates. Going to try a full AI grid soon to see the AI improvements, that was one of things that needed work the most. Hoping the modded cars work again soon though as I was going to finish my fun little project today :(

Well thats good, AI are still poop :\ they need to fix the whole system.. They have no knowledge of human players.

Ive had 3 updates for AC today, cant remember the size of the first one; but the second was around 500mb and the third which only just downloaded was 715mb.
