From reading around it sounds like there are R8's from years besidrs 2001. Just wondrring what years these cars are from and which of these is the best and what the cost?

There's an '01 that you'll see in red and yellow and then there's an '05 that's mostly blue and yes, most forum posters favor the '01.

The Audi R8 '01 is in red/silver or yellow/silver (factory team) and the '04 R8 is the blue and white Team Oreca version. The '01 R8 is the original which blew everyone away and still would as it wasn't very heavily restricted whilst the '04 version was slowed down to even out the competition.

I don't have the '01 works car so i can't compare stats. This car has done 1244 km and has had an oil change.

The '05 model ran smaller diameter air restrictors and had additional ballast compared to the '01 model.
Official numbers are 610 horsepower for the '01 and 520 horsepower for the '05.

Only 01 and 04 iirc. The 01 R8 is an absolute rocket and the faster of the two.

There is no '04 R8 it is the Audi R8 Race Car (Audio Playstation Team Oreca) ´05 car that you win in the 24hr Le-man endurance.

An R8 Race Car '01 popped up in my UCD a few days ago :D It was the yellow/silver version. After oil changing it and taking it a quick lap on Sarthe, I realized it felt the same as the R10 TDI, but a bit faster IIRC :grumpy: But that doesn't stop me to collecting its variants :dopey:

Thanks guys, just bought a W12 Nardo, not tried it out yet though, gotta get saving for the R8 now.

There are three types of R8 (four or five if you count on the variations):
-R8 (LMP1) which is the Le Mans Prototype and the predecessor to the R10, R15 and the R18
-R8 LMS which is the GT race car designed for the Le Mans series and based on the production/road R8. Another variation on this GT-class R8 is the R8 GT3 for the FIA GT3 Championship
-R8 4.2 FSI (V8) and the R8 5.2 FSI (V10) which are both road/production car.

So probably the best way to designate these different R8 is to use the LMP1, the LMS/GT3 or the V8/V10. Although feel free to add if there's actually more than what I've given.
