We don't really have Dodge here only maybe a Dodge Viper but there isn't really an Australian part of Dodge.
Thats right, we don't have Dodge in Australia. We do have Chrysler however and any Vipers which are sold in Australia through Chrysler are sold as Chryslers, not Dodges.

Mmmm.... Guy down the street way back used to own one of those. Made me go all sorts of green.

Of course, now I know better ;) Though I'd still be disappointed if they left out the older GT falcons.

A Falcon SS? I've seen Monaro SS, Torana SS and Commodore SS but never a Falcon SS.
Falcon S? Brock Falcon? We may never know...

I think one that most seem to be missing is the VL turbo. That'd be interesting to race against R-31 Skylines.

I think the XDs used to have an 'S' option. I've seen plenty of XDs with an S on the rear quarter panels.

There was a GS falcon that wasthe same shape as that Falcon Cobra Crayola was referring to. Maybe that's what he saw and just misread it. It probably had some funky 70's badges that easily could have been misread.

Then again maybe the owner is just confussed and thinks he has bought an old kingswood or monaro ;)

I've never really liked the XC Cobras. All they were was a fancy paintob and a few bits and pieces to make them look a bit better than the standard Hardtop so Ford could get rid of the last handful of XCs before the introduction of the XD.

This talk of an SS falcon made me remember the Bullet Roadster and Roadster SS. These are some pretty awesome cars.

There are two models, the Roadster powered by a 4L V8 (with 225kw) and the big daddy SS model powered by a supercharged 4L V8 packing 320kw! From memory the basic engines are sourced from Lexus.

With 0-100km/h taking only 4 seconds and a standing quarter mile of 12 secs flat.

The styling around the lights is a bit ugly and the rest is that great to look at either but you can't argue with the speed of these machines.

Well look at me, I must be sparking in 24 Karat gold, because it looks like I hit gold!

I was watching SPEED Channel show "AutoWeek," and Dutch Mandel referred to the GTO's styling as bland. Now as I said, I think the car looks perfectly fine even with Pontiac's signature grill. If you ask me, it's better looking than most of the other crap American GM is putting out. They killed the Cavalier, the uglied the Malibu, the SS-R is pretty cool, the C6 needs a makeover to look more like the C6 and not a dorky-looking sportscar (I'd hate to see if the C6 GTS race car looks like crap too, then I'd REALLY root on Ferrari or Dodge to clean up).

To me, Australian cars have agressive styling and mean HPs to match. These cars, to me, are about as good as American cars, if not better. You HAVE to include Australian rides. Hell, I can see myself racing a Holden Commodore from 2001 or 2003 against Camaros and Mustangs. Even hotter if I have a V8 Supercar to throw around a track.

By the way, Bathurst would make a nice addition to the GT4 track lineup. Australia is cool! It's more than koalas and kangaroos and eucalyptus- it's sweet cars with sweet horsepower.

I first thought Bathurst was a street course, but as I learned, it is mostly a road course. But anyhow, Bathurst, Holdens, Ford Australia, JOSS Supercar, you can't go wrong, baby!

Ah John I really like your thinking, I am gald you think of Australia as more than just koalas and kangaroos. Have you been to Australia John as you seem to know all about Australia cars?

I first thought Bathurst was a street course, but as I learned, it is mostly a road course.
The Mount Panorama racing circuit at Bathurst only has two races a year, the 1000km race and the 24hr race (maybe not anymore), so it is comparable to other street courses in the world in that respect. Every other day of the year it is a public road with a speed limit of 60kph and is the only access road for some residences.
Bathurst was Australias first inland settlement, 210km west of Sydney. In the mid 1930s when the gold miners had finished with Bathurst, the town began to struggle. The Mayor at the time asked the government for funding to build a tourist drive to bring people back to Bathurst and not have Bathurst turn into a ghost town. The mayor got his funding and designed a motor racing circuit. The road opened in 1937 as a tourist drive and the first race was a motorcycle race in 1938. Since then, Mount Panorama has been the home of motorsport in Australia. The circuit has held many motorcycle, sportscar races and was the host for the Australian Grand Prix in 1947, 1952 and 1958.
The endurance race for touring cars, now known as the Bob Jane T-Marts 1000, was moved to Mt Panorama in 1963 from Phillip Island and was won by Bob Jane and Harry Firth in a Ford Cortina. This has been Australias most popular race for the last 30 years though entry requirements for cars have changed several times.
Anyone who has only seen the track on television must make an effort to get to the track one day. The steep inclines, drops and blind corners can not be appreciated until you drive around there yourself.
It would be great to see Bathurst included in GT4 though I think this is wishful thinking. I can't put up with the poor quality of the physics or track layout of the TOCA games or Race Driver which have Bathurst as one of the tracks, so until PD make a GT with Mt Panorama, I guess i'll have to be content with a quick detour around the track when I get the occasional job out near Bathurst.

Thanks for the insight, Schrodes. And no, GT3Freak. I don't know too much about Australia, but my favorite city in Australia = Sydney. I also like Adelaide. It's just too bad the ALMS doesn't race at Adelaide again after that "Race of a Thousand Years."

that race of a thousand years was cool........io iwsh i was down there for that and i wish the ALMS would come back to australia...this time with BETTER RACE COVERAGE

Remember that crocodile Audi R8 from that race? If you ask me, with some better luck and more factory support from the makes represented, I think the European Le Mans Series and Asia-Pacific Le Mans Series would have succeded. And if you ask me, I don't think there is a legitimate sportscar racing series. I mean, I don't hear of Audi Japan Team Goh (good luck winning one for Japan this year!) racing alongside the JGTC or anything.

But anyhow, if you want LM machines, try these:

Holden Commodore V8 Supercar
" Monaro LM Race Car
Ford Falcon XR8 V8 Supercar
" Falcon XR8 LM Race Car (more lights and GT wing)

You like?

The Holden Monaro fitted with a 427 cubic inch V8 and huge rear wing won the 24 hour race two years in a row. The standard car is fitted with a 5.7 L V8. A LM car base on the 427 Monaro would be great for GT4. Maybe we would call it the Pontiac GTO LM.
Also as Schrodes said the TV does not show the true steepness of the Bathurst track.
The public road is speed restricted to 60 KMH and heavily enforced by the local Police. The day I drove around with the family a couple of cars went past me going above the speed limit, When we got to the bottom of mountain straight A Highway Patrol car was entering the track with flashing blue lights on in pursuit of the two offenders. I do not know how many laps the pursuit lasted!
Well worth the visit for overseas motor sport fans.

I'm going to bathurst this year. My dad might drive around there. Also I will miss out on 2-4 days of school!:D

i remember the crocodile car......best paint job that have ever existed. it was such a clever design

i went to that race when it was on, much better the the current V8 Supercar race and the F1s in Melbourne, nothing touches prototypes screaming around at 300km/h in the dark :)

The Pontiac version of the Monaro has already made it's racing debut in the US in the World Challenge GT race at Sebring. It was built in only six weeks with help from Holden Motorsport and was un-tested prior to the event. Stu Hayner qualified the car in 25th position but retired early when the driveshaft broke due to contact with another vehicle. Hayner said he was happy with the pace of the car before the incident.
The Vauxhall version will make it's racing debut this month in the British NGT Championship in the hands of former World Superbike rider New Zealander Aaron Slight. This car was built by Greg Stevenson at Monaro Performance Centre in Melbourne. The same people who built Peter Brock's Targa Tasmania Monaro. The car will be run by Emotional Engineering Motorsport and uses a 550hp 5.7 litre V8, Hollinger sequential six speed gearbox, V8 Supercar grade braking system and the same aero package used by the Bathurst 24hr winning Monaros.
With three different brand names to choose from, there should be a Monaro in GT4 somewhere.

Vauxhall, Yes. Schrodes probably knows more than me about the subject, but I do believe Holden is exporting Monaro's to the UK.
They will be badged as Vauxhall's and are replacements for the Calibra according to Australian Motoring Magazines.

I heard it would just be called a monaro. I saw another Australian car I would like in the game, a HK statesman, there was one at my neighbours house, it was blody nice and sounded sick!

Go to http://www.emotional-engineering.co.uk/ and select GALLERY for some pics of the racing car.
The Vauxhall Monaro sells for 28650 pounds according to the Vauxhall website. Yes it's still called a Monaro and they haven't butchered the grill like Pontiac has.

...add a '70 australian touring car championship
That would be interesting. There was however only one Australian car in the 1970 ATCC (with any chance of winning anyway). That was Norm Beechey's championship winning HT GTS 350 Monaro.
