AUTO or MANUAL?

Besides being more fun & fast, manual shifting "forces" you to learn the courses much better; I know this is a 3rd gear turn, then 4 th, 5th and if I found the right line out of the turn a brief flirt with 6th before going down to 4th and so on...

Especially when handling those small errors that can happen on the knife's edge, manual shifting can never be replaced by auto.

I can only use automatic shifting with a DS2 pad and so i have to disagree with you on your points, you can learn just as much with an auto box on a course as well as using MT...after all you gotta know which gear the car has to be in going into a corner no? Thus you need to know how much braking you'll need to make for that corner.
Admittedly you'll probably get a quicker laptime with MT as opposed to AT but that's just not an option for me at the mo...at least till i get a wheel :D

The manual shifting in GT isnt really manual. Its sequential. Just a thought.         :nervous: :nervous: :nervous: ;) ;) ;) :) :) :)

I used to play as nothing but auto. Then I started practicing with a manual, just to learn it. Now I do it so smoothly in the game my little bro is shocked. He can't figure out how I do it. Now it's manual all the time. Road races, rally, endurance, all with the stick.

Most of the times I just use auto, and by holding the gearshifter button it still gives you a certain amount of control. (like in the corners..)

When i'm in the mood / or bored i use manual, but ultimately it depends on the car i'm drivin'

I drive F1 style, brake in a straight line, release, turn and use the gas if needed. So would having the ability to change gears during a turn help? I shouldn't think so,great in rallying though. :)
The only problem with using this style is the stupid AI cars that brake twice during cornering.Their entry speed is usually quicker than mine and 9 times out of 10 ends up contacting my rear bumper.

I drive Auto... I suck with manual...

(BTW... In real life... i put a jeep into a ditch from driving a manual lol... damn hard for somone who never driven one before)

Easier? no, better? yes. The manual's actuallly are a bit quicker, and a bit faster. Plus, when you get good, it becomes far easier to keep the cars in their powerbands.
