Automobilista 2 - Discussion Thread

Indy cars at Long Beach was great to watch this weekend. AMS2 does great job with the open cockpit cars. Can really get the sensation of flying a fighter jet at ground level. Did a few laps at Long Beach in lower tier open cockpit just to see what it is like. Have not really raced that circuit. Definitely would need to be very skilled for that track.
Wonder if you wanted to post that in this thread instead. 😄
And I agree. Some nights I'll set up a 4-5 race championship with 20 minute races in the Indycar. No qualy, random grid orders and start at the back just to see where I place. You pick up certain rivals after a couple of races and get all happy if you pass them.
Great stuff. I think that's my highest used car in the affinity. Need to check the stats again.

Back on AMS2 some this weekend. I am not sure what they have done with replay and track view. It is horrible compared to how it used to be. With that being said the actual racing, car phyiscs etc. Is easily maybe 3 times better then PC2. Just wished a lot of small to medium issues were also better. For any one that has PC2 as #1 on console. It would be worth getting PC just for AMS2.

I guess track replay is not to bad on some circuits.

Readjusting some of my settings.

LMP2 and P4 are my main current go to cars

My slower than PS5 laptop runs AMS2 on ultra with 90 fps and 1440p it really isn’t very demanding sim its required specs are similar to Project Cars 2 which run well on… PS4
I'm going to quote in here so it doesn't muddy up the PMR thread.
I take it back, I did some tests last night just to see what performance I'd get and the FPS and smoothness was consistent. I must have been confused about the performance or something. I don't see why AMS2 wouldn't run fine on newer consoles.

I strongly believe that AMS2 wouldn’t have any problems running in VR on PS5

Just tried the demo of this on my 3900X 2070 Super 16gb system and 24 cars pad control and me finishing last shows me that A. I can run this and B. It would just need a publisher to step in and a console release would be very possible and C. How much it costs if you want everything is north of £150!

If you wait for a Steam sale you will get if for a fraction of that cost, well worth it too.

Only problem is by the time they got around to releasing it you'd be on the PS6.

Can't say too much obviously, but I think people will like what's coming.

AMS2 stuff and things.

I wonder when we will get Ferrari pack. It seems to be only one left.
It hasn't been mentioned from any inside sources that I know yet but it has to be next in line. Maybe Endurance Pack #3 get's the funds to go after it harder. At least we can get the PC2 content. Those are some good Reffaris in there.

Yes it is good that we can mod this but still i would prefer official ones ;)

Wow. 4 dollars. :)

Sounds like an amazing deal for people to try out AMS2. I believe that I have $150 at least invested in AMS2. With the original purchase and add-ons. The main reason that I switched from console to PC racing was AMS2. I do however remember when I first purchased AMS2 in summer 2020 that tried to get refund from Steam. At that time there were several major things that did not like. Complete different game now. I also remember PC2 being a lot better on PC. I bought PS4 mainly for PC1. Anyways a few months left before PMR releases. I would expect that if it has the project cars aspect but significantly better. That will be the racing platform that I use for 2026. I think AMS2 and PMR should consider merging.

Ehhhhhh, I don't know if we should muddy things up too much but since they are very close with Reiza accepting the Madness Engine, they could really capitalize on some benefits. I personally would like to see more of what PMR is going to do before going all in on a merger. Reiza has done wonders with the Madness Engine and I can only assume that each set of developers are now on a path to make the physics engine they're in work the best they can. I can see in the future if both are successful that a merger would be great. But at this point, Reiza have done nothing but prove that they can do good work and listen to their community, Straight 4 has a lot reputation to still build.

Setting up my profile and wheel-pedals was easy-peasy. Many cars and tracks for $3.99. Got on track and was impressed with over all feeling. I think I'm going to spend some time in this sim.
Once you get your FoV and camera shake, vibration, and hor/vert movement settings down, it get's even better. If I remember correctly, the camera settings were a bit much for me at default. If you need to get on Discord for links to mods and such, help as well, I can send you some links.

After a few days of shake down runs I have it pretty much down. Dialing in FOV and camera settings will take some time, but it's getting easier the more I fool with it. I still can't believe how much you get for $4. DLC's will be in my future, just not needed right away. This will keep me busy until EVO is a full game, and then some. Go Tigers!

Go Tigers for sure!
You'll want that Content Manager installed too at some point in time to start getting some more content as well. Good thing you got AMS2 because Evo is looking like it's going to take a while.

My Moza R5 been giving me some issues lately. Actually reoccurring issues. After so many hours/days of playing the wheel will not recenter. Will be like at somewhere between 15 and 30 degrees off. Usually - putting wheel into rest mode and then back to work mode will fix it. Along with restarting AMS2 and occasionally complete computer restart. This time was worst that it's ever been. Nothing would fix it. Finally did all driver updates and complete recalibration. Then new configuration in AMS2. Not convinced that it is fixed and only time will tell. Very frustrating.
