[B-Spec] S1 Viper Festival of Speed - Test, This is a Test, Test, Test

My car will be easy to find. It's the only black car in the field.

Much like a dark rose, easy to notice but daunting to look at nonetheless... Dark roses have even more thorns if one's not careful.

I kid, I kid. Still, it is true, your car will be easy to spot. My RT has the odd characteristic of sharing the main body color with the other Portuguese RT on the field, but fortunately my stripe color choice saved my hide from resorting to the Sherlock Holmes's method of clue-spotting. Grey seems to be a popular way to dress up a snake...

All this nonsensical joking aside, it's good to see progress being made in this series. It's never fun to cut things at the last second due to other commitments, especially when those are related to unwarranted last-minute interferences. At least those are done with for the time being, and this Festival can continue. Now fingers crossed for a GTR2 that can actually prevent itself from breaking down...

Is it too late to submit an entry for this? I wish to have a crack at it.

So in between my constant battling with editing the OP, because it's pretty ugly if you switch between the BB Code editor and the standard editor, all liveries have been completed and are now in game. As evidence as such, here's a quick video as I start the work on getting them to race in the way I want them to. If anyone doesn't like how theirs turned out, or want theirs to look a bit different since there's quite the contingency of Oreca lookalikes, feel free to ask for changes.

In the coming weeks will be the Pre-Season test at IMS, using the Road Course configuration that was converted from SimRaceWay. The session lengths for the Race Trim and Qualifying Trim sessions will be two hours and twenty minutes respectively.

Umm...yeah, I don't like that there are a number of cars with the same look in GTS-R, namely the bright red w/ white that I also chose. Is there any chance I could have my GTS-R match my RT/10?

Yup, I can do that.

As for @Pezzarinho17 and @AudiMan2011, the last call for entries was quite the while ago and all the cars that were entered back then had their liveries finished and are in-game. I am wanting to get this going, so I'm going to say that the call to enter was too late. No ill will intended, and I'll chuck you two on the reserve list so when Season 2 comes around, you'll guys get a fair crack at an entry.

News and Notes from Day 1:
  • There were no accidents to report from the first day of testing even with the pretty suspect Pit-Out AIW the SimRaceWay conversion of the Indianapolis Road Course has. There were a few of the cars doing their runs in packs of two or three as they naturally formed through each of the cars at different points of the tire wear, but no car to car collisions were reported.
  • The big development that came out of Day 1 would be how the tires performed during the Qualifying Simulation. The spec Michelin tire took a few laps of the 4.2 kilometer road course before they got to the optimum operating temperature, with everyone partaking in the test gaining anywhere from one and a half to two seconds between their first flying lap and their best lap of the twenty minute session. This may prove vital in some of the longest races of the season where two or more pit stops are expected.
  • If anyone is wondering why they weren't so quick in the Race Sim, but picked up the pace in the Qualifying Sim or vice versa: the talent file that is being used for everyone has a rather large range in terms of their pace on track from session to session and even from lap to lap as a means of spicing up the action and, as a probably futile attempt, to keep the championship wide open for as long as possible until we get to Grand Valley. As for Jahgee and GTRacer? I got nothing.

A double 4th place finish? I can certainly live with that, consistency is one key to victory land. Of course, pace and luck are the other two, buuut we'll cross that sidewalk when we get there. My talent file has potential if he can keep this up...

News and Notes from Day 2:
  • There were one accident to report from the day that the GTS-R Class cars came out to play, as that dodgy Pit-Exit AIW at SRW Indianapolis decided to make it's presence known. The line cuts over the Pit-Exit divide line, which you're never suppose to cross anyways, and then slows the car down on the racing line before they finally head out to turn 1. So what ended up happening was @Earth ran into the side of @swiftsmith right as the Number 50 Viper was heading to the slow-down part of the AIW while Earth was already there. There was a lot of body damage to both cars, and both were able to continue their race runs without much trouble. Two into one doesn't go, put no one told Russian Modders that.
  • Tires continued to be a big talking point with the drivers and teams (?) continuing to learn about the Michelin spec compound. Those who also took part in Day 1 of the test made progress in the session that they struggled with the day before, with @Harsk100 showing good pace in the Qualifying simulation in his GTS-R where as he struggled in the same session the day before. The difference of the two cars is starting to show within those who have driven both, with the primary difference being in the relative lack of torque and long-feeling gear ratios of the RT/10.
  • The first two races of the Season should be up and running within the next two weeks, there isn't much prep work to be done outside of making sure various potential issues with the Autumn Ring track are addressed. For those in the know, they can agree that the conversion of Autumn Ring from rFactor to GTR2 was rushed to say the least.

A great race result, which swiftly transistioned into a terrible Session 2 quali one... God I hate these rollercoaster performances, what I wouldn't do to get some consistency going. Oh well, at least these are no-points sessions, otherwise I'd be really frustrated.

Also, bonus points for you, Crashbroke, for bringing up one of New Japan Pro Wrestling's finest to the spoiler name puns. And addtional points for making the pun work!👍
