I have seen people talking about backing up cars before they trade them, as a precaution against being scammed. But how do u do this?

All one needs is an external memory device(USB stick, external HDD etc) hooked up to the USB port. Then all you need to do is go to Saved Data Utility (PS3) in the XMB & follow the instructions.

I know its a bit off-topic, but can you partition a USB stick to read multiple game saves of different users as different files?

IDK but if you have a computer then using one USB stick is plenty enough. I use one for my accounts to transfer the save to be backed up on my computer. I use a small 2GB USB stick but the biggest sized file is only 1.33MB & it's my main account that has over 600 cars.

I learned this the hard way but the PS3 does not like it when the file folder is not labeled "PS3".

You can try partioning the USB stick & if it works cool but I would rather not risk it myself.

I have two USB sticks but I have 6 accounts (insert pathetic comment here). I may decide to just put it on my laptop and put them in individual folders there. Do all of the file folders need to be named the same on the computer or can I rename both the saves and the folders?

I have two USB sticks too but only use the one(2GB) for my 4 accounts.

I have each one of my accounts in it's own seperate folder so there is no confusion. The folder is named with the PSN & then I save that particular save into that folder. DO NOT RENAME THE PS3 FOLDER TO ANYTHING ELSE. That folder has to be named PS3 or else your PS3 will not be able to read the folder.

My main account is in it's own seperate folder all by itself. 👍

My trading accounts folders are arranged like this :

GT5 Trading Accounts :

Account 1 : PS3
Account 2 : PS3
Account 3 : PS3

Where it says Account 1-3 can be named whatever you fancy but DO NOT RENAME THE FOLDER INSIDE FROM PS3

Do you mind taking a screen shot of your USB drive to show the directory/folder structure?

I have more than 1 account and backing up multiple saves is not possible at the moment because I haven't properly configured the directory structure to allow each PS3 account to backup the save files on the same USB drive.
