Florida - we've had a trip to Kennedy Space Center booked since ever, which NASA ballsed up and then ballsed up again. So we either cancel the tickets and lose £1,200 or roll with it. Maybe I'll pick up a US copy for my US PSN account while I'm there

If you pre-order me a GAME UK Gran Turismo 5 Signature Edition and let me pay you for it, I will send you a GT5 U.S. Collector's Edition free of charge just for helping me out. I'm serious!

Any ideas why Game has the release date as the 5th of November?

Because they are inane. 👎

GT5 doesn't show up on the www.usk.de site either, which is also very strange. And I couldn't find any Signature Edition save for the French amazon site.

They are not intending to keep them to the brick & mortar shops I hope.

Perhaps they're just waiting a bit longer. I imagine each country has its own Sony staff which dictate to the retailers what they can and can't do with their games.
I guess in Germany they're being a bit stricter :p

Well, the wholesalers don't offer the game so far.
My best guess would be that Sony on the one hand and our various online shops and retail ( Gamestop, Media Markt, Saturn etc ) on the other hand couldn't agree on exclusivity issues like who gets to seel the signature edition, which dealer has stealth car x or y etc.

Personally I don't really care, I was just wondering. I can't really remember a similiar case, tripple A titles can usually be preordered months before the release, even without an exact release date.

Or maybe Germany gets something special ? Maybe a Mercedes special edition ? Or a Nuerburgring special edition ? ;)

I thought you could barely make ends meet every month? But by the sound of this it isn't that bad. Is it?

As I said, it was booked some time ago. I suppose really we ought to have waited until nearer the launch, but them's the breaks - if we cancel the flights now, we lose £1,200.

Well, you don't have to do that - I'm happy to give a little assistance every now and then and it's not like it'll put me out - but I won't stop you :D

Bad luck guys.

I'm just surprised Australia hasn't had any problems yet. We're usually the first to get screwed :-/

Dude, they're a game retailer. In terms of the flow of products, they're the second-last to know about it; we, the gamers, are always the last in line. Chances are that GAME didn't know the Signature Edition weighed more than one kilogram until now. The weight of a product is hardly a commonly-asked question. You can't blame them for not knowing these things. After all, they get dozens of new releases going through their company at any one time; they don't just stock GT5.

I'm curious if you live in the US why do you want the SE? What is in that edition that you want so badly? Just curious.

It's a Friday..?

Exactly why I changed my mind about getting it :p

But the raffle prize is an SLS, not an old video from a cancelled 1980s TV show :D

Also the contest\raffle is only open to certain countries.

Also like the GT Academy, United States, Canadian, and even Japanese fans are out of luck, as the Signature Edition (and the competition) will only be available to residents of the following countries: UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Greece, Czech Republic, Russia, Poland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Probably Game not wanting to break the UK friday release schedule, the SCEE release date was from the November 3rd. Same reason I believe the Australian release will be the 5th too, but hopefully not.

I don't think anyone internationally are trying to buy our versions (they would be crazy), and because we have our own SE there is no reason to attempt a import. So we don't have these issues. Only problems I see here so far is the fact we have no fixed release date from retailers, pretty much every one of them vary 1st-5th or just say "November".

 GT5 is the Vinyl of video games.
:scared: :) 👍

Then GT5 surely is a quadruple A title because it was available for pre-order years before release ;) Maybe they've become a little cautious or have trouble fitting it in amongst all the Move and Kinect stuff.

Anyway, just hope it shows up in the end at amazon, because with my schedule it's going to be very hard to show up at gamestop during their office hours. I care a tiny bit, because I would hate to miss out on the Signature Edition. I hardly buy any video games, because I'm no video gamer as such, so it would be nice to have something special once.

Otherwise I'll order it in the UK as usual.

Something special for Germany? You mean like the Porsche DLC? Haha, I believe the whole of the GT-Universe would be after us :nervous:

The Signature Edition is what I want and why I want it!

It's just sleeker-looking and comes with more collectibles than the U.S. CE - of which I am also getting. ;)

I am a collector, so having everything a game offers gives me the satisfaction that I have "the complete set", so to speak.

Ok like I said just curious I would like to know what is in the black coffee table book. If I were a collector I would want this too.

On a personal note I like the GT-R that comes with the CE but that Merc looks good as well. If I had the extra cash I would like to import the SE too.

You don't get many of your kind in these days, and with DLC and downloadable games and all that, you're an endangered species I fear ;) So, go for it and thanks for the heads up - forgot to mention that 👍

I'm a collector, but I only stump up the extra for games that I really like 👍

I'm also a collector - aside from Korean GTConcept and Korean GT4, I have a copy of every full release (plus one or two others) - and I'm happy to help out a fellow collector.

That said, I'm not sure how many preorders of SE I can get away with and I'm not especially comfortable with handling several high-value boxes to be sent out with Royal Fail to "abroad" - there's significant potential for a "postal mishap" which only multiplies with every parcel - so this one is a one-off. First-come, first-serve, I guess.

No problem for the heads up - I'm just looking out for my fellow Gran Turismo brothers and sisters.

Endangered species? Not a chance! As long as game companies keep making collectibles and rare editions of games; I will always have an expensive hobby to cherish and enjoy. ;)

Just hope they don't limit it to one per customer.. but I reckon it will be ok for everyone due to them getting the pre orders out early (to judge interest and to allocate stock etc.)

LOL at "Royal Fail". ;)

Sometimes they shine through, though. On a side note, I sincerely hope that I am the very definition of your "First come, first served" policy. 👍

Unfortunately, GAME UK will only allocate one pre-order per household/credit card/email address.

If you have more than one of each of those, you could get two. ;)

Why does the postal service in the UK have such a bad reputation? And if they do lose stuff all the time why isn't something being done about it?

Stop by Sarasota if you want to get a couple hours of GT5 time on my new G27. :)

Until very recently, there was no competition. And in many cases, there still isn't - and a business with no competition is a business that doesn't have to compete, especially if funded by the public purse anyway.

They don't actually lose that many things compared to what they deliver. They deliver about a billion items a month and lose about a million. About 30m items a month are deemed "undeliverable" (poor, no or incomplete address). That's about a 99.7% rate of success which isn't bad at all.

But in the case of me looking after a £150 box for someone else and then sending it on to them, I'd rather use a dedicated courier service. And I'd rather only do it the once.

Royal Mail never lost any of my items, and I do shop quite often in the UK from eBay sellers. Only thing I ever lost was GTA4 from play.com (just a side note) - but I really couldn't say if it was lost in customs or just got nicked out of my postbox.

But it's a great offer you're making Famine and I know the worries and hassle involved.

If there are any others members outside the UK that require a signature edition I will happily purchase and then post to them. I would also send it via a courier service with a signature required upon delivery. As long as the member was happy to cover the costs.

I think the reason why you can't yet preorder from germany is due to legislation.

I think they can only accept preoders if the subject appears in 6 weeks. (customer protection so you don't forget about it and get charged for something you might not want anymore...)

Amazon.fr accepts it
http://www.amazon.fr/dp/B003SNJNSG/

but the apex book might be in french

i got my SE from france and my CE from Uk (all amazon)

I almost 🤬 myself when i saw the price of that thing. a bit more saving is to be done ^^.

I pre-ordered the standard GT5 on Game UK and got an e-mail saying the release date has changed to the 5th which isn't right... lol

maybe thats why theres no pre-order in france and germany they dont believe it will release on the stated date lol

If you are looking to pre-order the Collectors edition from GAME, you better do so soon. I popped into the shop, and the guy behind the till told me that the pre-orders for the collectors edition would be closing soon.

He never gave a specific date, but he did say that GAME only had a limited amount of copies, and that the pre-order had been open for two weeks already. He also told me that you had to place a £10 deposit for the collectors edition, so I'm going in on Friday to order mine! 👍

I just received this in my inbox:

Terrific.

I pre-ordered this over a month ago [right when they started accepting pre-orders] and they choose now to tell me this?!?

So if you live anywhere outside the UK and pre-ordered the Gran Turismo 5 Signature Edition from GAME UK you will not be getting it.

On a side note, that is the last time I will ever deal with GAME UK, as I have had issues with them several times over the years. Usually, the issue is with them sending a collectors edition of a game overseas to me in an envelope and not in a sturdy container, thus it arrived in less than acceptable condition.

I really, REALLY wanted that Signature Edition! :indiff:

GAME UK = 👎👎👎👎👎

I'm sure Amazon.com will have it for pre-order eventually.

It could very well be right, in the UK games release on fridays which is the 5th, the date SCEE gave was from the 3rd for all regions, doesn't mean you will get it on the 3rd.
