What are your bad habits while racing? The kinds of mistakes a real racing driver would wave his finger at and demand that you fix.

I for one, frequently find myself entering long corners well before they start, and end up hugging the inside of the first half of the curve. It really takes some dedication to both the car and to the track for me to fix that habit, but switch either of the two variables and I'll be back at it again.

Anyone else make similar "bad-form" mistakes over and over again?

I drive with one hand on the steering wheel and one hand on the shifter (because it keeps it from rattling). Other than that, he just told me to downshift while braking, but my pedals don't work for heel-and-toe.

Oh, you meant in the game. Powersliding out of corners and yanking the handbrake for fun would probably be frowned upon.

I have a tendency to hit other cars from behind while trying to make an overtaking move:ouch:

I don't do it deliberately, I always try to race clean, but an early braker in front of me is 🤬 I'm not that quick on the DS3 left analog:guilty:

If he/she goes off the track, I always give the position back.

Apart from that, spinning my car just before the finish:D

I often end up blocking cars behind me online, or just being a d*ck (no contact though), even though I try not to =P

Quickly moving to the opposite side of the track during the start of a standing start.

Being to good lol.
No only joking I'm terrible mine is going completely off the racing line because I don't have it on.

Mine is going off while trying to watch the cars behind me. I always end up gettin one side on the grass and it just pulls the rest of the car in.

I'm getting used to the rally style so I'm powersliding any turns even in the tarmac, I don't need it ^^ But it's fun.
Anyway rally in a dirt track with a proper setup is probably the best driving experience in GT5.

Using the shift indicator (flashing number) as a brake point indicator.

I've been using the Citroen GT Concept Car (electric, and thus no indicator) more often to try and break this habit.

I used to do this all the time whilst learning tracks. I still need it for the 'ring.

Once i know the track i can remember more or less where to brake, then it takes a few laps to tune it to the car I'm in.

My bad habit is probably concentration. Sometimes i will be absolutely on it, in terms of the being on the racing line, bang on the braking points, getting the right amount of kerb on the exit. But sometimes i will be just plain awful! Its usually down to how good/bad a day at work i have had!

Bad habit of not being able to overtake properly. Only a few times I had a perfect overtake, but most of the time it ends up hitting someone or spinning out, or losing concentration on a turn.

^this. When I'm in a premium car (and am not racing just to win), I turn the HUD off so that I can't use that to cheat.

Just wish we can have turn off the indicator, or make it so that we we just have our gear number displayed on screen so we know how much to down shift.

When trying to pass on the inside, I often "over cook" it and accidentally bump the other driver. At least when that happens, I usually spin out too, so it's not totally screwing them, or I'll slow down and pull over to the side as much as possible so they can pass. (Sometimes they think I did it on purpose though and just ram me instead of passing...)

1. Following another car (in its slipstream) but this includes if that other car is about to go off-track. The Ai car goes off-track, and if I'm not paying attention, so do I! :dunce:

2. Doing the infamous "spin across the finish line move" to celebrate a win... only to realize I'm on Lap 2/3. :ouch: :banghead:

I usually enter hairpin/double apex corners way too early, hit the first apex at what looks like the perfect point, and run wide at the second (or the exit in a single-apex hairpin). That hounded me throughout the most recent GT2 lap time challenge, in which I came 4th. I probably could have been on the podium if I'd had more time to work out the second corner (double apex hairpin).

banging into the rear of AI cars as ways of slowing down when i'm going to fast into a corner

My worst habit (and probably the most often displayed by other online drivers) is trying too hard to pass as soon as possible, instead of being patient and waiting for a good time to pass clean. Unfortunately, if you do display patience, especially in the first turn, you'll end up being corn-holed by someone who has no idea and pushed into the guy you were trying not to hit anyways.

It's amazing the number of people that MUST be in first place in the first turn, probably the worst driving online is right there.

When it comes to this video game, I am overly throttle heavy, I don't mind letting the tail wag! That's probably why I only tend to win online when I'm in 4WD cars....

1) Not being able to apply the proper amount of opposite lock - Stupid controller's fault.
I usually over-correct and end up slowing myself down, happens in a few cars and tracks, not everywhere. One notable example would be a Countach on Cote D'Azure, more specifically sliding around the long left hander that's just after the start.

2) Oversteering in anything that loves to oversteer just to make smoke - Yay Smoke, More of you!

3) Using an Automatic transmission.

Sounds identical to me. LOL!

Get carried away and drift a few corners on the last lap and have gone a bit wide or of course creating some closer than wanted finishes.

I often loose sight of what *I* am able to do in *my* car and try and keep up with the person in front, following their line etc. In doing so, loose sight of my breaking points blahblah. Baaad.

I sometimes brake a little early but only lightly. Sometimes people freak out and lock them up when I do.

The biggest thing I do is only a bad habit in Gran Turismo's online lobbies. I apex my turns! Instead of braking late, hugging the inside curb, not being able to hold that line and sliding into and pushing off whoever you undercut like 90% of drivers online, I start wide, hit my apex and exit wide. It's only a bad habit when you're racing against ignorant people but a bad one to have against these people nonetheless.
