A brief update in the A1GP Total Mayhem series: With the final race, the Shanghai Feature, remaining, Emma Simpson of Northern Ireland clinched about three races ago, but there is a three-way tie at 104 points among Marty Thomas of Ireland, Rob Asher of Cook Islands, and yours truly of the United States.

Asher will be starting on pole as winner of the sprint race, I will be starting fifth, and Marty Thomas will be starting all the way back in 16th.

P.S. - After the V8 Pub series leader (by eight points) took a DNF at Symmons Plain 1, and I netted a fourth, I have taken a 100+ point lead!

P.P.S. - Basically need to sweep the final four to win Pub BTCC Production. Through 16 races, I have three wins, five podiums, TEN poles, and FIVE retirements, down 48 points.

lol, about the A1GP race, I stopped playing for a while.
meh, I think Champcar and A1GP aren't my series. Haven't played the BTCC though.
I like F1 06 the best!

Hmm, was I always that far down in the Total Mayhem series? XD

Well, I could still get up to 6th if I win (or 2nd + fastest) and Power Jr, Chang, and james all get squat. We'll see how that goes

And I'm personally a fan of A1GP myself because you don't have to worry about having a junk car and/or teammate mess up your season. Plus I won my first ever championship - like first in all of BATRacer - in A1GP ^^

Incidentally, it's still my only public championship. My second championship was a 2nd place in F1 06 and I've been doing crap ever since. :scared:

Arrrggh, my report got eaten. :grumpy:

Quick report then:
Lap 1: Davidson botches start again, falls to 10th. 15 seconds back!?! Beyens takes lead from teammate. Mason loses rear at corner, writes off car. Reaction described as "unpleasant."

Lap 2: Davidson's telemetry reports tunnel speed at -228,409,850.001 MPH. No harm.

Lap 5: Whitcomb passes Weiland for 4th.
Lap 6: Syme bobbles and spins in the only spot where it's safe to do that without wrecking.
Lap 7: Weiland passes Whitcomb for 4th.
Lap 8: Weiland goes past Chang for 3rd. No one cares, because Davidson wrecked. Reaction described as "frustrated." Dancing in Renault garage.

Lap 15: Domingues messes up pitstop slightly. Butler and Lovett go clunk, the Williams retires and Butler spins.

Lap 20: Weiland damages car because she can and she's going to pit this lap anyway. Horton and Dubois collide, Honda gets slowed - so much for points again? Double DNF for Williams. Reaction described as "dissapointed." What happened to Williams domination?

Lap 27: Shepherd does a Fast'n'furious burnout after gaining lead. Pit crew calls him in to slap him silly and replace clutch.

Lap 35: Domingues messes up pit stop. Again.

Lap 39: Halfway with a bang. LeSabre loses tire but keeps car. Faces red in Midland pits.
Lap 40: Team calls LeSabre in on same lap as teammate Kawasie. No harm. Faces redder in Midland pits.

Lap 49: Morley's engine grenades with nothing better to do. Reaction described as "irrelevant." No SC, strangely.

Lap 50: Whitcomb pulls stunning 18-second stop.
Lap 51: Syme one-ups. 21 seconds.

Lap 62: Domingues and Chang have spatial disagreement over P2. Domingues pits next lap, Chang gets away with it. On the track anyway.

Lap 64: Kawasie fritters away chance of points for Midland. Reaction described as "completely #@*(U*)#$@ unprintable." SC comes out.

Lap 70: 8 lap sprint go!
Lap 78: Well that was uneventful. Beyens takes the checkers, Chang and Shepherd taste champange. 3-4 for Aguri - Weiland 4th - nice. Domingues 5th - 4 points on Davidson and lead of 3 now (new leader!), but could've done better, Allman takes 6th for Ferrari but loses constructors to Renault. Whitcomb 7th, Hutchinson 8th. Red Bull pulled a dead last of the cars running. Double DNF for Williams. Where the hell are Toyota, Honda, and Midland? Crap seasons.

its pretty crazy how the Aguris are always in sync, even in the pts
but good job to you two :)
Now.. I just need a win somewhere..

Probably the benefits of being able to discuss things more openly to each other. It helps alot, we can discuss race strategy in alot more detail than most of you guys could in the given amount of time, and Jess is starting to really pick up on details now, she's fully in charge of her Qualifying now, and in the last 2 races she's out qualified me. 👍

We both take notes on other peoples qualifying strategies, and we improvise our pace and when we go out depending on who our main rivals are. So far this strategy has worked well for us, we're the leading team for average qualifying, and with a wet session coming up for Silverstone things can only get better.

We both strongly feel that any team sport should be played as a team, no matter how serious or not, we're both very competitive and like to be the best. If anyone is the number one candidate for showing how much a team effort is important, I think it is Aguri. 3rd in the championship, both drivers equal on points, both drivers very consistant and work well together on the track.

💡 Aguri for rookie team of the year?

well.. lets see how the season shapes up :)
i'm sure you are one hell of a player

Thanks no1rc3ur, I'm guessing you're Herman Chang?

You've got Qualifying totally sussed out, I'd love to see what damage you could do in a Ferrari or Renault! 👍

I'm just hoping that next season I can get a better car/team. I'd love to keep Jess as a team mate, but I guess it's the luck of the draw... or do we get to choose our team for next season?

Edit: Has anyone ever chosen Bender as a characteristic... if you have, what benefits did it have?

I've chosen it in a seperate season, and so far I've seen no change or benefit.

The GTP BATracer Lottery!

Yep it's that time of the show again ladies! For all you who are new, here's the process:

To reinact transfers and concract endings, the lottery picks 6 people who MUST drive for a new team next year (Just like drivers who get their contracts ended or not renewed) so, unless you were one of the six picked last year, put your name down by a number by the French GP please.

(6 drivers picked last time were: Hutchison, Kawasie (That's all I remember so far))

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7. Lee Davidson (Ferrari)
8.
9.
10.
11.
12.
13.
14.

Damn. Chang tested before me, then changed to wet setup, so i couldnt load and improve. :grumpy:

Luckily i got all spot on in one go so hopefully ill have a good wet setup too. It will be interesting to see who goes faster.

Can I please ask what these numbers mean? Are they respective to the car number, or is that another random choice?

Eg. If I picked "1" - would I be driving a Renault next season?

Edit: Sorry, I get it now, haha.. Oops :P

Put me down for number 1, and Jess wants 13. :P

I hope I get another year at Toyota.

That would rock, in a dull, uneventful way.

Toyota End of Season Party

Last weekend, Toyota held a party to commemorate the season.
This surprised a lot of the team, who were unaware the season had happened.

In typical Toyota fashion, there was no entertainment.
The refreshments were slow to reach the tables, but this was put down to the cooks wearing the wrong type of shoe. They wore lino-compatible shoes on what appeared to be carpet.

Game played included "pass the Single Podium Finish" and "pin the horsepower onto the car".
No-one managed to get the horsepower onto the car, thus reflecting real-life.

A mediocre time was had by all.

Edit: Has anyone ever chosen Bender as a characteristic... if you have, what benefits did it have?

I've chosen it in a seperate season, and so far I've seen no change or benefit.

I've used it a few times. From what it has done for me I would say it helps avoid damage from collisions, although nobody is exactly sure how it works.

ARGH!!!! So close to pole number 2!!!! 0.004sec behind - that's roughly 280mm!!!! Or the length of a front wing!!!

Well done Horton. 👍

Meh, I'll take your Aguri on the green light.

Lee, put me down for number 2

I have to admit, i expected to be higher up the grid than that. I set for 75% wet. What did you lot do?

hmm... out of the characteristic
what do you guys like to use?

Thinker obviously is one of the best
Pole sitting king+Speed Demon produces lots of poles. (Blake in season 3)
Wet Weather obviously has its qualities

what about the rest?
Hows you guys experience with them?

1. Jamez Shepherd (Super Aguri)
2. Jef Beyens (Renault)
3.
4.
5.
6.
7. Lee Davidson (Ferrari)
8. Jarrett Allman (Ferrari)
9. Herman Chang (McLaren)
10. Dan Graham (Toyota)
11.
12.
13. Jessica Weiland (Super Aguri)
14.

Numbers thus far..

Well Thinker is a god send, so that's a given, the second one has changed every season so far, Speed Demon seems to be doing the trick for me but my Quali is alot worse than recent seasons...

I rang Steve, he's opting out of the next season, so that's a free midland seat already.

Anybody interested in a GTP F1 using the 02 carset (yes, it means I'm pulling the pin on what was to be my "retirement" after Total Mayhem concluded)?

edit 2: Hmm. I have 71 race starts. Not bad.

Silverstone Quali, Season 5: An Unlikely Pairing

What do Japanese cars and Aussie souls have in common?

A spot on the front row for the British Grand Prix.

Brad Horton of Honda barely edged Jamez Shepherd of Super Aguri's time by 4 THOUSANDTHS of a second to win pole for the race.

Beyens, one of many home race favorites for tommorow, may be a little upset at getting knocked off the front row, but certainly the Renault packs more power and he is also coming off a win at Monaco. Keep an eye on him.

Allman will start 4th in the typical somewhere-in-the-points Ferrari position.

Row 3 finds the other Aguri of Weliand relatively distant from a teammate who she's been practically identical to all year - position, points, qualifying. Still, never count the Aguris out this year. Dubois will start on the outside for Williams #1, and he is looking for an improved finish over last race's.

McLaren fills up Row 4, with Chang qualifying 7th, and home race man Hutchinson, who had a fairly eventful qualifying but still starts 8th.

Domingues is leading the championship now but is stuck back in 9th after a messed-up inlap. However he's had success from the back of the field so keep an eye on him. Whitcomb will start 10th for BMW Sauber.

Graham of Toyota will start on the inside of row 6, and Syme of Red Bull will start 12th after a absolutely scorching inlap. The difference between 12th and 16th is still fairly irrelevant however.

And then again we have some cars with wrong tires. Again.

Honda's Charkaoui made a good but wrong guess with intermediate tires, while 2nd-place championship and home race hero Davidson starts from deep midfield (again) after using dry tires. The Ferrari crew simply cannot continue to make simple mistakes like this that endanger their title chances.

Also in a bit of trouble for his home race is Butler in the Red Bull, also on Inters.

Starting 16th is Kawasie, whose mechanics decided to fit the wet tires whenever they had a chance. They never did. And then he went out, did 2 laps, and wrecked.

Row 9 consists of Lovett in the Williams on the inside, and LeSabre in Midland on the outside. The Midland crew, after fitting wet tires for the dry qualifying by accident, made absolutely sure to put on dry tires next time. Unfortunately, it rained and then the car's engine exploded.

Morley will start 19th for no reason at all, and Mason will start dead last after his engine promptly bit it exiting the pits. Certainly it hasn't been an entertaining year for Toyota.

We've got a bunch of home race drivers charged up in front of their fans - but they're mired at the back. Plus, with a Honda and an Aguri on the front row, can either of them managed to pull a much-desired victory? Find out - tommorow!

---

Both Midland stories are, unfortunately, true.
Great Toyota end-of-season report, ultrabeat. Maybe I should make one for Midland soon too...
