Davidson Retiring At The End of S8!
Big news came out of the Williams motorhome today when Lee Davidson unexpectidly announced, after a mutual agreement with both Patrick Head and Frank Williams., that he is to reire from Grand Prix racing at the end of the Season. The statement was made just after qualifying today where Lee took 11th place on the grid. Lee, accompanied by Manager, Jackie Stewart, and Team Principle Frank Williams, confirmed the action by saying:
"I've had a great 7 years in the sport, the fan support over those years have been awesome. I'm just sorry I haven't been able to reward them with a Championship as of yet, maybe S8 will be my glory year, but it will also be my final year in this illustrious championship."
"I would like to thank both Frank and Patrick for understanding my situation. As for the future, who knows, I'd love to remain in the sport as a whole. It's something me and Jackie will have to have a talk about."
Frank Williams then commented on the issue:
"We are sorry to hear of Lee's decision but I'm sure he has taken time with his family to consider his future. Lee is a fantastic talent both inside and outside the car, and I can only wish him the best of luck with whatever he chooses to do next."
There's a rumour that Lee may take control of a ChampCar Team over in the US, he has also hinted at a career in V8 Supercars.
