I would like to drive for Red Bull one more year.

Although I didn't perform as good as I could, I think this next season will be my season

Thank you

Woodwiss shocks with deal at Renault

Season 1 stalwart Scott Woodwiss has shocked the GTP F1 paddock by announcing he will be driving for Renault in Season 9 alongside Luke Mason. The ex-Toyota driver had been linked with moves back to Toyota as well as Honda and Midland, but decided that he wanted to make his comeback with the French team.

"Renault are a team I've admired for a while. As much as I would still like to drive for both Honda and Toyota, I couldn't pass up the oppurtunity to drive with this great team. I'm really glad to be back in the GTP F1 pitlane with a race drive, and I hope that myself and Luke can bring Renault back to the top!"

Scott had a role with Honda last year as their third driver, but after hearing his chances of getting a race drive with them would be slim, he decided to shift his focus back to his old team, Toyota. But Scott feels confident he can take the fight to reigning champions BMW.

"They are a strong team, and it will be tough to beat them, but I feel that we can have a strong car to be up there in the points. I want to make Renault proud on my comeback and I'm determined to make an impact after 7 seasons away."

BMW stick with Tried and Tested Formula

BMW have announced today that they will be retaining the services of their two current drivers David Smith and Herman Chang for the GTP Series Season 9, the drivers who delivered both the Drivers and Constructors Championships for the team this year.

In a statement earlier today David Smith expressed his joy at having the opportunity to defend the championships won with BMW in the No.1 car, and is very pleased that the team have retained his teammate for the coming season.

There is still speculation however that relations between Smith and the team had soured during his faultering championship challenge, with rumours that Smith did not feel he was getting enough support from the team, and many feel that the championship win has pulled a veil over these problems and that if Smith makes a poor start to Season 9 that tensions within the team may re-emerge.

Transfers Round Up/Season Preview

BMW Sauber

Reigning champions from Season 8, BMW Sauber have confirmed they shall remain both Herman Chang and Drivers Champion, David Smith. Firm favourites going into the season.

Honda

Another team stickign with their line up from last season, the Brackley based squad will be fielding Canadian Guillaume Dubois and veteren Brit, Ashley Butler. If they continue from a strong second half to the season, they should give BMW Sauber a run for their money.

McLaren

McLaren have so far confirmed one of their drivers as Lee Davidson, drafted in from Williams in a big money move. Brad Horton looks likely to retain his seat after a brilliant Season 8 where he came close to taking the drivers title. Perhaps this could be the season McLaren finally take the titles?

Renault

Dropping double world champ, Blake Haswell, suprised everyone outside of the team, his replacement is Scott Woodwiss who returns after some strong showings as Honda's 3rd driver. Luke Mason keeps his drive for another season. Championships may be out of their grasps but they must win races for morale's sake.

Ferrari

Ferrari's favourite son, Jef Beyens, bows out of Formula 1 after a long winding career spanning 8 season and 1 championship. His replacement is Ben Dunstan who has spent the past few seasons in the wings of Ferrari's youth department. Duncan Hutchison remains at the Italian squad after impressing last season, a Championship is a must for this team.

Williams

Dropping both drivers after a relitively poor Season 8, the Grove squad have drafted both Ex-Midland drivers for their season, Yuuji Kawasie and Anton Wonton. A win would be impressive, points would be more realistic.

Super Aguri

Confirmed the return of their young talent, Jamez Shepherd, Super Aguri appear to be agressive going into this season, yet to confirm the second spot, Blake Haswell is always up for grabs.. Points should be the meal of the day for the Japanese squad.

Toro Rosso

Keeping Simon Trendell was a major coop for the team after his perofrmances last season. The brit will be joined by Suzanne Taylor who is looking to rebuild her career after a disastrous Season 8 with McLaren. Consistent points could be a struggle for the small team.

Midland

Yet to confirm either drivers, Midland will be looking for strong experienced drivers for their assult on the championship. Points will be a struggle.

Toyota

Suprisingly still in Formula 1, has never really graced the front end of the grid so far in the series. Looking to hit back at the critics this season with the line up of Matt Keller who drove for the team last season, outpacing the dropped Bram Machiels. Joining the American is Nick Nikolakopoulos from Red Bull, looking to get a foot in the door of Formula 1 properly. Points must be scored if they want to make any impact.

Red Bull

Struggled for pace last season, unsuprisingly dropping both Nick Nikolakopoulos and Ron Faraci, the team has yet to sign any drivers. Beating "B" team Toro Rosso is a must.

So what was the final verdict on changing the BATracer GTP series to A1GP?

Last time I was on here it seemed as though S9 would be changing to the single car teams. ???

Silverstone test for 3 teams.
After a shock announcement by Renault that Scott Woodwiss would be driving for them, we have heard little else from the Oxford based team. Until today, 3 teams were present at Silverstone today for some pre season testing, and Renault were amongst those teams. Therefore we finally saw Scott out on the track in his new machine and he sensationally beat Brad Horton to set the fastest time of the day.

Down the pitlane a bit were Mclaren conducting some aero tests as they welcomed their big money F1 veteran Lee Davidson. However things did not go according to plan when Lee lost control of his car at the exit of copse, after the subsequent bouncing on the grass his car finally slammed into a barrier and came to a halt bringing out the yellows. He walked away with no injuries and a battered ego. Lee only completed 5 laps prior to this shunt.
Davidsons car after the shunt

Toro Rosso were the 3rd team at the test and Suzanne Taylor was comfortably outpacing her team mate Simon Trendell all day. However Simon Trendell was testing different tyre compounds and was thus not pushing to go fast.

Saturday test times.
1. Scott Woodwiss Renault 1:18.687
2. Brad Horton Mclaren 1:18.845
3. Suzanne Taylor Toro Rosso 1:19.330
4. Luke Mason Renault 1:19.514
5. Lee Davidson Mclaren 1:19.900
6. Simon Trendell Toro Rosso 1:20.824

Dunstan struggles at Monza.
New boy at Ferrari Ben Dunstan was with the Scud at Monza this morning, the boys in red were testing their S9 contender despite the weather providing a set back. Ben who had not driven the Ferrari before today took a little while to get used to the car with numerous spins. All in all though a reasonably good day for him. Duncan Hutichson on the other hand enjoyed the wet weather and easily outpaced his new team mate.
Dunstan looks back to his pit

Monza test times.
1. Duncan Hutchison Ferrari 1:23.430
2. Ben Dunstan Ferrari 1:25.693

Awww damnit Ash, why didnt you do screenshotted reviews like that when I was still playing?? lol

What game is that screenshot from?

And how's this for consistency in the Midland:
9786 GTP F1 Season 8 P12
7574 GTP F1 2006 – Season 6 P12
:dopey:

Bee
Ask Blake, oh wait.. :dopey:

Ah ok, so it's still on the cards for S10?

I reckon it'd be great to see A1GP, at least you don't have to worry about an AWOL team mate. And totally even cars, a really good chance for hardcore driver battles.

Speaking of which, I had an A1GP race last night, which I finished 3rd, only 0.234 behind the leader... and the top 17 were seperated by only 14.780 seconds!
:dopey:

oh, i thought that game is the new, F1 06.
damn it, we US can't get it.

Wasn't it coming out for the PS3 in the States? But then again the PS3 is still $600 so importing is the most cost-effective option. Looking at getting the JP PS2 version for $58 dollars + ~$30 for stuff needed to make it run for a US PS2. Little expensive but hoping it might be worth it :) (aside from other import games I'm looking at >.>)

On-topic: I likes the concept of A1GP, except I really really suck at it <.<

um, i think there are two F1 06 games, one is like Championship Edition or something.
and then there is the F1 06 one.
Probably can get a conversion to let it run the EU or JP version, but i'm too lazy and don't have time =.=

Bahrain day one - Super Aguri begin exclusive test

Aguri's newest signing Jamez Shepherd sampled the team’s Season 9 challenger for the first time on Sunday, as the squad commenced a three-day test session in Bahrain. Test driver Takuma Sato, who gave the SA02 its maiden outing at the same circuit last week, was also in action.

The pair took advantage of the dry conditions at the desert circuit and completed a total of 177 laps during a productive day of running. Shepherd, who took charge in the morning, managed 110 laps as he acclimatised to the new car before an engine failure ended his day.

After lunch, Sato stepped in to replace Shepherd in the second SA02. The Japanese driver began a programme of development work and covered 67 laps before a tyre failure which left the SA02 with a demolished front end from a heavy impact with the wall. He ended the day the quickest of the two Aguri drivers, clocking a best time of 1m 37.807s - just over three-tenths faster than Shepherd.

The Aguri team continue testing in Bahrain on Monday, with Sato and Yamamoto in charge of driving duties.

Unofficial Sunday times from Bahrain:
1. Takuma Sato, Super Aguri, 1:37.807
2. Jamez Shepherd, Super Aguri, 1:38.126
