I'll take 10.
And one more time, let's fire up the prediction engine...
Man, I really hope this thing is broken
A thrilling finish nevertheless! Danny was the odds-on favorite after qualifying second with only one qualifying run; with Appie 13th and Metar piloting the other Ferrari to 15th in quali.
It was a brutally hot and rough day for the cars in Brazil as engines blew left and right; luckily the BMW and Ferrari powerplants were pretty reliable, but the 3 Safety Cars resulting from oil being spread on the track really messed with a lot of team's strategies.
For some reason, the tire compounds had extremely poor life at Interlagos and as such Appie and his 1-stop strategy doomed him to a race of moping around at the back hoping for retirements. He ended up with a 7th place and two points, but nothing close to what was needed for the championship, unfortunately.
Meanwhile, Metar, the leader by 7 over Danny, had bigger worries on his mind as he tossed it into the barriers just past halfway, forcing him to sweat it out on the sidelines as Danny performed well all race.
With the final Safety Car going away with 6 laps to go Danny was in 4th and needing to pick up two spots to lay claim to the WDC. He blazed around the annoyingly defenseless BMW of Kawasie and the...well, Toyota of Lynn within the first lap to put himself in line to take home to trophy.
But it wasn't to be! On the penultimate lap, the glory-seeking Toyota of Lynn pushed its way past the Ferrari (a blasphemous act in itself) and, fearing a collision, Danny had to back off and wait for an opportunity on the final lap. It was an opportunity that just never showed up, despite his hardest attempts to get past again.
And so Metar took the title by one point over Danny and three over Appie. Ferrari still had the WCC well in hand, though, so the team couldn't be too dissapointed over which driver did and didn't win.
