I have both games, and if you ask me, I think Initial D is a lot more fun than Battle Gear 2, so is Kaido Battle. I think they are better dirift games for PS2, but thats just me.
Me and my friend go to the arcade and play Battle Gear and i think its way better then Intial D but Intial D is more fun, But one day we went there we were drifting on course 3, and we brought one of our friends with us and he pulled out his camera, he go a video of us drifting and you can see theres like so many kids surrounding the game its funny, plus the camera was right in the middel so the sounds of it are great ...
BG2 on PS2 for me is sucks!.. graphic are sucks too.. initial-d is way more fun to play. Kaido battle is also fun plus real drift and application of handbrake is used here. I hope BG3 on PS2 will be more better, i mean lots lots better than BG2.
I have never played Battle Gear in the arcade, so I don't know if the controls in the arcade are better than the PS2, but the PS2 version of this game I would have to agree with csk on this one does suck. But I just keep it because it has the initial D cars in it.
