Battlefield 2142 Topic. (Full Version Released)

When you open the box, a big slip of paper falls out first, preceeding any discs or manuals. The slip of paper says, essentially, that 2142 includes monitoring software which runs while your computer is online, and records "anonymous" information like your IP address, surfing habits (probably via cookie scans), and other "computing habits" in order to report this information back to ad companies and ad servers, which generates in-game ads.

Now, I can live with certain in-game ads (though apparently there will be Dodge truck and Neon ads in the bleak, futuristic world of 2142), but including a lengthy description - outside of even the Eula - seems to indicate even EA knows that this is some shady borderline spyware crap. I don't support it and won't be buying 2142 (for a host of other reasons, too)."

I did notice that a file BF2142Pace.exe was being blocked by Windows Firewall. What's interesting is that Pace is normally a security program that validates user software before using it. I was able to block that program and I still had full online support and playability on the full version.
 
I have to wait until Monday for mine...didn't arrive by Friday :( Oh well, got it for $63 AUD so I can't complain too much :D
 
Well I just finished an hours worth of play (took me like 3 hours to install it and sort everything out :grumpy:) and I got 51 points altogether, but they're not showing up on my BFHQ, hopefully it will update soon.
 
Got it, played it for a day, ranked once, then haven't had time to play it anymore... Looking to play some now...
 
Just finished an awesome session online, playing Recon. Unlocked the C4 as a field upgrade and it was great :D

I was also gettin loads of kills with the sniper rifle too, seems a bit easier in this game which is good I guess.
 
Wow. I just downloaded the demo and, I must say, it's great.

I can run it on all medium at 1024x768 I'm sure (I only have about 4 settings on medium, the rest on low, and AA on 2x). It looks beautiful even on medium settings. Actually, it runs better for me than Battlefield 2 did. Once I get another 512MB of RAM, I'll definitely be rocking out the settings on Medium-High. Sadly, that is my biggest bottleneck. I only have 512MB of RAM, so I'm a bit lacking there. I'm definitely getting this game though, no doubt.
 
yeah, i upgraded from 1 stick of 512 and a stick of 256, to two sticks of 512 @ dual channel, and now there is no stuttering whatsoever.

i also upgraded from a 50gig eide hard drive to a 160 gig sata hard drive... so maybe that played a part too :P
 
I've unlocked all the Medic tier so far :) I'll probably unlock some support stuff next or engineer, pretty good game. My account name for 2142 is Vasc000 and soldier name Vasco.
 
I got it over the weekend but haven't had too much time to play it. So far it's great, though.

We got it too, nice game. Might play some today, though i got it for dad, i dont mind having some goes. But not enough to get my own account.

I have this problem too, but thankfully there is a way to solve it. Create a shortcut to the BF2142 exe, then go on the properties for the shortcut. In the box named 'target' you need to add "+menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024" (without quotaition marks.) to the end of what is already in there.
So when you've done it the target box should say "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

Another tip in case people didn't know this already, you can get rid of all the annoying intro movies at the beginning of the game, so you can load it up and go straight to login. Just go to your BF2142 installation folder, then mods, then bf2142, then delete the folder called movies.

hey guys, this sounds like an awsum game. I was hoping i could get it for christmas from my brother :) i was just wondering what specs are you running on your computer? ive got 1gig of ram and a radeon x1600t or something im not sure. Its the third best radeon i think, thats what ive heard anyway. I hope i can be playing with you guys soon!

how much ram do you have? i used to get stuttering when i just had 768, i was mixing a stick of 2700 and 3200. now i have 2x512 sticks of 3200 ram and i dont get any stuttering. i can even run with a little aa and af. i am talking about the demo map. i dont have the full game. i also got a SATAII drive around the same time... maybe that played a part as well.
