This is the same everytime, and makes a lot of people angry but their is no alternative if you want to play the game legally.
Your PS3 does the same while you sleep (chip.de showed this)
Steam, and other DRM are the same to some extend.
And don't start with law, we all saw how much the german gouverment gives a crap about your privacy rights and german Domestic affairs minister Herr Friedrich likes the Stasi (bundestrojaner - Statestrojan) and how much was done in the last month to encounter it. NONE, BKA even defends it (with all the illegal activites like the sceenshot). CCC gets sued because they allegedly prevent investigations, which were illegal from the beginning,...
Are you on Facebook and use google as a search engine?
If yes you already are a glass-citizen
I for one can say, I can google myself and find absolutly nothing. I will even request once my personal file that google gathered over my IP
EDIT:
Now googled some bits, the problem was present in the eula of august, most of us didn't even install it in that time. Now it is not that different from others EULA's but still not perfect.
One thing is sure:
No panic. You are legally pretty well protected by the EU.
Now let's say this hypothese:
Your PC is full of illegal counterfeit games. Origin detects it . EA wants to sue you. All data collected is illegal and therefor NO panic.
And for people saying you sign the eula and should have read it: All contracts containing substance in disaccordance to the law are nil.
German tribunals already sentences that end users can not read all Eula's or have the right to forfeit a certain paragraph. In case of doubt judgement is made in favor of the end user
If you really want to be sure about your privacy there are enough programs out there to protect you, hide your IP(hidemyass), block origins rights on the PC to only the necessary folders (put it in a sandbox, can give you a tuto via PM),....
