The Palace is great fun in the full map, I like the downtown area in it. I've had some epic fights at C on Epicenter and Talah Market is full of action.

I haven't really played BF3 in awhile and jumped on today. I noticed my GPUs are no longer getting usage at 99%. Did something happen in the last few months that they screwed up the game or something for PC. With my 570s I was getting over 10 FPS more then i am with 670s. It's been a few months though since I played the game.

I think Markaz is actually my least favorite of the new 4 but all in all they are probably the 4 best maps in the game. Epicenter can be a ton of fun but it seems a bit too easy to cap all the points and then spawn camp the other team at times (I've seen it happen and one team get off to a 500 ticket lead on multiple occaisions). Talah and the Palace are great maps and I've had nothing but fun on them. I wish vehicles weren't able to get up to the top floor on palace, but oh well

Haven't had time to play on weeknights lately, but hopefully I'll get some decent hours in this weekend.

Edit: Also, hardcore is the only way to play. Normal is so damn frustrating.

I'm in ex hardcore player (I had no choice if I wanted to play with my main group of friends) .I played it for the first 6-8 months when I just come to the conclusion that all it is is nothing but frustrations. It holds nothing over core in my opinion. It struck me that the only reason why my friends played it was that and I quote "its easier to kill people". It seems to me that the people who prefer it are the ones who struggle with core and aren't accurate, so as a crutch they need their opponent to drop instantly to get any kills.

But having a mini map with little triangles indicating where your enemies are isn't a crutch?

How is it a crutch. nearly every, if not all FPS's have a minimap its a staple of the genre. Anyway, Hardcore had to play with the minimap up until very recently and the majority still do so I've heard. so nice try....

Racing games have lobbies with all aids off because "its easier to pass people when they spin out."

Racing games have no aids options for the people who rather a more challenging, rewarding and fun experience. Hardcore any of the above? Hmm, lets think.

Is instakilling and being instakilled challenging, rewarding or fun?

Is getting teamkilled by idiots for no goddamn reason fun?

Is it that the boring slow paced nature of hardcore games are fun epeccially when hardcore seems to play into the hands of campers?

Is it fun engaging in 1 firefight to survive but be left injured for the rest of that life? So you just as well had died anyway?

So, Hardcore, challenging?, rewarding?, fun? For me? No way in hell.

Its entirely personal taste; I could spin everything you have said to a racing game with no aids.

Is it more challenging, rewarding, or fun to race with no aids?

Is insta-spinning out rewarding or fun?

Is getting slammed into by idiots and taking damage fun?

Is the boring 'follow the racing regulations' fun?

Is it fun wrecking once and being damaged the rest of the race?

If you don't think hardcore is more challenging you're either camping in a corner or smoking crack.

You can health-regen in hardcore with a med-pack; there is no auto-regen however. That along with decreased health and no spotting are the only differences.

You guys are probably fed up of me reporting on my games but i'd like to correct my earlier statement of 'i can't be a douchy gamer and do well in a game' i came to this morning in tehran highway CQ with 56 kills to 10 using mainly my M1014 and C4:D

I've been doing some thinking on what my favourite thing in this game could be and as ridiculous as it sounds it could be running. I love sprinting through the middle of a bullestorm with mortars going off all around, no idea why, all i know is its extremely enjoyable to finish a run with a jump through a smoke cloud then spray someone like it's the expenables.

Undoubtably one of the best games ever!👍

Not if my F2000 with a grip, suppresser, and Holographic sight have anything to say about it

I really dislike the F2000 for some reason. The FAMAS has insane recoil, but if you switch it to burst or single fire, you can actually take out people at pretty far ranges. It demolishes at close range (as it should) and there's nothing more satisfying than taking a guy out at long range with it. The guy is super confused when he sees that the weapon he was killed with was a FAMAS.

Im gonna have to try these guns again.

Its been forever since i used the F2k and ive never try'ed the FAMAS actually because of hatred for it IRL.

AR wise I still use my AK-74.

The FAMAS suffers from a serious lack of ability to take down multiple targets, be warned. It sprays so many rounds so fast without much accuracy and a smaller clip means you have to be incredible efficient to get it's full potential, but often other weapons are still better. The FAMAS has only one true claim to fame, if you come up 1v1 against another guy if you hit every shot you will almost always win, the F2000 and AEK do a much better job of being high fire rate assault rifles by being much more versatile whilst retaining insane short range stopping power.

I find myself generally getting frustrated with all of the above guns though in most game modes, the M416/M16 are better close range ARs to me because of the incredible reload times and more then enough accuracy, they're the true all rounders in the class. My favourite is the L85 (still, has been since I got it), you can land so many headshots just like the AK74m that it makes up for the lack of outright firepower but also thanks to a bullpup design gains the movement speed whilst ADS and hipfire bonus to make up for the low fire rate even more. That said the M416/M16 are still my go-to against good players simply due to the super fast reload, if you're finding yourself constantly in a tight spot the ~2sec reload times on those guns is so useful.

I know its personal taste, I just objected to the comment that "hardcore is the only way to play the game". Yes there are simalarities to this and aids in racing games but is that what we are talking about?

I personally use no aids in GT5, I don't think the difference is as much as bf3 and HC though. You could easily get spun out with aids or hit of the track. You could spin everything I said to racing games (I suppose) but why? We are talking about BF3 here not racing games.

And your comment about camping and smoking crack? I don't think that deserves a response,

The only challenging aspect of HC is that you can't defend yourself. You either instakill your oppo or he rips through you, there's very few exciting extended gunfights. I just don't get why people prefer it, killing times are perfectly acceptable in core and as far as I can gather thats the reason why most hardcore players play HC.

I have played both modes extensively, know how they both work and know which one I prefer.

My 2 cents on Hardcore, it's good but tends to extend the gap between player skill rather then making it harder for all. To expand, new to HC players will definately struggle more but people who only play HC will probably find 'core' harder because they're not used to using the tools available to them or gearing their loadouts one way or the other.

My racing analogy is more like, if you have a race at 400PP on GT5 most players will be able to do just fine stay on the track and have close racing, bump it up to the undoubtedly 'harder' F1/X1 and you will find a big divide occurs between the players who know how to use those cars and those that don't which makes it easier for the experienced and harder for those who aren't but the skilled players will still be fighting it out with other skilled players for the top spots all the same.

In other words HC is more different then harder to me, you have to play differently and equip yourself differently. Everyone is still given the same options, so it's not necessarily more difficult it just is for those who aren't in their comfort zone.

I don't usually have an issue with high rpm guns i have a pretty good trigger rhythm but i find the high rpm guns are a waste of bullet's because but they are good if you get ambushed and you gotta spray and pray if that's the case.
I use the AK74 because its low rpm is more stable but there's no reason it should have less knockdown than other AR's that's not really realistic.

I gotta try out other AR's because the ACR is my favorite weapon id use it for assault if i could.

And in other disscusion I only play HC
realism beats all :D
HC does expand the use of other weapons so there's a larger variety of different weapons on one map at anytime.

The story of the last two weeks for me

The end of the night ended up being a lot better. I slowed myself down dramatically and played much better. However, that better play may also be due to playing on different servers with less good tryhards. I was really enjoying not seeing all the tryhard weapons in Scavenger. Jumping back into Conquest or Rush and it is back to seeing all the tryhard weapons. Guess I just need to stick to one gun for each class and play with that all the time.

Im gonna have to try these guns again.

I do not like the F2000 or FAMAS. I find both weapons lacking compared to the AEK-971. The AEK-971 reloads faster than the FAMAS, slightly slower than the F2000, and has easier to manage recoil than both. If I want a high fire rate assault rifle, then AEK-971 is the choice.

It's easier to kill people but that goes both ways. You need to stay in cover, play more tactically with your squad, and take advantage of medics and the support class. I'm on the PC and my accuracy is perfectly fine. When I get the jump on someone and shoot them twice, center mass with a high powered rifle, that should be the end of it. They shouldn't have the chance to spin around, spray with their automatic, and kill me first with some random headshot. It shouldn't take multiple hits from a massive calibre machine gun on a tank or humvee to kill someone (made worse by lag and the crazy hitboxes). That nonsense isn't fun to me.

Lets all just play the way we enjoy playing and not try to belittle others with generalizations...

From my personal experience with hardcore mode I can say that it was much easier to gather kills but much harder to win objective based games.

Players tend to move much slower and not attack flag/mcom as often as in vanilla mode because one grenade/m320 can wipe out entire squad in nanosecond.

Overall I got impression that on smaller maps in hardcore it was usually explosive fest and on bigger maps it was M98 snipers galore sitting in bushes.

Not to mention funny people who kill you because you took heli/jet/piece of armor that they think has their name on it.

I understand why some people may like it more (I don' like realism argument though, especially not when you can revive someone who was blown to pieces by SMAW, repair everything by blowtorch, sit on funny looking green box to replenish health and bunny hop to move faster).

In vanilla I absolutely love the idea behind 3D spotting, from my point of view it is universal and international language of battlefield for people across different squads, different languages and those without headsets. It just makes game so much better.

I'm not belittling anyone, if HC is what you play then fine. I wish I could stand it because then I'd still be playing with my original group of friends. I just objected to to the "HC is the only way to play" quip that someone dropped earlier in the thread. I tend to pull no punches when expressing my opinions so appoligies if I offended anyone.

On the argument of damage?

(Forget drop off for the moment)

4 5.56 rounds = dead
3 7.62 rounds (LMGs/Semi autos)= dead
2 .308 lapua/7.62 rounds (Bolt actions) = dead

And that's not including headshots.

I see nothing wrong with the damage model except the drop off should only be about 4-5% IMO.
