Still 15 months after release BF3 is still the best shooter I ever played. Just take a look at recent free betas like Dust514 or Crysis 3 and see they don't even come close to BF3.

Those are poor examples considering they're no where near completion.

Had a few pretty awesome rounds earlier. 200 ticket server went nearly 50 kills and 10 or so deaths, with 37 of those kills under 100 tickets.

You TDM with bolt actions?

I am hopeless with sniper rifles. My aim isnt good enough to run around with a iron sight or holo and be aggressive with them and I hate sitting up on a rock trying to get 1 kill a round, whilst "PTO".

I just feel the AK maps were designed with PC in mind. Each to their own ;)

As I said, it actually works well on the Aftermath maps for some reason. I was using it in the AN-94 as a bit of a troll set up and was surprised how well it worked. Whether that is because DICE slightly adjusted it in of the recent patches I don't know.
 
Not sure what the problem was tonight, but it was impossible to use the server browser. Failed to connect messages every time.

Since the patch this week, all I can get is 3 bar servers :indiff:. Even in Australia.

On a separate note, I just broke into the top 10% for QBB-95 kills with a measly 640 odd. I guess nobody likes it much :D.

Yup, TDM on Canals is the perfect place for me. I am never camping, I always rush to get kills even when I am using sniper rifles :sly:

How long did it take to do the L96 and JNG? I never use the bolt actions when playing aggressively because, well, the DMRs are far better at it. Apart from the M98B, which is my go-to 'reach out and murdulate someone' rifle, I've only really used the bolt actions to get stars and complete achievements. I guess if/when I've mastered the semi autos (not something I'm actually aiming to do, mind you) I'll start on the bolts but until then I just can't be bothered with them.

I completely agree with your preference for the semi auto rifles. They are way more forgiving and IMO, Effective, Than the bolt actions. I got most of my bolt actions on TDM lobbies. The reason for this is the players are more concentrated and suited to "aggressive" play. On timeframe? I got the L96 and JNJ from both under 200 kills to mastery in the same day. I used the Kobra, SPB and Laser on both, And they were very effective. I would have done better with an SKS, M417 or MK11, But nothing beats linking 4-5 headshots in quick succession with a bolt action. Also considering your on PC the BA's should be a bit easier for you. 👍

You'd think so, but my first shot accuracy sucks, I only ever aim for the head when I'm sniping at long range (because it's often the only way to actually get kills) and everyone else has the same advantage too so it kind of evens out! I've never tried a bolt action in TDM though, I did do quite well the one time I decided to use the Xbow almost exclusively but that was a one hit kill. Maybe I'll give it a try but however you look at it, against someone with 100% health you're at a big disadvantage using a bolt action, anything else they could possibly be using will kill you faster than you can kill them. Unless you hit them in the face.

Yup I cannot connect to any Eastern US servers. Everything else is fine though. Weird.

Yeah but it angers me when I can't.
 
I love using the L96, but I find it impossible to use with a low-magnification scope. If you use an ACOG or something like that, the iron sights don't line up with the optic and I always get confused and end up missing.
 
The only sniper rifle iron sights I like are the Russian snipers. IIRC the NATO ones (L96, JNG-90, M98b etc) all have the same type. Also, I like the QBU-88's sights as well.

I'd rather see snipers show some guts, skill and move about instead of camping on mountain's/cranes Etc.

A sniper is mostly used to gather intel and provide cover for squadmates. In real life a sniper doesn't "camp" in one spot. Why? Well how could a sniper provide cover and Intel to allies if he stays in one place? Also, As you may have guessed, sooner or later the enemy could become aware of his presence if he does. I imagine you were talking IRL?

Well, Mostly down to the fact your squadmates have legs and can move?. How do you expect to scout out multiple locations and provide moving cover by sitting atop a single conveniently placed hill?

Because when I'm on the assault I don't really like getting hit by one shot and being dead before I can even attempt to turn around and have a chance. It really makes me mad. Granted it can happen with other weapons, like shotguns which piss me off just as equally sometimes. But when you got one or more Colonel 100s running around spamming an SKS....I rage sometimes.
