Yeah I'm talking specifically about helicopters/jets.

The problem you have since you don't use jets or heli, is you don't know there are noises for lock on, and a separate beep for when a rocket is in route of your vehicle. I will not pop flares until the missle is already on its way. Otherwise I am out of flares when the missile is chasing me because I popped them just for having someone lock on

I know that. A lot of people are either not aware of the difference or simply assume the missile will be inbound shortly after I get lock. I on the other hand will wait with lock until they pop flares.

I made a post that laid out why pilots are able to to get rid of infantry trying to shoot then down. Aside from that positioning is key to avoid getting shot down.

Last night I had a ridiculously long match on metro. I was attacking and there was 200 tickets. Long story short we got the last MCOM on the first set with tickets at zero. Than fought for another 200 tickets on the second set but lost. I ended up with like 57-27 that round. 30 kills alone with the M98B, mostly head shots. That was fun, many small firefights all over the map.

Well that was possible in BC2... choppers aren't OP. They are vulnerable to AA tanks, jets tear them apart(cannon), and infantry with a javelin can take care of them. I'm pretty sure flares do nothing for a painted target amirite?

I don't know. All I have access to is a stinger.

Keep playing engineer and you'll get it. Of course you'll need someone to paint it for you but BF is a team oriented game. Its not impossible to take out aircraft with the stinger/IGLA. For something to OP nothing should be able to take it out with ease.

I'm getting tired of always playing engineer. I would like to be able to play assault or recon. You pretty much have to play engineer if you want to win in this game and that kinda sucks.

Only on vehicle maps. But helicopters don't capture bases. Tanks and infantry do. In most cases people don't ALWAYS tank whore 24/7 but being support would be fine. Assault is alright, but on a vehicle heavy map you need to be able to interact with other enemies, because not everyone is running on foot. On OP Metro, assault is great. Recon? I'm not really sure when is a good time for recon to be honest. I find that class pretty useless except for mobile spawning, and sniping people in their base when they're spawn trapped. Otherwise maybe defending on Rush is the best time to use the class.

I feel like DICE really nerfed the Recon class. :( I think I remember in the interviews they said how it was like a pointless class or something and they'll try to keep everyone from using it, but there's no real use to it now. :( Is there even C4 for it? There's a sniper rifle, a pistol, a mobile spawn, and something else, that's it. :(

Also, maps are alot smaller than BC2, aren't they?

The mobile spawn is a great thing. Personally I use a battle rifle in place of a true sniper rifle but you can also use PDWs and rush the piss out of objectives. I think recon is a great class.

No C4 though. I believe that is available to the support class.

Sniping isn't that useless. I usually top my team when I snipe. And it's really satisfying getting a 3 for 1 kill.

Triple collateral?

And I just can't snipe well.

I have been having bad aiming problems. Should I turn my sensitivity down?

My sensitivity is waaaaay down. But that's how I've always played. And yes. Two headshots on crouched snipers and one guy trying to flee the scene.

Also the strait pull bolt is god's gift to snipers.

How many and what attachments come before straight pull bolt? I still don't have it for the sv98

I think I'm an example that that's not true...

Umm what about the TUGS? It only helps your team see enemy positions on the mini map. Very useful for both rush and conquest.

I'm not sure, but I know it will show you on Battlelog.

Hahaha funny story short, I can't use it.

It asks me for a master ID as soon as I log in and nothing works to get past that scene

Maybe like 5 or 7 unlocks? Its great though the bolt actions are already so deadly accurate, lets you acquire your next target so much faster.

BTW, I got my recon service star last night! :D

Well, they are more urban centric, unlike BC2 where you had a lot of opportunity to blend in from a distance. Apart from Kharg on attack in Rush, oportunities are pretty limited. I am disappointed, I rocked recon in BC2, but here it's the weakest class.

I would agree except bar attack helicopters you can now repair faster than they can be shot down (also true of tanks if you only have 1 person firing at it) however on Kharg Island Rush last night I saw someone total up 10,000 points pre-award with the Viper, I couldn't even get a lock from spawn (second base) as he flew backwards behind the buildings then circled over defenders spawn and destroyed everything. His first death came from me with the main cannon of the T90, the combination of flares and hiding behind the building (and stealth?) made lock on weapons useless and 50 cals weren't enough. That being said when it came to the final base with the large warehouses protecting us, the enemy team had no chance but they breezed the rest with that chopper. I'd call them fair if they either repair themself slower and engineers could only repair if landed, they're only really troublesome in Rush where they can hover over your spawn though.

As for Recon I think it's balanced just fine, the bipod or straight pull bolt both work great and you can pick off people very effectively if you position yourself well or use a semi-auto rifle for more close-mid range battles (4x scope to remove lense flare). What alot of people tend to forget is the class is called Recon, not sniper, the MAV and T-UGS are great tools for exactly that in open space you can mark up a full squad for your team and follow their movements completely to make cannon fodder for your teams mortars especially.

I haven't been using Battlelog lately. I've found a different site that my friend and I seem to like better. You have to click a button to update it after every round, but it's not that big of a deal.

www.bf3stats.com

They even give you 500 widgets that show your stats to be used in forum signatures. Although, I don't think you can do that here, but in other forums it could easily be use full.

Recon is actually pretty decent. I'm not the bet at using a sniper rifle so it may be beneficial to use a PDW. But the MAV is useful for spotting enemies and destroying their equipment, TUGS I don't really get what it does but the mobile spawn beacon is quite useful.

^ If you use a PDW on Recon do the points still count towards opening other sniper rifles? Might be a noob question, sorry if it is :p

It will help you unlock new items for the Recon kit, which includes new rifles, yes. But it will not help you unlock new add-ons for the rifle you are currently using.

This, though I do recommend unlocking the M39 (or using the other semi-auto rifles, but the M39 is solid) with a 4x as a good way to play a more aggressive Recon. The MAV is a great way for easy points to on Rush, spot as many enemies as you can and rack up the points, 30 per spotted enemy killed + 200 per ribbon and quick progress for a medal worth 10,000 although the extras aren't towards the class.
