Killing a person is pretty easy. I followed someone with the repair tool on Sharqi and just zapped em. Just use it instead of a knife.
I am hoping I can happen upon someone that lets me get that close without one of his/her teammates seeing me follow. I almost had an opportunity last night on top of a building, but the guy was looking in a direction that would have made it incredibly difficult. I ended up with a G36C kill instead.
Killing a vehicle seems more based on luck, almost too much.
The vehicle kill is going to be a nightmare.
And for me arming m-coms is as well.
At least arming M-Coms is an objective of the game and should somewhat come naturally in the flow of playing Rush. Killing with a Repair Tool is not an objective and something I really have to somewhat ignore the objective to get.
^ I killed a tank on Sharqi with the repair tool.... I must say it went pretty fast too and I had the luck that the guy inside was a bit incompetent and didnt move or anything... Before I knew it... BOOM! Bye bye tank and a kill...
I always seem to encounter competent ground vehicle users.
Just shoot a guy with your pistol a few times, change to Torch and light him up.
I think one should get a bit more points because of the increased difficulty in killing in such a way; but oh, well.
That is the biggest problem; I typically do not encounter enemy players in a favorable position to use the knife, so using the Repair Tool is going to be that much more difficult. I tried rushing a guy yesterday after using an entire magazine of ammunition from the G36C trying to get a kill, but he was able to reload and kill me before I got to him. He was at 15% health when I died, so I think the Repair Tool would have quickly finished him off.
I think a Repair Tool kill should award slightly more points since it is more difficult. The only problem with that is it might encourage a few players to run around like idiots trying to use only the Repair Tool
As for vehicle, if you can't get it regularly, maybe join a game with a friend in the opposite squad, then meet up somewhere.
It may have to come to that whenever I get my Repair Tool kill and unlock the next Assignment. I would rather not do it that way, but since DICE is forcing it, then it may have to happen that way.
On another note, I really enjoyed using the Javelin last night with the combination of a SOFLAM lasing targets. The weapon was quite effective in destroying tanks while painted and I had one double kill/vehicle destroy at a range that I believe can only be achieved while a target is painted.
I also did some helicopter piloting and gunning last night. ROAD_DOGG33J and I managed a decent streak at the start of one game. There are so many things that easily cause a lock on on a helicopter. It makes it difficult to know what is SOFLAM and what is a legitimate threat. My piloting still needs to improve, but I feel confident I am not wasting a helicopter being a pilot now. I need to improve on my situational awareness in the helicopter and do a better job at spotting threats that need to be avoided or taken out quickly.
