L96: One headshot, or three shots anywhere else, they're dead.
M98B One headshot, or two shots anywhere else, they're dead.

I hit someone in the ankle once, with my second shot, and he dropped.

The M98B is steadier for aiming, and once the straight pull bolt is unlocked, it's faster for reloading too.

The Recon class can be hard to use in all situations until you unlock the M98B, then it's fairly easy to survive and get a reasonable score.

I unlocked heat seekers for jets, and the Dirty Harry gun last time I played, which is awesome if you keep your cool and aim for the head.

I thought the MP412REX was going to behave like that until I unlocked it, and I found it quite hard to put someone down, as when you aim down sight; it fills the screen.
Luckily, the Dirty Harry gun doesn't have that problem, and when I unlock the scoped .44; I'm pretty sure that life will be even easier.

That's the one thing I just can't get my head around with Battlefield: why is everything so hard for the noob?

The more you play, the more you unlock, the more you can kill/blow up/destroy/own.
I know it makes sense from a certain point of view, in terms of rewarding the player who keeps coming back, but to try and convince a newcomer to hang in there; that keeps being killed because their weapons are underpowered, can be a very difficult thing.

I'm not arguing, but I've never had more than a two-shot kill with it.

And this is why I love the game. It takes actual skill to do well. In my opinion the weapons you get at the start are mostly on par with higher-level ones. So right out of the gate you can do well.

It's more the attachment, then weapons. The starter weapons are ok, but when you're a noob ironsighting a guy with ACOG, foregrip and suppressor, you're stuffed. I agree though, it's not often a game punishes noobs and rewards vets as much as this one.

Good games there gunny. We ran riot for a few rounds there  USAS is a laugh in CQC; it does have some recoil if you don't watch it though. The last round at Bazaar had 3 knobs spamming the mortar at us. I took 2 of them twice with return mortar, but it's difficult to countermortar when its 1 vs 3 and you're at risk of being knifed due to flags changing hands...

My personal highlight was taking a sniper out, who was camped up at on a building at US deploy at Tehran. I was under the bridge near B that has the stairs on it spanning the road; I whipped out the RPG and sent a hail mary his way. Got a flag defend bonus too! All in all, a good session though.

Just finished playing six games and only finished on the winning side in one of the games. Granted, I have not really played much Battlefield 3 lately and was a bit on the rusty side, but that in no way excuses how bad all but two of the teams I was on. The game I was on the winning side was a decent team and there was one other game that came down to a handful of tickets, but ended in a loss.

I really need to play this game more. It is such a wonderful game and is incredibly fun. I definitely need to be squad up with some GTPers though when I play, unfortunately, none of them on my friend's list are online at the moment.

Recoil on the USAS :scared:. Just aim at their feet and in two shots it will be a headshot.
The knobs on the mortars at Bazaar where causing havoc, right near the end of the round I drove the BMP around and got one of them, I think you may have got one of the others.

My favourite play of the day.
We were defending Back Streets at Seine Crossing, you and another couple of guys were near the container at the end of the short alley, I was on the first floor of the building providing covering fire. I spotted a guy below me creeping up on you guys right next to the wall which meant I couldn't get a shot on him. I jumped out the window behind him and stabbed the poor guy in the neck taking his tags. He would have had no idea where it came from.

Overall some really fun rounds mate. 👍

Cheers Shaun.

Man, I spawned on C at one stage and there literally nothing within 15 feet of the flag! No buildings, no fences, no containers, just empty floor.

You and another guy where causing havoc up on that 1st floor. I thing he was Support as he was lobbing grenades into the tunnel leading to RU deploy like it was confetti.

Also, VOIP patch on the 6th Feb apparently...

Started and completed the Co-op missions with a buddy last night. Most were quite enjoyable particularly the sniper mission. Now I'll have to try out all those guns I unlocked.

When I have been BF3 lately, I have been using the Recon kit to try and finish unlocking everything for the kit. I unlocked the M40A5 earlier today. I just finished playing three games, two of which were primarily using the M40A5, and I really like the rifle. Unlike the SV98, I do not have to deal with the horrible Russian chevron sight and can actually hit targets I am attempting to aim at. I have been pairing the M40A5 with the M1911, but I think the G17C might be a better option for a sidearm.

The best recon kit for me is M98B, 12x scope and bipod. With the M9 handgun (good power, large mag). The SV98, M40A5, L96 are great guns but only at medium range, for long range you have to point way to high up to counter the distance as with the M98B you don't, on paper it has the best range and power, in the game the power is pretty much the same but range exceeds all.

If you want to unlock all the guns quickly I can help :)

So, tonight I got all the way to straight pull bolt for the M40, and got the vehicle warfare trophy (plane camped with the helicopter though), and I still have Yet to be killed by a MAV, but I did get hit.

But the main problem was the MK3A1 frag

You lucky lad! I think it was yesterday I was being harried by one, so what do I do? Go prone.

And get MAV killed.

👎

USAS frag rounds, couple of shots = bye bye MAV ;).

Just lost connection when I was having one of my best rounds.
Tehran Hwy, managed to get a tank at the start, was 14/0 and had destroyed about 5 vehicles when lost connection.
Having a look at my stats I've just noticed that I'm now ahead on my K/D ratio. I was that bad at this game when I first started, I kid you not I was about 1100 behind at one stage :dopey:.
Not that I'd call myself good now but at least I can hold my own now on most occasions.

Cheers Shaun.

I've had most fun with the G3A3 (Assault Rifle) and 93R which is a semi-auto pistol. It's my sidearm in all 4 classes, having switched to it on my sniper class. Played about with the .44 Magnum, but if I run in to a building with my Recon class and come face to face, I stand much more of a chance with the 93R than try and fire off two successful shots with the Magnum. Not great for stealth, but I don't think you can be that stealthy in non-Hardcore, cos of killcams and what not. Besides, I can't do long range sniping (longest headshot is still only 228m), so tend to be close covering, sort of like LMG, really.

574.12m *cough*:sly:

I've had a few hit markers at probably 400m, but never in the head! Much prefer stealth flag captures, until 2 tanks and 5 guys with RPGs turn up and your Recon guy's camo turns brown.

It's amazing seeing all those people with Jet mastery dog tags just reminds me of how good they are. They must spend at least 24 hours a day to get those kind of dog tags.

I got mastery a few weeks ago. Now I'm working on the Helicopter mastery.

I to have jet mastery.

Some good killings with VEXD in choppers earlier, real mixed bag though, our best round in the chopper (I went about 23-5, at one point they had both choppers, then they got taken down and once we were up we were there for rest of the match) was in a losing battle, we somehow lost by 120 tickets! 3 air warfare ribbons today though. Mixed bag of games.

Don't mean to brag but that's only my recorded one, longest was roughly 850 - 900 but i got disconnected from the game so it didn't save :(

Unlucky :( What was the scenario?

Unlucky :( What was the scenario?

It was kinda inevitable that i get disconnected because the signal wasn't great and all the other lobbies where conquest assault, it was on gulf of oman, i was on US team, spawned it chopper, then jumped out and layed down. Saw someone in the half built building at the very back, fired once, missed, moved sight up a bit, shot, got him.

Jumped in a chopper, starting lagging and boom, kicked.
