Two highlights for me with the mic were.

It definitely made it a) more enjoyable and b) more effective. No worries on your sailor friend (:D). I also tend to 'speak fruitfully' when I get knifed or killed unexpectedly.

I'm looking into getting getting headphones, this pair look interesting to 'get into the mood':

Nice games Patrick. I had a nightmare at Karkand (hateful map). Rubber bullets, but mainly I just sucked hard there. Oman was great though, stole their IFV three times :D.

I've got the Playstation Stereo Headset and it works a charm. $178 NZ tho :indiff:

For less than that I got my Tritton AX720 headset. To me, totally worth it. But I know different people have different preferences/needs in a mic.

And rxp and I have been having some great games these past couple of days. Today's helicopter massacre on Sharki was awesome. Probably some of my best flying, but I still felt more confident as the gunner.

Those were great games especially the two on Gulf. We didn't lose a single match. 👍

@ Waffles and Pat
HOLY 🤬! I MAV'd onto that tall building and fell/glitched through to the lower floor. That's a perfect cubby hole. Honestly, I had four or five enemy snipers trying to get me. Even a SMAW to the face didn't kill me

Turtle Beach P11 👍

First off: I have no real first-hand experience with using one of these, so I cannot vouch for the sound quality.

I have, however seen them up close and (with my money) I would not buy them. They just seemed *too* lightweight to the point of being flimsy. I'd be too afraid of pulling the thing apart when taking it off my head. And a buddy of mine said that Turtle Beaches have had problems with wiring down the line.

I am just another opinion, though. Always read up plenty on purchases like this where there are no shortages for available alternatives.

The rail across the top is very thin and made of plastic. It bends, it flexes. The points where it connects to the ear-cups seem like the plastic could break without too much force. And accidents happen, so I tend to prefer a more solid headset. I went through two pairs of "bendy" headsets like that (meaning the cups start out together and then flex out when you wear them) in one year because the plastic cracked. This was a different brand, but I've stayed away from that design and the pair I've had since then doesn't have a scratch on it.

Good games tonight to everyone who played. 👍 I got a lot of stuff today. Got the PDW medal and the M39 EMR, RPG, SMAW, M1014 and VS VAL service stars.

Mike, Ive been looking for headsets as well. Skype works great but I want to be able to talk to you guys and others, rather than just my mate.

I have quite a complicated audio setup though, so Im wondering if someone else with a bit more knowledge can help me out. Currently, I have an HDMI going from my PS3 to my monitor, my monitor however, does not have built in speakers, so the sound goes from a 3.5mm jack to a red/white RCA cable, into a surround sound unit, which is then output through my speakers in stereo. I typically wear a headset anyway, which comes out of a jack on one of the speakers, and wear iPhone headphones underneath so that I can use skype also. Do you think that the piggyback jack would work through this method?

EDIT: I just had a thought, would it work if I just put the green plug into the back of the monitor? It only carries sound, and the USB carries the voice, is that right? that will most likely be a lot easier than my other method. Then I can just use a splitter for when I play games that I dont need it for. Sometimes I even amaze myself

I already have quite an expensive pair of headphones already (Sennheiser HD598s) cant really justify $180NZ for a pair of the Sonys which will only be used for gaming.

Just tried the headset; two thumbs up. Heck, it's a richer sound experience then I was getting out the TV! Got a fright a few times too when unseen grenades went off .

Couldn't try the mic though, this time round.

What do you do if you're involved in a large scale fight between tanks and land troops. Do you try and gun it out, or hide like a frightened cat. I always hide but I feel like I'm not helping my team enough.

Well I tried out Slugs on my 870 this morning (with Sureshot) with some interesting results. You can get some really ridiculous kills with them, well over 100m at points but then other times it's totally inconsistent and frustrating. Overall pretty pointless, nowhere near competitive against most weapons which means I'll stick to buckshot, or testing flechette currently which seems like it might be a good alternative to buck.

I tried the Infra Red (1x) scope at Damavand. Be useful if it showed up heat signatures...

Some decent rounds for me, the tank at Canals is just so overpowered, a shame people didn't use their SOFLAM to target the choppers more...*cough* ;)

Quite a few kills with the M40 too, just trying to get used to using a suppressor (I don't normally use one), but as I'm trying to actively be closer to the battle as a sniper, using ACOG, it's very useful. Just getting used to the more pronounced bullet drop.

JET CRASH!

Epic jet crash indeed.

If you want to get more up close and personal the M39 is an awesome weapon for the kit and accepts the silencer nicely but does reduce it's long range sniping effectiveness but on a map like Damavand for example you don't really need super long range, though I was using my 870 on my Recon for our games .

On Canals I had my SOFLAM set up looking right in to the mouth of the carrier so everyone would be notified when a tank was leaving, someone was already marking the choppers at the start of the game and by the time that had stopped I'd have felt guilty for not giving the other team some hope (plus I'd have to have ran a mile as my SOFLAM was covered :sly:).

If I'm engineer, I blow that **** up.

If I'm support I make a suicide attempt at trying to blow it up.

Assault or recon.. RUN FOR IT. You're helping your team much less if you get killed! Better to hide and stay alive..

I normally play as assault, thanks for the advice.

Oh, I should add, if you do see a tank and you're an assault, make sure you spot it. It makes everyone's life easier. 👍

I was getting my butt kicked last night with some one using that gun with frag rounds. We were in METRO at B and we were on opposite sides :grumpy:

Spot as in using the select button when you see a enemy, I do that a lot, and then end up getting spot assists.

I also bought the TB P11's this week.

Mine come with a USB for voice, a grey 3.5mm for sound and some splitter cables that require you to use the original red/white/yellow from your PS3's dusty old box in the attic/loft.

You are supposed to rig them up by putting the old splitter in the back of the PS3, then attach the red and white phono's to the ones TB supplied, which piggy back and then go on to fit into the back of your TV, to SUPPLY the sound. The yellow one is redundant, of course; this being for video, and you already have an HDMI for that.
You then take the grey 3.5mm which is straight from your TB's, but alongside your USB, and you add it to the piggy back red/white phono to TV connection, which has a grey female 3.5mm for the sound to be transferred from your PS3, via your TV, to your TB's.
Then you plug the USB in for Mic, set up the PS3 to do "Multi-out" for audio, and they work.
I discovered that I could pull the old splitter out of the PS3, pull the piggy bax out of the TV, attach the USB to the PS3 for Mic in, and stuck the Grey 3.5mm into my TV's headphone socket, for sound.
Then I reset the PS3's audio to HDMI, and that's what I use.
Thing is, the cable that comes from the TB's themselves, is long, but where it splits between USB and 3.5mm Grey, is only about 8-10 inches.
Provided your monitor has a 3.5mm socket that is 8-10 inches away from the USB on your PS3, you can do what I've done, and use HDMI to transfer your sound.
If you have a female to male 3.5mm extension, that will no longer be an issue.
If you don't have this option, you will need to do as TB have instructed, which ultimately means loads of wires everywhere, and a complicated setup, alongside the PS3 needing to be set to multi-out also.

Good god I need a lie down.......

:irked:👍

So Sureshot, VEXD and Icehawk, it was fun squadding up, but not fun rounds. At. All. 10 straight losses, mostly being beaten back to deploy. It was very much a case of the magic:

The magic SMAW: Icehawk joined in at Sharqi, we jumped in a tank and set off, running into another tank. They got the first strike, which is usually a recipe for our demise. Seeing this, I hopped out and thought "if I can land a RPG, the tables will turn". So I jumped out and landed one, but he continued on firing, so I reloaded and scampered around the his rear. And there it was, an unguarded rump of an enemy tank, me with a loaded SMAW; I could already see the double kill blue text coming up. So I fired. And nothing happened. So I fired again and again. The tried to reload, but it wouldn't. Then the tank guy jumped out and killed me.

The magic Javelin: Anticipating a slaughter at Canals, VEXD popped out the SOFLAM, which I got to leverage off once. Then later in the round when the slaughter was kicking into full swing, I was at B when a laser designated Little Bird appeared, as if a gift from DICE, hovering right about B, me, hiding in amongst the warehouse at B. So I whip out the Jav and fire....nothing. Fire, fire, fire, fire. Nothing. So he flies off and circles back, whereupon Mr Jav decides it is now ok to fire, but then Mr Pilot flares and that confuses my Jav, which misses completely. By then a AAV has pitched up and kills me.

The magic Support guy: Seine, we're scrapping to consolidate flags. I scamper down to A and start taking it. I hide in that room next to the white van. I'm alone, this is good. Then I'm knifed, somehow by a guy who appears next to me. Which is odd, as the room was clear when I got there and the only entry point I was covering. Even better, a friendly tank rolls by and doesn't see him, so he picks up an easy tank kill too.

The magic AK74u: Firestorm, we're struggling 2 flags down. I make my way to B, and start capturing the flag. I hide upstairs where I can cover the stairs leading up to me and the north door. An enemy appears and the flag capture stops. I spot him below but I don't have a clean shot. I know he will check upstairs now, so I ready for him. I have a USAS too, this will be childsplay. So he comes up the stairs and I lay it on thick and tasty with a first strike. And die. Turns out the AK is more deadly in CQC. Who knew.

Yeah man, sorry for leaving so soon. I ended up with 6 straight losses and I was fed up with it. In the last game I played before joining you my team had no idea what the word "objective" meant. See, I have no problem at all losing a hard fought match. What I absolutely can't stand is fighting my heart out in a losing effort because nobody tries to fight out of a hole (especially when we are in said hole because they didn't come out fighting in the first place).
