That's what I've heard. They have the Ultimate Edition at Gamestop for $40 (I don't know if that price is just online, though), and I have a $21 gift card. I'm not exactly sure what all it includes, but I'm sure it's a start.

I'd like to know about the Vietnam DLC, too. Apparently, it's good enough to be a stand-alone game. That's what IGN said, so that statement could be questionable.

Yeah it's in store. I was just there today to buy a PSN card and it was 40 bucks. Includes VIP code, Onslaught (useless) and Battlefield 1943 which was the best selling downloadable online only game.

Veitnam is great, and in this day in gaming I guess it could be a stand alone game. A VERY lackluster standalone but it's fun none-the-less. I spent 15 bucks on 1943 when I first got my PS3 and it was one of the best investments gaming wise I have purchased, so I knew with my favorite FPS I would pick up this new expansion too.
 
Awesome. I shall be buying it then. If their website is correct, they should be opening at 9am, which is an less than an hour from now in my time zone. I'm pressed for time, because I need to get to bed! :yuck:

Which will be delayed, obviously. Whatever :D
 
I was gonna goto bed at like 5.. then I got Vietnam.. and I just didn't sleep at all
 
I was going to go to sleep at 7am when I got home from work.. Then I got all hopped-up on buying the game.

Now I just got back.. and I'm playing :rolleyes:

Downloaded Vietnam, and I am impressed with the expansion. I was bummed yesterday since they were having issues with the servers and I could only play as a level 1 Private. I should have played GT5 but didn't know that Ver 1.05 allows you to save and transfer your game data now? I bought a 3rd PS3 with the Move this week (My 60Gb YLOD for the 13th time), I was going to do a transfer data from the old 60GB Fatty so I could play GT5 on it until I read about the update in GTP news! I did reflow the Fatty which is why I now have 3 working PS3's and Psycho_Sally, ajwilli1, and myself can now play BBC2 at the same time online! See ya'll on the Battlefield..and Track!

I've had problems pretty much every single match - I rarely have my 'perk' things, sometimes i'll finish with 0 kills and -125 points regardless of what i've actually done in the game, I also loose all my stats as a result too. :grumpy:

However i'm still enjoying the pack, it feels like the lovechild of BF1943 and BC2 which is something i've been wanting for a long time. If you get a decent session (ie. not loads of level 50 clan players) you can have some amazing battles.👍
 
I have been playing every now and then and it seems like I'll be lucky to get in with all my stats. In fact every time I've played Vietnam I don't have any stats when I start. It's pretty fun but I think it needs some more variety

I was looking at the leaderboards because I freaked when I saw I didn't have any stats. The leaderboards still show your current rank, I noticed that you were like #56 and had >1440hrs logged. I laughed when I read you have been playing every now and then. :lol:

My wife has been checking on the server status throughout the day, They had all their stats back and then would get bumped from the game and lose them. Hope they get it fixed soon! I will be on this weekend for sure, and try to get some wheel time on GT5 also.

Lol I haven't honestly played that much since GT5 came out. And I'm still surprised I'm rank 56 considering I was up to 36 two months ago and have hardly played. I used to play religiously from release to November though

I haven't played much either, I just came back from East Texas visiting Family and Deer Hunting. In Fact Tommi was on yesterday playing online with my son while I was processing the Doe I shot last Saturday night. I am going to get GT5 loaded up on the new Slim along with the game save data from the old Fatty tonight. Will be ready this weekend for some Vietnam and GT5 for sure. I have yet to go online with GT5 as I am trying to rank up in both A/B Spec first. :cheers:
 
Finally got on the servers last night with all unlocks and ranking. Psycho_Sally, ajwilli1, Mr_Geez, and I had some great rounds on Vietnam. I guess they unlocked the Hasting's map because we got to play it although the PS3 community has not yet met the challenge to unlock the map. The PC community is the only one to have unlocked this map. It is a large map, biggest of the Vietnam maps and has four flags in conquest. The map utilizes UH-1 Hueys, tanks, boats, jeeps, or just about everything you can get your hands on. Unfortunately they are still having issues with the ranking system on their servers.
 
Yeah I seen Battlefield posted something on Facebook about happy new year so maybe they released the map early? I'm not sure. It's fun though. Overall Vietnam is pissing me off. Maybe it's just hardcore. But people camp harder, and spray the clouds in hopes of killing me and I always get killed by the dumbest ****. One shot from the M1911 from across the map. Kids SOMEHOW killing me with guns that take 50 shots to the body and apparently 2 to the head ??

Shame that my only experience with the game was months ago when it came out and I have forgotten how to play. I dont really understand how the game modes work either, I have trouble working out what the numbers for the objectives mean (attacking and defending numbers). What are they?

The numbers = tickets, essentially how many 'lives' each team has. On Rush the attackers have limited lives, each deaths reduces the number by 1 and each revive gives that ticket back, defenders are unlimited. On Conquest each team has a specific amount each, hold more flags and enemy tickets go down quicker, hold even and only kills count, and if the enemy holds more your tickets steadily drop.

Oh and change audio settings to War Tapes (WOAR TAYPEZ!!!) Legendary, it may be a bit distracting with all the effects but it is awesome. Basically turns everything up to 11.

Attackers win if they get all the bases (MCOMs), defenders win if they manage to get attackers tickets to zero. Oh and you don't need War Tapes to do well, you need to experience all the top notch sound design to it's fullest. Feel free to turn it down if you're in try hard mode, but once I turned it on once the experience just got that little bit better. Immersion is what makes me love BC2, war tapes just adds another element to it.

Got Vietnam yesterday and D/Led the HUGE update... Took freaking long!! So I think I'll play a couple matches tonight to see how Vietnam is... :) Havent shot any virtual soldiers in ages now.. :p

As for Vietnam, still not sure whether or not I'll end up buying it simply because I don't play much BC2 anymore so I'm not sure it will make me play more. I mainly don't play cus playing alone sucks, but most of my friends with BC2 didn't used to play much before GT5 came out so it seems unlikely they'll play more now :lol:.

I've been kind of bored with GT5 so I've been getting on every now and then. Vietnam is making me rage more than usual too.
 
It is boring by ones self I have noticed as well :). I would be willing to play as I am little bit over GT5 atm.

:lol: Trust me Drag its HUGE!!!! and takes forever... When I saw the update initially I didnt realise it was so big. So I just clicked yes and came back after 15 min only to see it was almost 2GBs and was going to take 137 minutes... So I didnt get around to playing any BF last night because my PS3 was downloading all evening...
 
Took me 4 hours :rolleyes:. My internet is dreadful....
 
Well the reason the update is so big is to prep the game for Vietnam AND the 4 brand new maps they released for normal BFBC2

Yup Blitz , some good rounds yesterday :)

It was crazy on Operation Hastings Rush when I spawned on you just as you were about to die near the bomb site and took out 6 people with one long burst of my RPK then revived you and we took care of the incoming enemies who wanted to defuse the bomb. Good stuff.

We played with Mr_Geez the other night and had a great time or at least until everyone literally started dying out and quitting the game. Operation Hastings is an awesome map, not to mention it's size. My favorite is Vantage Point, smallest of the maps but whoever owns "B" owns the map! Hill 137 "Hamburger Hill" is another favorite and truly a snipers haven. After a bit of grinding on GT5, nothing like taking out a few noobs with a flame thrower! 👍

Blitz, Check out Map Pack 7 the new maps are awesome. Oasis is fun and is like Arica Harbor just smaller and finding trouble doen't take long at all. Harvest is a relatively large map and one of my favorites out of them all. Heavy Metal is the largest of all the maps and was from the campaign, it's brutal with all the heli's in the air.

The Vip Map Pack 7 brought some great maps , especially since I'm mostly Rush player (I don't like running from base to base that much in conquest), I have to say Harvest Day and Oasis are absolutely great maps. Good balance , not too many bottle neck points, a few nice flanking roads to the target.

In Vietnam Expansion I like all the maps, but you need a good team to take out first base , point B bomb site at Vantage Point. Without some coordinated attacks it can quickly turn into bloodbath (which I don't mind when I'm defending ;) ).

I forgot about Rush! you have to have a good squad to play Rush. Well since there are 3 of us under one roof then I guess we can create our own squad. :cheers:
 
I got this game over christmas, enjoyed it more than Modern Warfare 2, especially the single player and its definitely up there with some of my favourite shooters. Still not found anything i enjoy more than Crysis though.
