Belgian Cops Catch a Supersonic Opel Astra (Well, Sort Of)

SUPERSONIC and OPEL ASTRA are words that don't go together, ever.
It may amuse you to learn that the Vauxhall Astra holds several UK land speed records.

And no, I'm not making that up.

Isn't there an Astra that's the fastest road-legal drag car?

You might be thinking of Red Victor 3, which is a Victor.

No, the regular Astra - specifically the two-litre diesel - holds a bunch of UK endurance speed records.

What, did someone feed the computer a video of the Tomahawk X with the Astra's license plate on it?
It's a drivetrain swap. Next up, the owner of this Astra is going to make an Opel Insignia swapped with the laser propulsion system from the Chaparral 2X.

"It’s rather funny the police department didn’t catch this mistake."

As a Belgian I'm not surprised at all...
I was actually wondering not so long ago how long it would take before this would happen, since they recently changed to a more automated way of filing these tickets. If the process is: "let the computer do the work", that's what they do, no matter how ridiculous the result is.
