Besides rarity, why is the Ford GT No Stripe so special?

What difference is there between it and the other versions? I always see No stripe this and that, when the normal GT would do too. Or am I missing something?

There might be some difference in performance. I think I have read somewhere that it has different aerodynamic performance, and that this was the case already in GT4. Not sure though.

When you say Rarity in a title, as a Brony yourself you should realize what fellow Bronies will think. Why is a post about MLP here? :p

But, I think PP is the same.

Lol, I realized that 3 seconds after I posted.

I don't know the specific reason for this, but the No stripe is faster than every other roadgoing version of the GT. I like driving it a lot just because it's better than the others, and I have two of them. Maybe the Racing stripes hold the others down?

The PP's aren't they same; my No Stripe is slightly higher - maybe because my Premium and other ones haven't fully broken in?

I've heard that its faster because it has older physics, allowing it to go faster than the one modelled for GT5 (though this isn't fact, I just read on another thread).

But I do believe personally No Stripe pulls harder and is faster.

I like them all. For some races my 02 does better than the no stripe. For longer races I just use the premium because it can be replaced easily.

That's what I heard too.

No doubt about it.

Be aware that when you buy this car from the Used Car Dealership, it will have a different break-in status every time it appears. If it has less miles on it, then it is more likely to have a higher PP level and less permanent BHP loss.

i cant remember right, it might be a prize car for golding one of the licence categories.

the no stripe is my fave ford gt. Quicker, easier to control/drift and a bit more forgiving than the other GTs. Awesome at nordburgring.

But in my opinion, stripes suit the GT better. And is it a little unrealistic that quite literally the way your car looks affects it's performance?

This does not explain why the No Stripe would be faster than the striped GT '05, which was also modeled for GT4 and is a standard car in GT5.

This. If you are comparing the Ford GT (No Stripe), to a premium Ford GT (stripes or not), then obviously you're going to have a noticeable difference in general performance because the premium model has different driving physics. If you compare it to another Standard Ford GT then they will have similar performances since they were both imported from GT4.

I know, it was on another thread, I'm pretty sure there's actually a similar thread to this regarding the Ford GT, or maybe Top Speed of Cars. Can't remember which. It seems logical reason for the standard to be faster than the premium but as you correctly point out the Striped '05 should also be just as fast.

I would expect the one with racing stripes would be faster because the racing stripes would give you like, what, 50 extra horsepower at the wheel? :dopey:
I guess not. :scared:

As someone said above, premiums and standards are slightly different in performance and it's true across many brands in models that should be nearly identical.

So what you're saying is, painting two white stripes on your real car will make it faster? I don't think so.

EDIT:

It's surprising that a standard GT with stripes has different performance to a GT without stripes when all PD had to do was copy and paste (delete if they did the striped model first).

It's called a joke/ sarcasm. Although I'm not sure if you're joking with him since this is the internet.

OK, I did some straight line tests and here's what came up. All tested with no assists and Sport soft tires.

I have nothing to say to this but;

Hey Turtle! Thanks for all this info, good thing someone actually has statistics to back their facts. 👍

One request; can you do these results again but running fully modified cars as a lot of online (including me) max out their cars to obtain max potential from the cars.
This will probably show the same results, or maybe totally different and eliminate all doubts and myths.

I would do it, but unfortunately I'm currently running an endurance race.

It is a direct port from GT4, it's physics weren't updated like the rest during the port, hence why it is faster and better than the rest.

We've established this, but it leaves us with the question as to why the other standard striped isn't as fast?

He just answered your question. PD screwed up. The No Stripe didn't get a physics re-do when they ported it.

Yeah, neither did the '05 Yes Stripe. If you look at Turtle's results you can see the premium and '02 models are very close and the two '05s are very close also, though the No Stripe is very slightly faster all round, but by an almost negligible margin. I wonder what would happen if you compared the averages of five or more runs.

In short, I think Turtle proved that the No and Yes stripes of the same year are so close in terms of performance that they're the same, while the premium has more realistic physics and the older car is just older. This doesn't bring handling into account but I wouldn't expect much difference there. Maybe someone could do five laps of Tsukuba in each and compare the averages... I would, but I'm trying to sleep. Not trying too hard, clearly.

I just said why in my post. That car's physics were updated and the no stripes weren't.

Maybe, I can try to find time to do it tomorrow, but I can't promise you that I can. Any specific tires?

I have actually done this in real life. We took my friend's Rover and used masking tape to give it stripes, NOS stickers and bbs wheels and it looked faster when we took it on the bypass....

That's nothing to do with the stripes or the BBS thing IMO.
It's just the NOS stickers that made the Rover faster.

Oh man, I thought stripes would work like stickers :dopey:

Typical American statistics, LOL cars do go round corners you know. The 05 no stripe is better for that very reason, it corners better than the others. Also it isnt rare its an easy win prize car Licence 1A.

grips better off the line too
