Best All-Around Car In GT4?

I think that there a lot of very fast, simple-to-drive cars in GT4. The M3 GTR, road or race car, was awesome. I continue to be amazed at the downforce of the GT-One. And, I was pleasently surprised at the Amuse Carbon R. Oh yeah. My personal favorite for best road car is the Nissan R390 Road Car. When given downforce, a powerful turbo kit, and racing tires, it is a force to be reckoned with.

Old Man
Although I had a brief fling with the AUDI R8, my favorite GT4 car was also my favorite GT3 car; namely, the MAZDA 787B. I prefer the original orange and green paint job to black. I know there are faster cars, but it is the racing car I drive best. I think I like driving it because it does not typically dominate a competitive field unless it is driven well.

My theory is it is a favorite among the Japanese at PD, as the 787B is the only Japanese manufacturer to date to win LeMans, so they made it extra-special. 👍

I drove the 787B throughout GT3 and GT4. I was doing Gran Turismo All Stars with it, and I just got so fed up with this car. I have a late-braking driving style, and the brakes ont his car are pretty crummy. What I did was change over to the Jaguar car, found the power delivery so much more tangible, the ride a lot smoother (especially at high speeds), the brakes were a ton better, and in general the car was a lot funner to drive. I really don't think I'll be able to go back to the 787B, and I've driven thousands and thousands of miles in that car...

Yes, it was the only Japanese car to win Le Mans, but that is only because the Mercedes Sauber in first place had engine failure near the end of the race.

Hi folks :)

With over 700 cars to choose from in GT4, there's a lot of great cars... and a lot of cars that are middle of the road (no pun intended :D).

What this topic is going to try to do is find out, which (in your opinion) is the best ALL AROUND car in GT4... not just fastest, or best handling, but best all around...

There are two categories for you to choose from here;

1) STOCK or UNTUNED cars (ie driven as you bought/won them)

2) TUNED cars (ie with some/all the mods on)

You can vote for either, or both, as suits your mood :)

----------------------

So, what do I mean by "all-around" car?

Well here's a few ideas of what might make for you a great all around car, to get you started... I don't support/condone ANY of these, BTW, they're simply ideas to get you thinking of what YOU think makes a car, truly great.

a) Acceleration.
b) Power-to-weight ratio.
c) Handling and/or smoothness of ride.
d) Cornering and/or drifting.
e) Fuel economy
f) Top speed
g) Straightline and cornering stability at maximum speed.
h) High speed manoeuvres (overtaking, direction changes, cornering etc)
i) Looks (good OR bad if you like ugly cars!)
j) Excitement (ie do you fall asleep driving it, or don't you dare blink..?)
k) The X-factor (it has that certain something, you just can't describe...)
l) Tyre wear
m) SOP driving (ie does the car encourage you to drive by the seat of your pants, or dst scare you to death about driving it, before the race has even started..?)

Have fun - but remember, it's ONE car per category... not 50!

B4N - FTB.

None sice the best performing road car can't rally and can't enter a lot of the events. The best performer is the Formula GT, the best rally car is probably the Escudo if controled well. The best Kei car is the Cappucino, the best Hot hatch is probably that tuned Golf. The best FR road car is the TVR Cerbera Speed 12, the Best MR road car is probably the R390. The best DTM car is probably the Abt TT, the best 4wd car is probably the ZZ-II and the list goes on. The Formula GT can't enter races the other best cars can, there can be a best car for each series, but not overall.

For pure enjoyment when I want to just drive, I choose the NSX or the NSX-R. Perfect balance, quick, sounds great, looks great, and it's a Honda. I find the GT's and the Le Mans cars a bit too similar in speed and feel, whereas with the NSX it's got the right balance of control and speed.

When it comes to races though, I don't really choose a favourite as such, just the right car that I enjoy and will also give me a bit of a challenge. You need to make your own, sadly.

I'd say the Opera S2000 and the BMW M3 GTR. They can beat cars that are a lot more powerful than they are because of their great handling (and power for the M3.)

There is so many that have great overall abilities, but if I had to choose a brandname, it will be BMW for the 2002 turbo, the M3, M3 CSL, M3 GTR and M5... :)

I'll go with the BMW M3's - particularly the CSL. :)

I think it defines the best all round car. Great acceleration, handling and braking, looks great, very rewarding when driven hard, yet not difficult to drive at the limit. What makes it better is it's not an astronomically priced supercar, with 500hp+, yet it can beat many of those cars when driven well. It's got a great sound, looks stunning, and in real life, can win at the track on Sunday, and take you to work on Monday!

Not to good in terms of top speed and tire wear, but for tracks that don't have long straights, the f1 is the best by miles

It grips if you want it to. It drifts if you want it to. Drive it as smooth as silk, or throw it in corners, it never fails to impress. It has perfectly predictable understeer and oversteer; soo beautifully balanced around any corner, with no stability issues, even with a large turbo in the front. Good on tyres being FR, and doesn't drink fuel like a Yank-tank - easily does 2 sets of tyres for a tank of petrol. Accelerates well with a decent top speed, this high-revving motor has one of the best exhaust notes GT4 has to offer. An absolute joy to drive - never twitchy, but never dull, totally confidence inspiring, and a great way to get 200 A-spec points in a variety of races, which this car can do in its many forms of tune. Turbo or NA, or completely stock, this car is great on any track, at any time.

It is the Amuse S2000 R1.

(I almost want to say "Suzuki GSX-R/4", which is a hair's breadth behind this car in terms of greatness)

Mercedes 2.5 Evo II: So very tossable. Revvy, (relatively) light and fairly fast top end speed for street cars.
Mazda RX-7 LM car: Far better looking than RX-8 LM car, high tire durability, good handling, pretty good acceleration wise, faster than most JGTC cars. Best all round race car.

havent driven a lot of the cars, but so far am impressed by;

nismo 350z aero - only 450hp but turns out good lap times and nicely balanced

suzuki gsx-r4 - a bit of a mighty mouse, and what about those brakes...

audi r8 - of course... but once you dial in the suspension and downforce, is easy to produce good consistant lap times - just the ticket for the big enduros

am keen to check out some of the m3 bimmers...

wont forget to see what we can do with an s2000 and a nsx-r either

you know, ND is gunna come in here and say something along thelines of "this thread had the potential to be great till all the one word replies came started"..... and I would have to agree.

cudos to the thread starter for making this. boo to those who named a car without explanation. :p

The Amuse S2000 GT1 is insanely fun imo, one of the most fun to drive around Citta and the best S2000 by far.

I would say the Fiat 500 because that is, overall, very round. :sly: I could say one of the Beetles but I just can't bring myself to give any VW an award for anything so I discounted them on the premise that they are more semicircular than fully round.

The Ginetta also scores highly because it's round all over the place.

I love the way those cars handle, second hand cars I mean, always a bit slower bodyroll wicch I like, it seems very smooth. Also, it's the first car since months that I tuned PERFECTLY now, without a freakin HUGE turbo or something, it has great accel, but still not as good top speed at reasonable straights, a merc-mclaren can still outrun it. But on replays, against a merc-mclaren, it seems to be even, TILL THE CORNERS COME, I go 3 times as fast through the corners then the merc, and thats like: WE START EVEN AT BEGINNING OF CORNER, I COME OUT, AND THE MERC STILL HAS 2/3s LEFT OF THE CORNER TO GO THROUGH!!
I love it:tup::drool:

corvette zo6 and M3 CSL are my two favorites so far.
both have > 1000 miles on the clock

I totally agree!
The BMW M3 CSL is also a great car with perfect balance, power and handling.

Well I cant just pick one...

( basic car/tuned) Nismo ZZtune 350z- It just feels really well balanced, pretty fast, and isnt too moody when you get it sideways.

( rallycar) Evolution super rally car- For my driving style, once I got it tuned just right it really worked well and made the extreme conditions races challanging yet beatable.

(muscle car) Super bee 426- With a good set of tires it really handles better that you would think.

( Racecar) Bentley speed 8 - It just does what I want.

Of course you may disagree with my choices, but these are my opinions, that fit my particular driving style.
