Best car for $600 USD?

I would say a 82-85 supra hatch, but i don't know the kinds of kinks those cars had. Hmmm, maybe an old truck or a tercel. Give your opinion!!!
 
:odd: are you kidding me $600? do you expect it to be running or like the supra in Fast and Furious that they had to rebuild completely??

That car will go forever. My friends Festiva has like 200 plus thousand miles on it, he beats the **** out of it, does burnouts everywhere, slams the **** out of the tranny, the rear floor is rusted out clear to the ground, the exaust fumes come in the car, its cold in the winter cuz the hole is so big, it hasnt had an oil change in like a year... but the damn thing still runs like a champ.. best car Ford ever made :D

even tho its an OLD supra 600 dollar wont get you a OLD supra that runs.
 
It doesnt even show a pic of the car!

I remember once a guy put his crashed supra on ebay for like 400$ so it could be a trap.

About a year ago I picked up a 93 Chevy S10 Blazer for 600 bucks. Ran well.... high mileage for a Chevy but had power windows, leater seats, CD player. Thing did its job for 600 bills. Took a whole bunch of urban 4 wheeling lol. Its all about finding people in need of money and pouncing on that fact.
 
I picked up My '82 BMW 528e for 300 bux, and it runs and drives. It even has a lowering kit by Eibach and powerslot rotors. Not to mention the M3 LSD rear diff. It's only got 150k on it to.
 
For the sub-$1000 range, you can't pick a specific model. It's going to be totally dependent on the individual car and what kind of shape it's in.

For the record, I had an '82 Supra. I don't recommend one. Boatloads of torque, but it handled for crap (the rear end skittered around like it was wearing tap shoes) and it ate headgaskets like chewing gum. It was the worst-engineered thing I've worked on in many years. It was easier to actually change the engine than it was to get the head off. The transmission was stiff as a board any time the temperature went below 40 gegrees F. I drove it for most of a year with very little back brakes, because it was impossible to disassemble them without a cutting torch. Considering it had 4-wheel disks, that's outright pathetic. Changing pads on a set of disk brakes should be a 15-minute job. Coincidentally, I sold it for $500 because the tags/inspection were valid for another 18 months despite all its problems.

I'll second, however, the suggestion of a Fox-body Mustang. In addition to a cheap purchase cost, junkyards are awash in the things which means you can upgrade/repair them for peanuts if you don't mind spending time scouting the salvage yards.
 
^ yea, the fox-body 'stangs are awesome - just don't crap them up like some of what I've seen - gold rims, HUGE radials, etc.
 
Damaged Silvia in Japan with stripped interior, missing tail lights, smashed window(s), and a smashed front bumper. (frame perfect though)
 
I remember a few years ago my dad bought an '87 Celica or something for like $400, he did do a few repairs it needed (which I can't recall at the time) but it cost him under $200 so it still fits in your budget, then again it was some time ago, prices must be up (even for used cars)
