best muscle car

My favourite is the Mercury Cougar, just because it looks so funky! :D
But it's probably the least competitive among muscle car type classic cars! Even though I think it handles better than some of the other boats.
The cougar is my fav as well. I used to own an '87 so I've always had a sweet spot for them. In the game, it has skinnier tires so it doesn't corner as well. Online at the 500pp level it can be competitive in a straight line with other muscle cars but the lack of grip in corners is noticable as it understeers when you try to follow the lines of a Camaro.

When you RM any cars, the upgrades you already have installed are removed, but they are still in your garage. Go back into your RM Camaro's tuning garage and just re-equip them
Edit: this was meant for Socal's question, didn't realize I was on page one

Thx for update. I haven't used it in so long now I haven't driven it. It was a beast pre-RM though.

RM the Z28 first & then buy your mods. Mine is close to 600 HP(just off the top of my head) & you can beat the Chapparel 2J in American Challenge with it. Great car & looks really cool with the NASCAR style steel wheels.

Nice. I might do that for some Indy grinding. I had a '68 SS IRL, wish it was like this! Thx for the tip!

I absolutely hate the Shelby GT350R and Shelby Cobra. The former is just terrible while the latter has annoying handling. The old RM Camaro and Challenger are sweet but I really have to try that premium 750,000 tuned Mustang.

This could be debated. Many will say it was an 80's muscle car but could you really classify a car with a turbo as a muscle car? Personally I would regard a V8 as a requirement for muscle car status.
It was Debated in the late 80's and into the early 90's, and those in the know say Muscle. My Z28 lost to many!!

Look at the profile:
The Buick Regal Grand National is an intermediate that runs the 1/4 mile in the very very low 14's, while the GNX runs in the 13.6ish range ('69 Road Runner 440/6pk = 13.5's). Those who look at the cars stats have classified it as a Muscle Car, many publications like Car Craft and Hot Rod called it a Muscle Car when it first appeared in the showrooms. The GNX and Grand National still hold 1/4 times in Muscle Car magazine's (?) top 75..

Does it truly need to have a V8 or more importantly post 1/4 times from the factory that equal or surpase 90% of the baddest Muscle Cars cars from the late 60's - early 70's? In the end, the car is only quick in a straight line, and cannot corner to save itself, need I say more?

I agree. To me (an Englishman, so I may not be the best at defining a muscle car), it has to be a 2 door coupe with
a large na V8 to qualify as a muscle car :D

The Cobra, Corvette, Viper, or any other Monster Powered 2 seater is not a Muscle Car by definition, they are powerful 2 seater cars.

I understand what you're saying but when was the last time you heard someone say "Damn that's one awesome powerful 2 seater!". It just doesn't happen, by definition they may not be "muscle cars" but they're included. I also don't think anyone can mistakenly include "super cars" with muscle cars. Way too much difference.

If you soften the rear suspension, and give it a bit of a negative rear toe angle it handles beautifully. There is a guy who races vintage with me (SCCA) who drives one, and he helped me set mine up in game, so it handles as good as the Camaro RM with an extra 100hp. If I knew where to put it I would definitely post the tuning on here.

I think I have them all, from the GTO to the GNX, but my favorite is probably the 71 Mustang Premium.

Put all three exhaust systems on it and see what happens when you change them.

It's a very sweet running car.

The Charger 440 R/T is and always has been my favourite car. Unfortunately, it's really poorly represented in the game 👎
In terms of within the game, that's a tough choice between the Cobra and the GT350R. Both are beautiful and a blast to drive.

Some One say, Muscle!?

The Camaro Z-28 is the best muscle car in GT5 to me, it's the best looking and quite good to drive. Although a 67' fastback mustang would have won me if included in the game.

Dodge CHARGER 440 R/T '70 (Orange) The Dukes Of hazzard! xD
I have a drifting video with that car, awsome car! :)
full tuned with:
Power: 762 BHP/5400rpm
Torque: 120kgfm/3900rpm
add comfort soft front and comfort hard rear then you have the best muscle drifting car :)

The 1970 Charger 440 RT is my favorite car and will one day own one. And I also agree with you that it is not given any justice in the game. A close second is the 71 Cuda 440.

The muscle cars that I use most often in the game is the Cobra and the Challenger (without RM'ing it).

It has to be the Camaro for me .

Such a classic muscle car and very well rendered in GT5 . Shame they didn't do the Shelby 350 Premium too .

One muscle car i would like to see in the future would be the 454 Chevy Nova . (A real animal)

P.S Nice pics ^^^^^^^

That made me laugh

And I agree many people lump American Sports Cars with Muscle Cars due to the V8 under the hood.

That is a sweet picture. 👍

My personal favorite muscle car in the game ... '70 Charger R/T dressed up in " In Violet Metallic ".

Nice thread :) in these days I'm driving Mach 1 in one of my custom tracks.

Do you consider Viper and Corvette sport cars or muscle cars? GT5 let me use both in the Muscle Car event.. but they are more into GT class than muscle class Imho.

69' Charger... Oh wait, there is no car in the game :grumpy:

Serious now, I'd go with the new Challenger, the old one looks tougher and doesn't look like plastic, but it is a lot of fun to drive

Depends where you want to race it. The Corvette C5r around Laguna Seca works (in extreme) but the Sheby Cobra is a cool car but doesn't handle that well.
