Best way to lower ratings cleanly

"beating up on slower drivers"...I see...

I regularly race with the best in the game. The front runners in my races reads like a who's who in the game. They are seconds a lap faster than I am, and I am a high SR A low SR S driver/player.

I guess they should stop playing because all of their victories are hollow. After all, they are just beating up on slower drivers.

GT Sport prioritises SR over DR in matchmaking. You can lose as much DR as you like, but if you keep your SR high you'll still end up with some quicker racers.

Exactly!!

Which one of you driving gods is going to exit your race when you see the DR D guys at the back of the grid? Your race is meaningless and your victory will be hollow!

I think for those people that are complaining saying we are trying to take easy victories and such by tanking our ratings purposefully, Let me remind you that thanks to PD's stupidity matching players on SR first and foremost, by tanking our rating we actually have to race against actual real dirty players as opposed to the clean ones that are alien fast.

My advice to anyone trying for the trophies is, just go for, use the tips here and the best of luck to you and do not let any detractors here make you feel any less worthy for doing it. After all, it is **ONLY A VIDEO GAME!**

Proviso is, DO NOT deliberately harm anyone else trying to enjoy how they want to play their game.

The "only a video game" is a worn out an excuse inline with my dog ate my homework ehmm computer. Even with the "DO NOT deliberately harm anyone else". High ranked smurfs in D races still take the fun out of the race for others.

Get pole and win by 30+seconds drops your DR???

Definitely! I’ve said this before but the best online experience I’ve ever had was the original Forza Motorsport; You ram somebody and it damages your steering, making you drive all over the place for maybe 30 seconds. You made damn sure that didn’t happen because it would lead to huge amounts of time lost!

It lead to very clean racing, have no idea why subsequent titles got rid of this. Yamaguchi please!

I don't understand why this isn't in Sport mode as im sure it is in the FIA races?

Edit - oh poo i done it again, sorry. :boggled:

Yesterday i won my third sport race win after getting matched with a whole bunch of DR:D guys while I am currently DR:S
I guess i got matched by them because my SR rating dropped to around 80 after racing the n200 on monza at sunday.
So yeah dropping SR could help winning races, but you also risk a serious drop in SR when some people forget to brake at turn 1.
Happened to me at Interlagos yesterday. Got hit at turn 1 and lost some serious SR and DR points finishing 10th.
After that race i got 2 clean races in managing to get first and second boosting my SR to A again

PD was stupid to put that trophy in, it really exposes the flaw in their SR/DR systems.

They should’ve made more trophies about racing cleanly and properly instead!!

Exactly this, in a highly competitive Sony flagship game it is a silly move to include such trophies, a good chunk of the community will be desperate to get the Platinum and as such perhaps this and some of the other golds should have been a little fairer (maybe 50 poles, 50 wins and 100 races) because as they are, lots of racers will game the system and frankly I can't blame them

Am I the only one that thinks this partially ruins the racing for those at the lower rankings?

It can do for sure I guess but then a lot of racers in B, C, D and E ruin it for themselves quite often racing like idiots (or at least that was my predominant experience in those DR levels)

True, but ruining it for themselves is different from having someone racing with them who clearly shouldn't be.

What would solve the problem is if it was a round robin in the game that didn't put you on pole if you have been there more than 30% of the time or something. That would limit it and also make it fairer for everyone else.

I was tempted to tank my ratings after the disasterous updated took my SR from 75 down to 35, but I decided not to and work my way back from it. I achieved more poles and wins when I was 55-60 SR than when it was at 35.

All valid points, I too decided not to tank my ratings, I've been yo-yoing between DR B and A (SR S) and after winning 6 on the bounce last week I decided to stick with where I am, mainly because racers in SR S tend to be significantly better to race against than those in low A and below.

However, personally I have nothing against those who choose to tank their ratings, those trophies for the wins and poles are excessive in my view and encourage this kind of thing, everyone knows trophy hunters will go to great lengths to achieve Platinums.

I like going for Plats as a mark of appreciation for a good game and I love GT Sport and I'll try to get there legitimately, just another 70 wins to go!

Just make sure you don't legitimately let your DR go above mid DR:B and those trophies will come quick.

I might have a problem then as my DR is probably one or two wins from DR A, I'm sure if they keep giving me Monza, Suzuka and Nurburgring in the dailies it'll come back down, its when Tokyo Expressway, La Maggiore and Brands Hatch come up I tend to do pretty well

Yeh I used to like driving the viper in Gr4 against the meganes, it meant my DR stayed down, as soon as PD nerfed the megan I fell in to DR:A :banghead:

*cough* wallrider *cough* (I'm kidding!)

I get what you mean. I'll drive whatever track/car combo is available, whether it's my strongest or my weakest which probably keeps my DR and SR at an acceptable level. Perhaps that's why I get a decent win-to-race ratio?

Well I guess I must be a trophy hunter then since I have been trying very hard to get the race wins and pole position achievements but
I seem to really be struggling to convert qualifiying times into race wins.

Have not raced online for a few days but I suspect I am over my level as currently B-S so I might see if dropping down to C-S helps me
get a few more wins.

It seems I do best on the kamikaze tracks as usually I just slow up and then pick my way through the pieces to get a better result.

I tried tanking my ratings on my sub account and it was near to impossible, it was like half the grid was trying to do the same, some dude was even driving the track in reverse.

The easiest way to do it, is to do it with using your SR.

Drop your SR to the lowest possible number and your Dr will reset to a low number.

You can easily do that with disconnecting. Go in a race when the race start leave it and start a new race and leave it again. Remember to do that in sport mode.

Cut every corner at Interlagos. Penalty and SR drop. Careful though. Eventually it'll warn you and disqualify you for too many shortcuts. Usually around lap 4. I mean...I think. Not like I would know the specifics b/c I would never do that. :mischievous: At least I didn't have to hit anyone!

(P.S. you'll get dq'd after penalty time reaches about 1:30 as well)

I'm trying to figure out why slower racers 'deserve' wins. The game is not about placing first, it's about being as competitive as possible and racing to win. If this was about placing first I would have given up a long time ago.
You guys are acting like these guys are pros entering into a six year olds soccer match, knocking the children over and spiking the ball when they score.
There are no defined 'leagues' and DR D get matched with DR S all the time. As long as your not ruining others races you should be free to race in whatever category you choose.
I have never placed second in a race and felt cheated because the guy who beat me was better.

They don't deserve to win but they should at least be in the picture for a chance of a win based on their ranked opponents. Very little chance of a DRC or D getting a win if any DRB, A or S fancies an easier ride lower down. Everyone likes a win but they should be hard earned, not cajoled with a little bit of rank manipulation.

That's essentially what they're doing. Using your football analogy, it's like a national side dropping into non league football.

We're all blaming the matchmaking for that scenario. A shame it opens the game up to sandbagging for an easier ride though eh?

Well there's also very little chance of a DR D or C player having a chance to win in higher SR levels too.

I really don't agree that it's the same thing as my analogy. And honestly it's more like a pro player showing up to play in a club league. There should be nothing barring Ronaldo from showing up to my Tuesday games. If that's what he wants then why not?

If he goes and plays as seriously as he does elsewhere, then it just isn't going to be very fun for the other players who will never get the ball and therefore never get a chance to actually play the game and hone their skills. You'll just have 21 other players doing nothing and never getting the ball, just watching someone prove how good they are.

It’s the best way to push players away to other game, and then dry up GTS and harm development of any future game.

It should work out that everyone GTS pole every 20 races or so.

I float between D and C with SR of 99. 70 races, 3 poles, 1 win, 1 fasted Lap. When you think you have set a good time to find the top of the lobby is full of DR B, A or S that are 3 seconds faster it’s killing it for me. I want a race, not just making numbers up for someone who doesn’t want to race his peers..

The trophies are stupid, should have been for clean races..
