Curious as to how people are progressing on this with the DS3 controller. The other night on GP/F, I got a time of 2:12.088 with my fastest single lap being a 1:05.776.

On Suzuka, which I haven't tried as much (but still a lot) my best lap is a 1:07.170 and a total time of 2:15.966

All alone here with me and my DS3 =(

No you're not :). I've got 2:09.127 overall, with first lap at 1:04:7xx and second at 1:04:3xx, so I have to find a way to squeze .5 seconds per lap. I'm slow on the last section, mostly because of the chicane and the fact that for obvious reasons I have least practise there. And this is on Nürburgring, I haven't tried Suzuka since I bronzed it.

Wow that's fast, good to know a silver can be squeezed out of it. I think that final chicane I can get through in like the upper 70 mph range. which I think is pretty good. At first I would try to hop the curb but I felt like it was slowing me down so instead I stay just barely on the curb and get around pretty quick. Wish those darn boxes weren't in the way. I'll have to get back to work on it after I finish up the B-spec enduro races that I'm working on.

The problem with the chicane is, I can sometimes get through it really quickly, but most of the time I lose a lot of time there if not getting DQ'd, it's all about luck since I'm not sure exactly how to tackle it.

Just got 2:09.025, slowly improving.

I get really nervous on second lap if the first lap is good, which is not good when you are steering this beast with just your thumbs. Turning all the huds off seemed to help me with concentration, I don't really need to know the splits when I'm racing, I can see from the ghost whether I'm doing well or not.

If you'd like I can upload the replay file, I don't have any means to save a video, but you should be able to import it in GT5.

I've just unlocked the X1 challenges. So far, after about 30 minutes, I'm at 2:16.xxx at Nurburgring so I'm looking to improve that time significantly.

Yes...I am a DS3 user.

Someone sent me this on youtube

Gold with a pad and no assists apparently

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgYlXJryRG8

Thats much faster than I thought was even possible due to the speed sensitive steering on interpretation of the pad controller. The second lap is significantly better than the first which suggests there is still plenty of room for improvement.

This isn't my vid btw

Hey guys, I only use DS3 and have got 2 Golds and a Bronze. I use the left analog stick to turn and the X and [] buttons to control speed.

The secret is pointer finger on the [] and middle finger on the X - it's a b*tch but I think it is as fast as the wheel; and only my skill holds me back, not hardware. Will learn how to put video on You Tube if I gold the last one.

That's Monza yo. I got gold on Monza. If you do it right, you can pass the ghost on the second chicane of the first lap.

Edit: Oh and Escudo. That's awesome. If you manage to get Gold on Suzuka you've gotta post it!

It took me 10hrs to pass the nurburgring gp x1 challenge with a DS3...all just to bronze it.

Not been able to bronze suzuka yet...way too difficult, but practice makes perfect.

Monza was very easy...28min to bronze it.

Yeah, Monza's very fairly forgiving since you can cut the chicanes. It took me quite a bit of time to get gold on it just because I'm inconsistent and I'd get excited when I finally took the lead and end up making a mistake as a result. So relieved when I finally got it though. The xp you get is insane. DS3 users should get more >_>

Nurburgring and Monza are do-able with a DS3, I made it too but Nurburgring is really hard but do-able xp.
Suzuka however is a pain in the ass, I doubt it's possible to get a gold with a DS3.

2:15.431 here...

:p

I did a 1:06 first lap then a 1:08 second lap I think. If I improve on my consistency maybe a sub-1:10 is in orer. :sly:

I'm really really looking forward to doing this. Honest.

:nervous:

I'm very glad to see that Gold is doable on Nurburgring with the DS3. I have my work cut out for me. Still disappointing that no one has managed with Suzuka. I'd like to at least see someone get a silver =\ Given how complex the course is, it's no wonder though.

I've managed to get Bronze at the Nurburgring and Monza but Suzuka is a *****

First lap is 1:10 and best finish time is 2:22. Me very sad. Was hoping to use the X1 today from my garage.

Improved my time on the GP/F a bit with a 2:11.453.

3.453 seconds off the gold, 1.953 off the Silver. ach.

It's funny though how it was so difficult to get a Bronze and now I can pretty much get better times than that consistently.

Little update: today I managed total time of 2:08:885 w/ DS3. First lap was 1:04.630, second lap was 1:04.255. Less than a second to gold! I found out that I could go faster with the brake balance at 0(front)and 3(back) instead of 10 and 10 that I had been using.

Yes, I've got better and better as well, today I could get silver quite consistently (whenever I finished), although it was in 2:09.1xx-2:09.3xx range. Even when I screwed up and thought I was slow I got 2:10.xxx times. Keep at it!

In Monza it is possible Gold with DS3 tough you have to be REALLY good and do 2 PERFECT laps!

In Nurburgring It' VERY VERY hard to hit silver but possible, I was close. .807 secs off.

In Suzuka... IMPOSSIBLE WITH DS3. I do the S corners at max 260-275 for you to get silver you have to do the S curves at 300+... I could get gold If I could CHANGE the downforce to MAX (front: 150, rear: 200).

just did a 2:14.053 and snatched the bronze on Nurburgring... :D

I started with a 1:07.5 which is quite slow, considering I have done 1:06's. I think my consistency is pretty bad, not so much the speed.

I finally unlocked the X2010 yesterday.

I got bronze on Monza in about 40 minutes (including learning the car). 5 tenths under the target time.

Then I tried Suzuka. This was obviously very hard, but I managed to just get bronze after about 90 minutes. 5 hundredths under the target time

Nurburgring wasn't too hard after this, as I already was more used to the car.

As already mentioned in this thread, I find it hard to believe that I can find much more time at Suzuka. I think silver is probably achievable after more time at the other two tracks.

These are just crazy challenges. Unlocked yesturday and it seems I can't even drive the car correctly lol to even compete for a
bronze. Instantly off course.

Today I got an incredible improvement of 45....thousands of a second :grumpy:. That was with a slow 1:05.056 first lap and best yet second lap of 1:03.784. So that's 2:08.840..at this rate I'll gold Nürb sometime next month :sly:.

Oh man, a sub 1:04 lap?! That's awesome. After I get done with my B-spec enduros, I'll go back to working on these again. Man, I'd like to see a replay of that lap you did though. Very impressive.

Thanks! I can't make a video, but here is the replay files for both Monza (gold) and Nürburgring (best silver time so far): http://www.sendspace.com/file/r8ofdu

I have Eu version of the game, so I don't know does those work on other versions, you might have to rename the folders, since now they are "BCES00569-RPL001" and "BCES00569-RPL002", where the BCES00569 is the code you can see on the games package.

If anybody can make a video of those on youtube or something, that would be fantastic.

How could you change the brake balance? They don't let you adjust the car setup. And I'm terrible at this! I can barely keep the car on the track. Anyone else notice a major lag in steering from time to time, particularly in chicanes where you have to change directions quickly? I wonder if I could ever do this with DS3, or if I'd have to wait for a wheel. This is the last thing keeping me from full game completion... T.T

You have to go to options and change the controller's button assignments, I have RA menu assigned to L1 and navigation in the menu assigned to the d-pad.
