Best X1 Challenge times on GP/F and Suzuka with the DS3

Man I hate Suzuka. I especially hate Spoon curve. It's like the people who designed this track sat down and said how can we make every turn on this course as unenjoyable and awkward as possible >:|

Suzuka is AWESOME. Its the reason I started learning the X1 there. I know the track very well and I'd also heard it was the hardest track to drive the X1 so naturally I thought if I can handle Suzuka then Nurburgring GP and Monza should be easy peasy. I experienced otherwise, but my theory still stands. I will do Suzuka (at least bronze) before the other two. :P
Got my lap time at Suzuka down to a 1.08. 3s to chip off! :D
 
Tried it today. After twenty restarts I actually made two full laps without crashing only to find myself 20 seconds off of bronze. Forget it. I have no patience for this. :scared:
 
Wish I had as much enthusiasm as you F1. Maybe I'd be improving more. Pretty much every time I enter Spoon curve it's a disaster. I either spin out or take it way too slow. I wish I could just start a checkpoint right before the hairpin so that I could just keep on trying the Spoon curve on its own. As it stands I'm pretty good at getting through the first turn and S curves. I can get through Degner well enough and I get through the following corner at about 135-140. (trying to figure out how I can take that one faster). Hairpin's okay, Spoon is a disaster like I said. The final chicane isn't bad, I can keep it in the 90s usually, but that's tough. Still not getting anything lower than the upper 1.06.9xx times though. *sigh* Back to the grindstone.

That's true, Suzuka is the hardest of the three tracks, but I wouldn't say the Nurburgring GP is "easy peasy" after all. :D

Funny fact: I never liked the Nurburgring (contrary to the Nordschleife) before playing the X1 Event. Now I appreciate it for being a very interesting, technical challenging track, especially when sitting in a ultra-fast car like the FGT.
 
ffs. I can't even get gold @ Monza despite cheating my ass off. So I've little hope on the other two. :D
 
Given up, someone I work with is going to lend me his wheel so I can do this challenge. My aim with a controller was all bronzes, so accordingly my aim with the wheel is to try and get all silvers....

You people are insane doing this with a DS3, full respect to you all for the time being put in and the fact you managed bronzes, let alone Golds! :eek:
 
My capture device arrives this week sometime, or early next week depending on the cable as that had additional delay. Plus setting up time i should have the first tutorial up next week, which i dont mind which is if anyone has preference (Except suzuka if i still haven't got gold yet, but should have) please feel free to PM me or w/e or contact me on site i use in my profile, or add me on PSN but i am getting rather full as i need it for other things, so either or all ways :).
 
I'm finally figuring out how to get around Spoon corner now. Still need to shave about a second off my first lap though before it's competitive. I think the final chicane is my main slow point.
 
Last night I finally gold bronze on Suzuka, after taking a break for a day (and moving myself within a few feet of the tv) I was able to just squeeze in. Doing two quick laps is a nightmare. I found the best way in the end was to go as hard as you can on the first lap and then just cruise on the 2nd so you don't stuff up. I'm glad that Challenge is over!! I got bronze on the other two aswell.
I wont be going back to try this one again for quite a while :)
 
I need to shave .2 of in the Esses and i should have gold. Just getting that .2 so that the second lap can be a bit easier, working out a new plan to try increase speed through the esses atm, if i find one ill post it up :).
 
Keep at it! This is really time consuming. I've gotten my first lap down to 1:06.505. I'm still pretty sure the chicane is what's killing me. I also could have gotten to the first split a bit faster on that lap (the best I've gotten is 28.85x and I was probably .3 slower that time). Consistency is the biggest factor obviously. Doing it once? Okay. Doing it twice? Rough stuff.

Edit: Just pushed down my time to 2:12.870. Funny (not really) how 2.87 seconds can be such a long way from gold. D:

Improved my time again. This time to 2:12.519. Not much less than the last time but only being barely a second off silver feels pretty good. I changed up my style a bit and now I flow a bit better around the S curves. Helps pretty well for my consistency. Degner curve is the tricky point. I usually brake for a split second before it but I'm thinking I'll have to at least coast around it if I'm gonna get gold. The chicane is still kind of a variable for me. Sometimes I get around it quick sometimes I don't. I think I'll throw in the towel for tonight.
 
I always do my times in practice mode first as i know as soon as i hit 1:03 with a default car i can get the time same way i did nurb and monza, this way you can also see where to improve etc.

I have found some apex speeds for some perfect esses for the DS3,

200 on the left, 180 on the right, 195ish on the left, unsure on the right quite hard between 170-180 and then 205 on the left for the long left hander, this is a perfect esses take on a DS3. Then to add to the esses its a tiny bit of brake into the first right into a 165 (Yes i did that today :D!) mph apex on the second, and the fast sector should hit a 26.7! although i haven't been able to put it all together yet but know all these are possible, 27 dead is my best.
 
Whoa, how do you get around that turn after Degner so fast. I have to drop down to 140 at best. I'll have to work on that the next time I try it.

Lol as much as i love suzuka unsure which you mean as i thought degnar was the first/second corner combined. But i think you mean the double right before the split ill put both anyway.

One after the first 2 is flat out into the small braking point.

The double right hander usually is 130-140, but if you hit the bumps correctly you can hit a 150-165mph quite easily.

On a different note i've perfected the esses :D, just need to get my 165 through the double right hander and im talking a 26.5 :D. Best time atm is a 1:04.1 which i've done in my first 50 laps today plus alot of 1:04's today, so my aim with my second lot and 3rd if i get a chance is 1:03, then 1:03 constant then special here i come :).
 
Just some times for you to be aiming for, if your going for gold my outlap best times are (And these can get you gold, just need to do the chicane right now lol as i mess it up when i get 2 amazing sectors).

Outlap:

First sector: 26.6 (My fastest so far)
Second Sector: 52.7

Both can be improved upon!! i see a 26.4 being a very limit, on a ds3.

Ye its why im staying with the Pad :D, want to feel the sense of achievement like the other 2 golds. I can't imagine what this is going to feel like! :D.

I have a wheel lol im just not using it. I went home for Christmas and i couldn't take the wheel on the train so i have never used it with gt5 so i could get as much practice in for the GT5 League im in :). And i also saw that there were problems with the G25 (one i have) so never plugged it in. But i enjoy challenges so much i had already golded the other 2 at home, and now im back at uni thought lets go for gold on the 3rd and get all 3 ds3'd :D.

One thing i wouldn't mind is being apart of their Beta Testing :D. So you never know i might :D give him a little tweet ;p.

But cheers for the support! I am there pretty much just putting the sodding laps together ;P.

You'd think after playing F1 games for as long as I have, I'd know these tracks forwards and backwards. these challenges and car are unbelievable. I'm still about 8-10 sec off bronze on all, have today off so will spend most of today going at them. and yes I love Suzuka and my DS3

Nah i use my ghost replay in practice to see where time gains can be had and has never failed me in any game, same with this and thats how i have been improving. Their is a data logger in the game no idea how it works with laps and such as i have never used it.

Haha i was the same :D, i know suzuka very well but when i first started I was like wha???? But now i know the bumps of the track so well its great hehe :D.
 
As i have been messing up quite alot due to me pushing to the limit i hadn't actually got the silver until now that i just got it still very scruffy laps. But i know gold is just around the corner!

I've also randomly found .2 of a second in time at the spoon corner which im delighted about! :D!

Fastest time: 2:10.726 (Which had an ok first lap, not the best and a screw up on chicane on second :( was on for probably 10.2 if it wasnt for chicane).

Unsure what you might see but you can watch on livestream its not via capture card currently due to the wire being delayed, however its via webcam ;P.

So update on todays progress which is quite alot!!! :D

Done my fastest first lap which is a 1:05.6 (Could have been faster but was .3 down on first sector and 2 perfect last sectors).

Fastest ever middle sector of 52.5

Fastest first sector of 26.5

Getting so close now....

Fastest combined so far: 2:10.428

If you combine my best laps entirely its like a 2:09.4 or something :D!
 
AHHH DAMN IT so close 2:10.316!!

So i finished off tonight with an even faster middle sector of 52.4 Tomorrows the day hopefully :S.
