Why? They said it will be released this year at GDC. Whether fiscal or calendar, that's still in 2010.

Sony’s 2010 fiscal year ends on 31st March 2011. Often when a company discusses what they hope to achieve in a given year they are referring to their fiscal year for accounting purposes. This has been discussed before at length which I’m guessing is why Coiler said for a bit of an in forum joke.

But what if there is no development? There's an interview that SRD posted from some while ago. In it, Kaz said that they have a development schedule and that they will be keeping to that schedule no matter what. He finished by saying that once they complete the game, it's up to the marketing department to decide on a release.

Yeah you've got the point, that's the fail in my argument, however, keeping a software division as big as PD in an idle state wouldn't be smart.


I see your point, the marketing strategies usually are focused on long term results, so launching the game together with 3D technology or whatever techno stuff they want, might boost the sales of the company as a whole. I guess it really makes sense. ;) Just my two cents.

Sony really wants to sell GT5 along side the release of Sony's new 3d tvs, so an early/mid summer release would be logical.

I think GT5 will either release summer or at christmas time because they will promote the heck out of their move controller in autumn.

True, But:

If they release GT5 at the same time as the Move controller, They might be able to boost Console sales. Because there is a generation of young dad's who have played GT in the past, And who might consider buying a PS3 + Move for there kids along with GT5 for themself. (As the PS3 still is a bit too expensive to buy as a gift.)

While this will still be a valid selling point/argument if GT5 is released before or after the Move release, The real boost in sales would come from marketing both products at the same time.
And creating the needed media attention at the right time.


But this all is just me thinking too much, And as I don't work in marketing I don't really know how right or wrong I am.

I doubt that. Even though GT5 will likely sell millions they will still have to wait for the green light from Sony before they start(Typically there is a certain sales figure they have to reach).

If they are working on anything that isn't GT5 it's probably TT2.

That's because they don't know that PD has done this with the last two games, it's what they do and the end product always (so far) has been far worth the wait in gold imo. However, I always joke with the guys at work that its vaporware, but this is no Duke Nukem Forever, right? :lol: Plus I firmly believe that this game will be out before christmas, I'd put some dough on that :)

Just seen in the news that the sale of the new 3D TV´s has just begun in America...???

I thought that 3D technology will come in june and from Sony...

Fingers crossed that is the case, really hope for a TT2 to arrive a year or so after GT5, although not ruling out the possibility they still are tinkering with the final details of GT5.
Kaz probably can't resist working on it until it is released.

I am hoping for TT2 as well, that would just be heaven. If they are I would hope that it would not take as long as GT5 as the tracks are already there, it would be just the case to model the bikes and physics. The bikes in TT2 were briliant looking, and arguably the best graphics on the PS2, I can only imagine how amazing they would look with the extra power of the PS3!!!:drool:

But it's still the 2009 fiscal year, is it not? Why would he refer to this year, if he was referring to the fiscal year, as next fiscal year?

Yes, you're right it is still 2009 fiscal year and I'm sure they meant GT5 is planned to be released in 2010 calender year. I was just explaining the basis for Coiler's joke ;)

Yep, as it looks now, fall is the most likely gt5 release date. And christmas the next...(as bad as it looks)
 
It was mostly about PlayStation Move but I think they threw in the GT5 thing to stop them getting berated, pretty much non-news really!
 
I've read the PS-Move is gonna be released this Autumn, does this automatically mean GT5 is too, since GT5 was rumoured to be Move-compatible as well, at least for some features?

Im not and I only purchased my 40" Sony V4000 18months ago and yet it already seems like an old fossil compared to what is already available.

I'm sure I read that they are going to start around £3500.

If thats the case I will just wait, I have bought PS3 on launch day and a 1080p when they were new.

The TV was nearly half price 6 months later!!
 
I don't have a specific site. I look at the first credible source I find, then look for other sources to back up the info.
