It can be said that, when upgrading your car in GT Auto, it can get quite pricey. The RM kits don't come cheap, and the full aero kit for the McMerc SLR comes to 71,000 Credits(!).
However, all are respective bargains when you compare them with the aerodynamic enhancements you can give to the 300SL "Gullwing".
When I thought it would be a funny to see what splitters and spoilers would do to ruin the car's style and grace, I found out the only aero part available cost 19,000. I thought it should be pretty stunning to see if it was worth that much. And it was quite stunning to see. But not in the way you might think...
For 19,000 Credits, what the GT Auto crew in their silly caps and luminous yellow t-shirts do is remove the front and rear bumpers. And that's it.
Yes, it does make it look a bit more like Sir Stirling Moss' iconic 300SLR racer from the Fifties, and I do suppose it improves the car aerodynamically. But it's flippin' ridiculous to charge such in-game cash for something that can be done in the real world for free.
Of course, I can't complain too much, as it's way too easy to get money in GT5 (Ferrari Seasonal's La Sarthe race, anyone?) so it renders such an issue a mere nuisance instead of something that needs immediate rectifying. But it does find itself on my ever-growing "Why did PD do that in GT5?" list.
So, bringing the thread back on topic, do you also reckon that nearly 20K is a bit too much for removing bumpers? Do you think it doesn't really matter that much? Or have you experienced even worse value for money when upgrading your car in GT5?
