SO SAD:( :(

You have to solder it back on, it looks ok aside from that i can't tell if you've pulled some of the solder pads off, if you haven't then happy days just solder it back on and it should be easy enough :)

If you have lost the solder pads then you'll need to trace the tracks back to an undamaged part and try to solder a link from the track to the chip but beware this will be tricky.

I'm not an expert at soldering nor electronics but I would say use leaded solder if possible as it's easier to work with although this might not be possible either due to availability or temperature issues (leaded solder melts at a lower temperature than non leaded).

If you're not comfortable doing it yourself take it to a place that repairs electronics and they should be able to sort it for you :)

Again, I can't see exactly the damage so it might be worse than I think so wait for a few others to reply first.

It looks pretty buggered to me, those two pins still attached to the motherboard would be fixable (by replacement) but the other two look like they've torn off the PCB traces with them (as you'd expect). It's fixable but - and I mean no offence when I say this - not by you, since you managed to rip the header off in the first place I imagine you're not overly familiar with how this stuff works. You need someone who can identify that type of header, get a replacement, desolder the broken pins then solder the new header on and patch up the damage. From experience I'd guess it would take about an hour, so it's not a big job.

I'm not an expert, but I am studying electronics and have been fixing stuff like this for a few years now.

I'm pretty sure there are only two pins in total. You're right I don't know much about this. I would have to just bring it to a shop? I ripped it off with tweezers as I thought it was supposed to come off....so it was a clean rip. What are the solder pads? I guess you can't just reattach it with glue?

If by 'shop' you mean a computer repair place then yeah, they might be able to help you out. If you mean a retailer like where you bought the PS3, no. No one can replace this PS3 for you as you've voided the warranty, so you either need to fix this one or buy a new one.

You can't just glue it because you need to re-establish the electrical connection between the pin on the header/connector/piece you pulled off and the now-severed PCB trace on the PS3's motherboard.

Also solder pads are unprotected spots on a PCB (circuit board) for electronic components to be soldered to. Unfortunately for you, a solder joint is much stronger than the adhesive between the copper of a circuit board and the material it's bonded to, so you've pulled the copper off with the component. I can tell that from your first photo because those two dark pads next to the two broken pins are where the solder pads used to be. That's why you need someone to find some copper connected to the copper that used to be there to solder some wires to, then solder those wires to a new connector.
