Comments

This is a fun one. Quick laps and the car has a bit of slide to it. Reminds me a little of the Alfa Romeo in WRS week 147. And did you know - These cars were included in the 2.0 Liter Class of the SCCA Trans Am Series in the late '60's and early 70's?

Preview of Coming Attractions

In the series, I currently plan to use the Z4, M5, and one 3 series car (Yet to be decided). I'm currently planning 3 arcade races and one GT mode race. All of course subjuect to change to some degree, just want you to have an idea of where this is going. ;)

Week I Results

Wow - Thanks for the great turnout in week 1!! :D

Congrats to Stidriver for the win. 👍 MadMax takes 2nd, and my LAN buddy Jake manages a podium of his own. :)

But some tight racing overall, the top 7 drivers were within 0.8 of first.

See you over at HSR. 👍

Kevin

Fun race Kevin - if in doubt about the 3-series, when you don't want to pick the CSL (my favorite car) take a look at the GTR road car. I don't think it was ever used in any race series so far.

EDIT first splits

28.539
1'02.007

Incredible grip in this fun car with a thread for oversteer and wiggling you always have to beware of. No understeer at all, almost like an FF car.
Isn't DF one of the greatest track that GT4 features? I think so 👍

Here are my 1st splits:

T1 26.776
T2 59.581

Really nice start for a BMW series EDK.

EDK, would you mind if I did the same thing as in ARCAT? Even though I voted for the Hondas, the BMWs are still too good to pass up.

Also, it's always been a gray area at Deep Forest, even more so than the big concrete slabs: are the "grasscrete" curbs part of the track? They seem to be a hard surface, even though they're green. They look like the grass but have a clear border with the soft stuff.

And after three laps I have a 26.612 - 58.377. I think it will be easy to approach our limit quickly this week.

Edit: 26.162 - 57.887. I thought the lap was full of mistakes, but I can't pull even a tenth ahead, even when I feel like the lap has been perfect! Maybe this will turn out to be the fastest I run.

That's fine, I have no problem with you running in here unofficially.

Grasscrete is legal as a hard surface. I only made the other line rule to maintain the same rule used in past WRS events. And also because I think it's a non-issue in this car.

This should be sort of like a Mid-Field combo, that's why a referred to WRS week 147. The limit should be found quickly and the racing should be close. :scared:

Ooohhh... this is a fun one :dopey:

27.214
59.606

EDIT: Forgot to include the pic I took the time to grab! Just enough body roll to let you really feel the weight transfer, but not too much so it upsets the car. 👍

Yes.........it is. :dopey:

I ran a session tonight to beat out my test splits. I just can't get enough of that first right hander. Here's the pic from my test run that I decided not to put in the main race post. I caught myself mid-drift. :D

My splits tonight -

27.066
59.250

Road cars are fun.

Ran a few laps before breakfast this morning. Fun car to drive Kevin!

27.337
1'00.908

I'll work on it later today when the rain arrives.................again!!

Nice one!

Here are my first splits:

That one just became the thread photo. :D

Got the board up to date, glad to see so many racers in here already. 👍👍

enjoyable combo :)

Thanks. :) Got you on the board.

I ran another session tonight, picked up 0.8 at the line.

26.722 / 58.901

Ran some more laps - improvements tougher to come by now. As with so many other low powered slideable cars the key seems to be enough drift to corner quickly but not so much that you scrub off speed.

26.604
58.655

This is my most loved combo ever! 👍

New splits (I have seen a few tens room for improvement for both T1 and T2)

T1: 26.414
T2: 58.577

Darn, someone is fast updating the leaderboard. Well, so am I updating my laps. :p

T1: 26.265
T2: 58.183

That will do for today. :sly:

Wow, that's quite the statement. Glad you are enjoying it, I know I am. :dopey:

I figure I have to be fast at something. :sly:

my current splits:

T1 26.568
T2 58.590

now that I know the shift points and line I just need to match them all together in one lap

Getting a better feel for this in my second session. Excellent choice Kevin. I remember driving a 2002 on Route 1 in CA, about 12 years ago. So much fun!

26.386 / 58.517
26.413 / 58.306

By Stinson Beach? That would be sweet. :dopey:

Glad to see you in your rightful range on the board! Like we talked about at Chuck's last time. The fun factor in the road cars is incredible. :D

I feel a bit silly, having improved all sectors, but never in the same lap. I've seen a 26.10x for T1, but screwd-up in the next sectors. Anyway, here are my intermediates for my best overall lap so far:

T1: 26.407
T2: 57.971

Yes, by Stinson. It was a very memorable ride for me. It was my brother-in-laws car with a performance carb and bbs wheels. It looked great and handled the twisty road like a champ. The fun factor was there and is still here in GT4 for sure. 👍

I just did a 26.127 - 57.376. Unfortunately, the final sector was forgettable (lost a bit to the previous save when there was a fair bit to be gained), but I doubt there's more than .3 theoretically left in it for me. Realistically, though, this is probably the fastest I'll go.
