2nd run

T1 27.043
T2 59.853

One last session and I'm submitting :odd:

Fun combo to start out the series, Kevin.

After my first session trying to catch gtbadboy I've still fallen short.

26.476
58.754

I have some faster t2's (.710) but the cement area after it has been taken on the inside a bit too much.

EDIT: I just noticed your now a moderator, Kevin.
I believe congrats are in order.

Congratulations man.

Thanks Kenny. I've been fighting with an MX-5 at Suzuka trying to get a clean run in there. I expect that to happen this morning, then I can focus my attention on catching both of you. ;)

On the Moderator thing, there are actually 5 of us who are new Mods. We'll be helping Sphinx maintain his sanity over at the Prologue race events. :sly: The others are -

Dustdriver
Hugo Boss
Jump_Ace
Vaven

Kevin

I had about 18 minutes to try this combo and got:

T1 - :26.260
T2 - :57.749

Felt like a good lap but I need to view the replay and ensure its clean later :) Congrats on the promotion Kevin! I can't express how much I am looking forward to racing with you again in San Fran 👍

Congrats to you as well. And I'm also looking forward to racing with you here, I might even be faster than I was last time.

Got you and Kenny on the board. 👍

EDIT: Also noticed I had missed MadMax86's last update. :dopey: Got that in there too. 👍

EDIT 2:

Just ran another session of my own. Took a while to get back in the groove, but this combo is even better than I had realized. Instant classic?

26.426
58.425

(Hoping to get that last 0.5)

This picture was taken coming out of the very first corner after S/F. Between the white line and the grass is a 'grassy' rumble strip. Is this part of the track or not?

YUP - This is Kevin's reply to the same question - see post #6:

That's fine, I have no problem with you running in here unofficially.

Grasscrete is legal as a hard surface. I only made the other line rule to maintain the same rule used in past WRS events. And also because I think it's a non-issue in this car.

This should be sort of like a Mid-Field combo, that's why a referred to WRS week 147. The limit should be found quickly and the racing should be close. :scared:

Continuing to improve - found some time by using one gear higher higher than I had: first turn (stayed in 4th), the left immediately after T2 (stayed in 3rd), and the last turn (downshifted only one gear to 3rd). Even though it feels a bit bogged down it is noticeably quicker.

26.293

Now, how did I miss that one?

In that case a can safely post new sector times: :)

T1: 26.075
T2: 57.758

A perfect example of grasscrete. And it falls under the heading of "All other hard Surfaces" As long as you kept 2 wheels inside the white line, you are good. 👍

I guess I got treed on that one. :dopey:

Thanks for helping out with the questions, and thanks for the shifting tips. I tried the first one a few times yesterday, and never made a perfect run at it. Are you shifting down to 3rd for the high speed right before the tunnel and T1?

I'll be making another run this morning and will mess with the shifting as well.

Now I am confused big time:

- 2 wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
- rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
Reading these rules, the car shown below is on the track, as its two right-hand (left for the viewer) wheels are on the rumble strip. But they are not inside the white line...

Or are you just indicating how to play it on the safe side? :dopey:

Kevin

I do shift to 3rd at that right hander ;) but late shift....some how it gives you a boost before T1:odd:

Sorry, I meant at least 2 wheels between the white and tarmac. The rumble strip ends at the white line. And your picture is in bounds, the lap is legal. 👍

I have improved .6 at T2 since my last splits.

new splits:

T1 26.360 (336)
T2 57.981

If still counting in the color factor, let it be mark'd that I used the green car.

EDIT: Congrats on your nomination to become a Moderator EDK

A small improvement in a quick session before the late game:

27.022
59.359

Wow, there was a lot of adjectives in that sentence lol

Just need to trim more T1 time if I have time and I'll be happy. I have surgery on Tuesday so I should have time to race this week :)

Whoa, what are they going to cut?

By the way, I was hoping to see you participate in ARCAT
rounds 3 and 4 after those strong 1st and 2nd round ,
but didn't see your entrys for those races.. What happened?

Oh and I think congrats are in order for your nomination for becoming a Mediator!

26.042 / 57.880

So based on the above pic, the 'grasscrete' is legal?

I second that 100% - well deserved Kevin 👍

I hope to give it another go before the submission deadline - DF is where I want to be

Yes, I am ruling it as a hard surface. I know WRS has made it legal at times and not legal at other times.

Yes

Time Submitted

about 22 hours to deadline now .

Last ditch effort netted an improvement for me.

26.403 / 58.137

Submitting my time now. 👍

Good luck in the results.

Kevin

BTW - I come close to using the grasscrete in one area of this run. In case anyone is wondering why I would include it as a surface, this is my precedent. (WRS Week 157)

Thanks! I had three interviews, a promotion, traded in my car, bought a new one (from a private dealer to had to sell my car to a dealership first and then deposit the check) had to do pre-op screening, plus edit the GT5P OLR rules and work OT. Yea...life was uber-busy :P Sorry I missed out on that series. My surgery is called otoplasty, google it :D

Jerome

Results are up on post 2. Congrats to stidriver, MadMax86 and Jake for the podiums. 👍

My NTSC replay is attached.

As usual, great times, everyone! Congrats to stidriver (nice to see you stepping up in jmgyro's absence!), MadMax86 (similarly stepping up into second), and Jake (almost second!). No kidding, that was close racing. Lots of people separated by less than .1! My best lap was a 1'28.041, and I could see a 1'27.7xx being possible, but that would have been a ridiculous lap for me to try to achieve.
