Tried Steven's setting on my car with a couple off tweaks:odd:

springs 14-15 (the same)
ride 65-75 (75-85)
dampers 6-7-6-8 (the same)
camber 2,5-1,5 (the same)
toe -1 +1 (the same)
stabs 1-1 !!! (the same)
breaks 6-5 (the same)
auto 10 (not tricked so far) (11)
tcs 1 (0)

1st splits (2 laps)
Event 1

T1 44.309
T2 1'19.058

Event 2

T2 1'19.058
T4 2'38.755

First splits for each event

1st event
42.190 --- 1:14.872

2nd event
1'15.297 --- 2'31.610

3rd event
1'15.297 --- 3'35.683 --- 5'26.560

OK - I've managed clean full laps in all 3 cars now. :D

And my slowest car is about 10 seconds slower in total than the fastest, so I don't feel too bad about the tuning, although I think there is one car that will be used for most of the fastest times. There is another car that rewards you for pushing it, but that does not suit my style. If it suits someone else's, this could be interesting.

I have new splits for events 2 and 3 as well -

Event 2 -
1:16.513
2:32.499

Event 3 -

1:16.513
3:35.861
5:27.727 :odd:

My setup is fairly basic, and I'm using something similar on all the cars.

No brake balancer. Transmission gearing a little higher, using autoset. Up a couple clicks on this car. LSD, I set the Accel to 60 and leave the other settings at default. That helps with the tail wagging coming out of some of the corners.

Suspension is the main this I'm messing with. Here are my settings -

9.0 / 8.0
70 / 85
7 / 7
7 / 7
2.5 / 2.0
0 / -1
3 / 3

I tweak the settings a little between the different cars, but the basic idea is the same across the board.

I'd like to see the event specific winners setups they used and on which car. 💡

I'm experienced in tuning cars for Drag/Max speed runs mostly.

For a track tune the main thing in these cases is tweaking the suspension.
Tweak suspension for more grip when cornering.
Also it's preferred to adjust the gears for using the powerband effectively.

Ran all three cars with the same suspension idea (soft springs, high ride height, soft dampers, soft bars, additional camber front and rear)
as a starting point. I decided to do a couple of laps with each and then just pick one.

So between car A, car 1 and car Alpha I picked car Alpha ;)

At this point the jump after T1 is the real problem, at anything resembling racing speed the car will veer off track 8 out of 10 times. Trying to find the right combination of suspension compliance that improves this without slowing the car down elsewhere.

43.015/1:16.084
1:16.084/2:32.012
1:16.084/3:36.086/5:27.634

You will notice that there is a significant difference between entering the jump while on the left of the track and while on the right of the track. That and the 'jump entry speed' can easily determine how you survive the jump :)

I think maybe he was trying to take it flat out. :scared:

I am downshifting and hoping for the best, although the 60 setting on LSD accel certainly helps.

Getting a board update now, hoping for a little more action here. :nervous:

No way is he taking it flat-out, unless his setup is far better for high-speed cornering than my car's stock one. I have to slow down 5-10 mph to get through. And I don't expect to improve at this point; my propensity to push too hard means I'm not finishing any laps at the same pace I did the first one, despite the glaring errors in it. Oh well, my theoretical limit isn't more than a second or two faster than what I have now, and on this track, I'm happy with that.

Couldn't pass up an opportunity to lap The Ring. T9 of 5'22.583 so far. I won't bother submitting a lap time though, so as not to screw anyone in the championship running out of any points.

Feel free to submit if you'd like, and I'll post your time as unofficial. 👍 Deadline is Thursday night.

Not even close to flat out

42.413 / 1:15.455
1:15.455 / 2:31.977

had a 5:25.197 T9 and then missed my braking point for the next turn :dunce:

OK so I tried cars A and C and now I'm back to car B

New splits for the leader board.

Event 1
42.673 / 1'15.585

Event 2
1'15.585 / 2'32.055

Event 3
1'17.029 / 2'34.300 / 5'28.797

I had a 5'26.193 and blew it soon after.

Some other times

Car A
43.588
1'17.494

Car C
44.024
1'18.456

No full laps for either Car A or C.......yet.

Can I join using road tires or hard-sports?

Well this is a series, and the 4th and final race in the series. So I'm not wanting to allow any more official entries.

So, since your entry would not be official anyhow, if you want to run some laps on a different compound and let us know how you come out, have at it.

Just please honor the thread rules by not posting the car your are using, T3 or T5 times, or total lap times. 👍

Tried to improve in this great one of cars but ony improved marginally :yuck:

45.711
1'22.701

Still great fun Kevin 👍

gahh, its over already? >_< saw this one too late:ouch:

No, it says in 1st post that:

Thursday, October 30th, 2008 - 7 pm PST (Pacific Standard time, GMT -7 hours)

after quick calculations:
Thursday, October 30th, 2008 7.00 pm PST = Friday , October 31th, 2008 2.00 am GMT

I hope this helps to clear it up.

About 24 hours until deadline. I'm going back for a final session now. 👍

This looks good. I'm pretty sure I know which car is the fastest too, judging by their specs... Hopefully I'll manage to toss in a couple clean laps just for fun and unnofficial times! :)

My first decent times for Event 1:

43.911
1'18.697

Ohh, if only I could devote the amount of time to this that I want to

I really like the feel of my chosen car, now that the suspension has been tricked a bit. (This non-descript talk of which vehicle we're using is a bit like those spy shots they have in Car & Driver of prototypes spotted with tarps hiding the body lines of new models )

Will dig in for a bit more, and hopefuly will have something to contribute to all three events.

Good to have you in here, I hope you find it enjoyable. I know you won a WRS in one of these cars, maybe you still have a setup that will work. ;)

No magic short events for me in the last session, so I'm going with what I have.

I'm subbing 9 times now.

But I am submitting all of the event times from my full laps in each of the 3 cars.

Good luck to all.

Mess ups here and there, but CLEAN and still respectable compared to my fastest sections. With another hour or two could probably shave off another 2-3 seconds by the finish.

T1: 42.008
T2: 1'15.024

T2: 1'15.024
T4: 2'31.088

T2: 1'15.024
T6: 3'34.005
T9: 5'23.289(SUCH A SCARY HAIR RAISING SECTION - so deadly. You don't want to see me tip toeing it through here in this lap,)

I hope you find it enjoyable.
UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE CENTURY!!!!

I've been away from GT4 for a decent while due to lack of time, and combos that are so-so, and GT4's lack of proper physics, butttttt. I swear, this is as good as GT4 can get. The amount of power, handling, track, tire grip, neutral and tossability of the car(s) is PERFECT.

LOVED IT!

I was supposed to be asleep three hours ago. I didn't start playing until about 2.5 hours ago.

First car I tried didn't seem to be the ticket after all, but I got a clean lap on my third lap and saved it. Moved onto the next car, instantly better, much more stable car, and not slower in a straight line like I was expecting it to be(or maybe it is, but my cornering speed more than made up for it). Kept going with that car. And going. And going. And pushing. And trying to just get a clean lap, and going and going and going! Finally, way past my bedtime, and with only 4.5 hours to go until I need to get up for work I have a clean and relatively fast lap. w000!

That felt good, thanks Kevin!

I won't have time to play tomorrow before deadline, so submitting now. If I could be faster with the third car, who knows and who cares, had a blast going fast regardless! Thanks again.

-Kyle

(hopefully my skillz haven't dropped off too much, can't wait to see the results!)

👍👍👍👍👍:crazy::dopey::dunce:👍👍:):sly:

Gnight...... zzzzzzzzzz.

EDIT: By the way, due to time constraints I used stock suspension on both, as they handle the way the car's supposed to handle according to BMW(which means they have to be close to perfect for this track! First car wasn't so nice, second one handled the track beautifully).

Settings that I DID specify(on both cars):
Brake Balance 2/1
No aids
Race transmission with gearing set for tall first and close ratios, just barely topping out on the back stretch
Full LSD 10/25/5

Nice to see you here, Kyle and able to spend some time with us and GT4.
According to your times it looks as though you haven't lost your touch.

Some new times for car A.
Nothing for the leaderboard though.

Event 1
43.789 (43.319)
1'17.393

Event 2
1'17.592
2'35.499

Still no full lap either.

I have today off from work so I'm going to concentrate on full laps today.

I tried a few runs yesterday, but gave up soon due to lack of concentration. Hopefully tonight will be better as I still have to do a complete lap... :scared:

Made more progress last night but didn't get it posted. Improvement of over a second at the line (T3)

43.585
1'17.858

Still didn't go for the full lappers yet. Hopefully will get to this afternoon.

Managed to get it mostly right for a whole lap & keep it clean.

T4: 2'30.811
T6: 3'33.496
T9: 5'20.833

Time submitted for full lap only. Unofficial status requested. :sly:

Awesome challenge! 👍

Didn't take me long to decide which car to concentrate on, but then I spent a fair amount of time tuning it.

Finally managed to not throw it a way after T9

1:16.606
3:35.670
5:25.486

Decided to soften the rear suspension to make it less twitchy - a bit slower but at least I can keep it on track for a full lap.

Also, did this down about 5hp as it was due for an oil change.

Submitting three times for one car - good luck to all
