Times submitted for all 3 events 23:26 PM GMT

I made some improvement on the medium event too. :)

I've been busy trying to get these cars tuned
among alot of dragcar setups for the Quorter mile thread.

I did last weekend and at the start of this week 8 tunes
and today did 2 more. :sly:

Submitting my previously posted splits for Event 1. Unfortunately didn't get to complete anything for 2 & 3.

Just got done submitting for all 9 events.

Good luck to all that submitted times for such an event.

T1: 41.842
T2: 1'14.571

Just submitted ^^ for Event 1. Got home fast so I could put some more time into this awesome combo... :) I originally submitted all of my times from my fastest Event 3 lap, but knew I could squeeze at least another second or more out of the first three sectors if I spent some time just doing that. Didn't have enough time to go as fast as I wanted to, but I almost knocked a second off in the 20 minutes I had.

It's all unofficial anyway, but hey! Lots of fun!

Results are up on the second post. Thanks for the great turnout and for making the series a success.

Wow! I didn't really expect (almost) everyone to choose the same car! It was clearly the best, though. Denur, were you really faster in the GTR, or did you just pick one and stay with it? Using the CSL (obviously ) with no suspension, LSD, or brake balance tuning, the best I did was 1'41.225, 3'05.348, and (on a different lap that had been slower) 6'42.427. Without some obvious stupid mistakes, like skewing sideways and fishtailing after exiting a corner with two wheels far in the grass, I definitely could have gone below 1'41 and 3'05, but I kept getting stuck in a rut. :dunce: Great racing, everyone, and I hope you all had fun racing these great combos! And thank you, EDK, these races were truly a blast. 👍

Ahh, I guess I have another time that I could've submitted, from the first car I tried out...

The 330i on my first clean lap a couple laps in before I swapped cars I ran a 7'03.071 in it.

Decided to take the GTR out for a quick spin after the competition... Definitely lacking the poise/balance and grip that the CSL has. I've never experienced it so nice before, but I really think it's the best handling FR car that I've driven with those tires on it. Going over to this week's WRS and getting into the Mercedes and it feels like I lost a bunch of grip and response. Especially on the front end, which makes the combo much less enjoyable for me. :(

Once again, thanks!!

I only tried the CSL a few times and didn't get consistent faster times than with the GTR, so decided to stick to the GTR for a while, but never got 'round to retry the CSL let alone the 330i. :ouch:

Congrats to Stidriver for all the wins you have taken thoughout these series. 👍

And a big thanx to EDK for making it all possible, well done mate. 👍👍

In this series there are only two winners (sorry stidriver :))

1. Kevin for setting up and managing a good series superbly
2. the BMW CSL showing it's the best choice by far for the green hell, any other track and to be parked in your driveway

Congrats to sti for having the fastest times this week and for winning the championship points battle.
Well done to those who competed in the series, for 1 week or all 4.

Thanks to the steward for the series and I thought you did well for yourself with creating the combos and points system. 👍👍

I had the most fun with the 2002 at Deep Forest and the most trouble at Nurburgring.

Hope to see all of you at the GT5p WRS and registry events in the future. You all are a great bunch of competitors and I enjoy racing against proven good clean and fair competition.

Austin, maybe you could make a Youtube of your lap for us to view. I know the situation but I'd like to see your lap/laps anyway.
I will watch some replays and try to see what I have to figure out about lapping the Ring.
By watching 2078"s replay there a week ago it helped my approach into the corners just before T3. I seem to be losing time between T3 and T5 also.

Again "Thanks" to Kevin for the series.

Kevin, great series and very well run!
Sorry I wasn't more competitive over the last 2 weeks but, sometimes real life does get in the way, as is evidenced by my diminishing skills. :grumpy::banghead:

Congratulations to all who participated, great turnout for the "Beamers."

Big shout out to 01GTP. We haven't talked in awhile, probably because you're so damned far ahead of me,:ouch:and I've a new toy you'd be interested in. :)

Once again, great job Kevin!!

Congrats to stidriver for overall win
and to 2078TM for the marginal 2nd overall finish. 👍

I knew this event would rise my finishin podium to atleast 3rd so I'm happy with the outcome.

In the GTR I was able to get
T3 1'45.016
T5 3'12.835
and a lap of 7.07.789 that was dirty just after T8 on the sand :ouch:
I overwrited the 330i times by the GTR times as they were better and I was short on memorycard space.

I'll try to get the replays up tonight.

I put your GTR times in that area of the results.

Take a look at how close Kenny (01GTP) and I are on ALL of the events in all 3 cars.

Most of our times are within a second, many much less. He got me by 0.051 in the GTR. :ouch:

We used to run together in D3 WRS and were always very closely matched, and we've had some very competitive racing in LAN as well. 👍

Congrats to everyone who participated in this monster of a combo.

Kevin: thanks for hosting this and ARCAT. Both have been a challenge and a blast!

Congrats all 👍

Kevin, an excellent series - lots of fun - and by and large pretty close competition

Kevin, you can add my 330i Event 3 final time too if you want, I have the replay and get the split times from it if needed. :)

👍 👍

Got you on there. I was hoping to hang on to at least one first place. :dopey:

Seems I've made it to the point of being competitive but slightly slower than everyone else here on Nurb. :ouch: But considering my first serious attack at it was WRS week 140, I don't feel too bad about that.

BTW, I was ready to have the CSL go out here with no power upgrades and then it was slower than either of the other cars in testing. So I added the 2 power upgrades, and it ended up being the fastest. Just goes to show how tough it can be to dial these things on equal footing. Maybe the chip only, next time.

Oh, and on replays. I'd like the fastest 3 official times from each of the events. And anyone else who wants to share is welcome to. Just to keep things the same as we have throughout both of the series. 👍

I'm happy to. 👍 And if you'd like to see any of the other laps I ran in ARCAT or in this series, I'd be glad to make a video of them, too. Photobucket will have to suffice, however. Apologies for the low quality (hey, it's a 20 year old TV videoed with a digital camera, what do you expect?) and the lack of sound. The first video is of events 1 and 2, and the second is the last half of my fastest full lap, despite being over a second down at T5 (I crashed the good one after T9).

Certainly don't delude yourself into thinking this is precisely how you should attack Nurburgring now. I think there were a grand total of either two or three laps I finished, and one or two of them not cleanly, so the end is bound to be bad. Also, where it looks horribly slow and sloppy, it usually is horribly slow and sloppy - that's not advanced technique, it's the inability to piece together a whole lap decently. Plus, I use a DS2, and sliding around some of those corners like I did would not work well with a wheel. Still, have fun watching, and I hope the videos are useful to you. 👍

I agree with you specially for the 2nd point :D, you know it's my fav. too:dopey:

Hey, you get there how you get there. :p

What's with your cat in the first video?

I swear mine knows when I've surpassed my T1. She's quiet until I knock a few tenths off a split and am going for my best lap. Then, all the sudden, she decides to come over and start meowing at me. :ouch:

Well, if a max drive is not in the cards, then surely a PS3 is out of the question. But if you happen to manage to get one, no more max drive to worry about.

Hope to see you over in the prologue events someday. 👍

Nope, no PS3 is likely in the near future. :indiff: Admittedly, though, there isn't nearly as much use for a Max Drive anymore. But yeah, my cat is kind of crazy sometimes. Sometimes she just meows incessantly, and she's not even hungry or anything. She's just weird like that. She sometimes likes to jump up onto my lap, too, and rub her head on the controller, etc., usually when a lap is going well. :ouch:

Edit: I almost forgot, have fun at SFGTP4!

Great run at Green Hell Austin343.
I'd really like to know what was the setup you used for the CSL .

And sorry for the delay, here are my replays in PAL form:

I'd really like to know what was the setup you used for the CSL .

Setup? What setup? I set the transmission to top out at the bottom of the hill at the end of the long straight, and I added all the parts like racing brakes, flywheel, driveshaft, clutch, etc., but I'm so hopeless at tuning that I didn't even bother to buy the LSD, suspension, or brake balance controller, and I didn't add stiffening (roll cage). The stock setup seemed pretty darn good to me, enough that I didn't think it was necessary to mess around with the settings and probably make the car worse.

, all non power upgrades,

Doesn't this mean we had to use all non power upgrades including Suspension, LSB and Brake bias, whether good or bad? The race specs didn't state the fact we had the option to pick the upgrades we want.

Just a general question for events in the future.
I realize we won't run many (if any) GT4 races/series but I would like some opinions.

Either way thanks for the videos, Austin.
I have not watched them yet, but I will soon.

Well, the reason all upgrades are ALLOWED is that they cannot be checked when reviewing replays. Sort of like the weight in arcade mode. It's always -10%, since we are not able to check it when reviewing replays.

For example, I did not equip my car with a brake balancer. I did not intend to adjust brake bias, so there was really no reason to do that.

The way I look at it, the upgrade parts SHOULD provide an advantage. If someone chooses not to use them, I would not view it as an issue.

And either way, Austin's times are unofficial anyhow.

Hope that clears things up, and I'm receptive to other opinions.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that the non-power upgrades are always optional - that's been true in every GT-mode WRS week, and in most of them, someone asks to clarify. EDK got the reason exactly right, of course, which is that you can't check whether they're on the car or not.

Thanks guys.

Maybe in the future the race specs should read "all non power upgrades optional".

Just trying to clarify this for future events.

Sorry for any confusion. I used the same language as was used in the last GT Mode WRS event. I knew from past WRS's that installing the upgrades was not a requirement. And again, there would be no way of verifying anyhow.

On to the next topic - I'll check stidrivers replays at some point this week. If 2078TM can post his replays, that would be great. And if a PAL user can check MadMax86's, I would appreciate it. 👍

I was already planning to do so after work. The results should be in within 2 hours. :)

It's a little over 2 hours later, but MadMax's laps are as clean as a baby's bum, or rather smooth as a baby's bum (baby bums can get quite soiled from time to time). All three events are driven with the posted car and correct specs. I must say MadMax, black suits that Beamer very well. 👍

While watching event 2 I had a "Niceeee" moment and on other occasions even I got sweat in my hands where you nearly lost it, but recovered greatly (for instance at the end of the long straight in the 3rd event. Too bad you max-ed out twice or three times on that long straight due to too close gearing. But I'm not much of a tuner and your gearing might have made up for it on the first parts of the track. :dopey:

All in all, your points for all three events are well deserved. 👍

P.S. It was a pleasure to watch these three replays, with beer in one hand and a smoke in the other.
